So now we're set up to lump the ball up to the big man. No creativity, no magic, no nothing. If Mourinho wants to play like that just use Fellaini.

Can't forget Blind having this guy in his pocket just using his intelligence to neutralise him, and we're £75M for that. I've never personally been so disappointed by a transfer.

You'd rather have Fellaini up front than Lukaku?

We are only a goalkeeper away from being able to field an actual first team of ethnic minorities (assuming TFM is a first teamer)...

Suarez has never missed playing in the PL more.

It's nice to pull one over on Chelsea, unless it means they'll go after Morata now...
What does it matter to pull one over on Chelsea? I personally think they've dodged a bullet.

I'm sorry but what the actual feck are you talking about?

Are you saying having a 20+ goal a season striker doesn't matter or something? I never even mentioned anything about winning the league.
I am saying he's a limited flat track bully that won't be an improvement on what we had last season. I didn't say having a 20+ goals a season striker doesn't matter. He's a lazy striker that needs lots of crosses coming in and will force us to be more defensive because he's too lazy to press the back line.

Just because we've agreed a fee, doesn't mean he's definitely coming to United? Chelsea could also now agree a fee and then it would be up to the player?

feck me. Morata is obviously a better forward. Hope this turns out good. He is a Mourinho type of player tough...

Can't help feeling disheartened a bit. The likes of Griezmann could've really changed the way we play, better movement and all that (which we're desperate for)...can't see us benefiting from Lukaku like that?
Same here, we're not setup to play to his strengths. I'll be disappointed if it's just him as I don't think it will solve the issues we had last season

I like this. I am a Lukaku fan. Big, quick, clinical and very ambitious. A real Jose type of striker.

I was getting really pissed off with Madrid. Absolutely crazy what they are doing in the Morata case. It's terrible when teams try to milk us dry because they think we have no options. Let them buzz off.

I think Chelsea will now go for Morata. Good luck to them. If we do sign Lukaku, I wouldn't want us to sign Morata too. I prefer we go for an older, less expensive striker willing to be rotated or we just take the risk of relying on the young lads (Rashford and Martial) to deputize again with the hope that last season was their worst ever.

People keep saying 'flat track bully'.

I wonder what they think our main issues have been for the past 2/3 seasons.

you're going off on loads of weird tangents here that have zero to do with my post. I never debated any of that (although I disagree with most of it).

Perhaps we don't need to be too worried about goals against top teams if the strategy is to beat up on poor teams and play for draws against the best sides.

would be over the moon with this

Kane vs Lukaku

2016/17 Premier League goals excluding penalties
(Think this is the fairest like-for-like comparison)

Kane: 23
Lukaku: 24

Bear in mind that Kane played in a much better attack.
I think you also have to bear in mind that Lukaku gets more than a few of his goals on breakaways too. That isn't how United play so there will need to be some adjustment. Don't understand this TBH. Morata would have been a better fit but I'm happy wherever Lukaku goes, United or Chelsea, because I've never rated him as top quality and don't feel he would strengthen either team. He likely suits Chelsea's modus operandi better though so United is perfect.

One things for sure, Jose really will stop at nothing to make sure Lukaku doesn't get a chance at Chelsea.

A flat track bully is what we need to win the league.

We shot ourself in the foot with the Pogba fee

Now we are paying the price!

Just wondering what £19m in 2001 would be in today's money

This is a club that sold Stones for £50 million do you think they would ever have sold him for less? The Rooney deal probably lowering the fee some more

I'm thinking this is a ploy by UTD and Everton to force the hands of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

I don't think this is a done deal....yet.

What's the big difference? Both boring, no creativity. Plus Fellaini is a nice guy, can't stand Lukaku and his attitude thinking he's better than he is.

I'm sorry man, really disappointed.

He's not worth the money but we needed a striker and the market is thin at the moment. I guess at least he won't need to adjust to the PL like Morata would. I don't think he'll ever be good enough to take United to the heights we ultimately aspire to but we're nowhere near there right now. It is a bit disappointing we couldn't find anyone better given our scouting network, though.

We've obviously been given assurances he's signing from our pal Mino.

WTF now they're saying no deal agreed?

I'm amazed at the reaction to this signing on here.

I'm so certain that he's going to be excellent for us. Guaranteed goals and has become more consistent more recently. He's still getting better and he's already pretty fecking good.

My only concern is that he seems to bully the smaller teams and score for fun against them but I don't remember him having many, or any, good games against the top 5 or 6?

I remember in the semi final of the FA Cup against us he missed countless chances.

I'd say that him bullying smaller teams would be his most beneficial quality. If only we had him to put away those games against the likes of Burnley, Stoke and bournemouth we would have finished in a much stronger league position.

I'm wondering why Mourinho is so obsessed with huge physical men? Is it because he's a short arse?

I cannot take the credit for this but on another forum this was posted
So the price is 2 Andy Carroll's and a Rickie Lambert.

What's the difference, really?

Guys this stuff is crazy.

@Judas you really see no difference between Lukaku and Fellaini?

I once saw a near retired Dennis Irwin boss Ronaldo. These things can happen in isolation.

Jim White says bid was rejected and no Deal agreed. Wonder what he actually knows? Is he an actual journalist or just a presenter?

He's definitely less talented compared to Morata technically but with strikers you can't just judge based on technical ability.
