The thing is if you want to buy a player that can make a difference, you have to spend that much money. Buying squad players for 30 million each is all well and good but it doesnt really make that much of a difference to the squad in the end. It is only good if you need cover and depth in certain positions.I will tell you why.
Because as a fan, if we are planning to spend £150M (or whatever the latest cost is), then I'd prefer we spend that money on another player OR 2 other players.
There comes a point where as a fan, I think we could spend that money more wisely, to get better results on the pitch. That's all.
£100M for Pogba would be "okay". But if its any more than this, then I'd seriously suggest we look at other players.
But if you want to truly improve the squad you have to spend real money on top quality players. Now while whether or not Pogba is top quality at the moment is up for debate, what isnt up for debate is his ridiculous potential. He has done so much at such a young age. Well worth the risk.
