Second most bizarre signing after Van de Beek. It's like going to the supermarket to buy sugar because you are making a cake... and you end up buying pet rock.
Not sure he is an upgrade on Sabitzer. So far, absolutely not. Sabitzer was avaiable for a quarter of the fee though. He is an upgraded Donny/Sabitzer with a bit more adapability but many of the same issues. Absolutely isn't a CM behind a 10 which makes the signing very odd unless we are looking to move Bruno on.
The biggest issue is why did our manager go for him as a priority? Whatever his plan was, which is very dubious. it is not working. And now what? Bench?I think the baffling thing is we’re scraping around relying on player sales to fund a different type of midfielder when that should’ve been the first priority. This was a luxury signing once you’ve solved some other issues.
He’s far from the only problem but he’s not solving a lot.
I'm getting there.Still early days but has any of his supporters shifted their stance since? I never thought this was going to work out and it still doesn't look like it will, unfortunately.
Better player in my opinion. Always completely baffled me Southgate showed him no faith yet loved Mount essentially doing what he did today..just standing in pockets.Should of bought Maddison
Agreed because otherwise the silence is going to become deafening. We will see what happens, I still trust Ten Hag. I'd love to hear him talk about it clearly and in a decent amount of depth.
He was good for Vitesse, you know. It's an utter head-scratcher as to why ETH thought this guy should be a priority signing.
Yeah, man to think an average PL player could tear it up in the Dutch league, it's almost like the Dutch isn't that good, someone should tell Ten Hag.He was good for Vitesse, you know.
It's very hard to comment on without hearing Ten Hag talk about it. With what some clubs are spending on backup for all we know he was brought as backup to Bruno and for the wide positions and Ten Hag expected us to act like a big club and be able to sign Amrabat or whoever.Someone… please… other than just “trust the manager” , “give him time” , “it’s only two games”
please tell me what the point of this signing was.
The really really sad thing is, deep down, it probably does come down to this.He was good for Vitesse, you know.
A back up and given the no7 shirt? It's very hard to comment on without hearing Ten Hag talk about it. With what some clubs are spending on backup for all we know he was brought as backup to Bruno and for the wide positions and Ten Hag expected us to act like a big club and be able to sign Amrabat or whoever.
We will have no idea.
Who knows, that could have just been a commercial decision as he's very sellable. Or he just asked for it and Ten Hag couldn't care less as it's just a shirt number.A back up and given the no7 shirt?
Yeah I doubt that.
Also amrabat himself is a back up level midfielder not a starting one.
