Lineker talking utter shite there. Complete bias toward a British player. Bale was the definition of anonymous in that game. The over-complementary might say he was decent but to say he was terrific is just ridiculous.

Wonderfully, Benitez compared Bale to a donkey in today's press conference. He didn't really
As I'm lazy, I'll nick this version of the fable from Wikipedia:
The basic situation in this fable is of a man and his son who are accompanied by their donkey and meet constant criticism from passers by of the way it is used or treated by them. The story's purpose is to show that everyone has their own opinion and there is no way one can satisfy all. There are four or five different elements to the story that are ordered differently according to version.
When both walk beside the donkey they are criticised for not riding it. When the father rides, he is blamed for making his young son walk; when the son rides, he is blamed for leaving his elderly father on foot. When both ride, they are berated for overburdening their beast. In later versions the father then exclaims that the only option left is to carry the donkey on his back; in others he does so, or father and son tie the donkey to a pole which they carry on their shoulders. This action causes general mirth and has an unhappy outcome, resulting in the donkey's death through one cause or another.
Illaramendi back to Real Sociedad and Llorente to Sevilla. Sevilla's strike force now consists of Llorente, Immobile and Gameiro. Meanwhile Valencia have signed Brazilian defender Aderlan Santos, perhaps as Otamendi replacement.
Sky co-commentator: "It's a handball and a penalty. Yes, it's unintentional, but it's a handball."
How can someone watch football for a living and not understand one of the simplest rules in the game? Handballs are the only type of foul where intent matters. Literally the one one.
Glimpses of good play from Barca but Malaga doing well at frustrating them. Still, lucky not to concede a penalty. Barca will surely get at least one goal in the 2nd half, though.
Malaga doing a good job. Barcelona are missing Alves, Sergi Roberto provides no threat whatsoever from RB at all (not a fault of his, he's no RB). With Messi cutting inside there is no width down the right side. Even then, Barcelona should have had a couple of penalties.

If you know the ref isn't going to give handballs on sliding tackles, can't the defender just open his arms with intent to cover more ground, knowing refs don't give it? Wrap your head around that..

It's like some of the things in that "anywhere else on the field it would be a foul" thread the other day. The same goes if a forward commits a handball and his team score, even if the handball is accidental, if the ref sees it, he'll call it a foul. There are different rules for defenders and attackers.
