Maybe he can be the next Xabi? Lord knows it'd give Florentino no end of satisfaction, especially against AS, if Illarramendi matures into the player he was meant to be when he was signed.
He is obviously a talented player but seems to be suffering mentally and hasn't really being able to adapt to the pressure of playing for Madrid. If he gets over that he can be a good and maybe even player for Madrid. We will certainly need him this year as we are lightweight in midfield.
Nah, don't think he'll cut it, I bet we'll be in for Vidal in January.

Where's Khedira though? Wasn't he back from injury?

Shows what a bit of confidence can do. Was terrific for us for 3 years when he knew his role and was happy and Moyes ruined him. He needed a move for himself. Delighted for him.

Isco - 1 start, 5 sub appearances, 3 assists. He needs to get out of there ASAP.

You were up against Sidnei and Luisinho, two of the worse players i´ve seen playing in the portuguese league. Hardly a challenge

100 per cent agree. Rio said as much too.

I like this Madrid team, conceded 2 against this Depor team. If they play this midfield against Barca, I will be very happy.

Still better than Benzema tho.
 He had a good game today and pressed the Deportivo defence and worked very hard, creating space for others and set up James' goal. Far more important than Hernandez' goals which while they were great, were only the icing in the cake.

Well, that's the Riazor "curse" firmly put to bed then... only the 3rd time they've beaten Depor away in the league since 1991, but the other two were narrow margins (3-1 in 2010 and 2-1 in 2013, I think).

This Depor team has nothing to do with the great teams from those days. It´s filled with garbage players who shouldn´t be playing in the spanish league. Luisinho was bought by Benfica and loaned just months after, being completely out of depth. Sidnei is a overweight horrible player, Benfica is just loaning him constantly till he contract runs out. Cavaleiro played 80% of last season at Benfica B and finally Postiga, well, he doesn´t really need any presentation. They will probably get relegated again.

Much better pressing from the forwards today than in any of the other matches. Hopefully the team will keep improving in such a manner and the work-rate will not drop. I would only single out Bale for not working as hard as he should have and for not tucking in and tracking back well enough. We have to keep improving as there will be much tougher teams than Deportivo ahead.

Great game by James also. What a world class goal he scored and he set up Ronaldo later after winning the ball off the defender which was a deserved reward for him after working hard all game and closing Deportivo down. It has been a very good week for him and hopefully he will build on it. He has handled the pressure of playing for Madrid and his price-tag well so far but he has to keep going and improving. The media want him to fail as they do all big money signings so he will have to deal with that like they all do but so far so good for him. I am happy with him so far but he has to keep going and not let his hard work or all-round performances drop.

 What the shit? I would have never known he was capable of that! Did he ever score from outside the box for us?
Too many idiot fans of ours claiming all he could do was poach goals. Tried to tell people over and over he showed great improvement in his overall game but they just wouldn't listen.

I'm an idiot because he never displayed anything of the sort whenever he played for us? Okay.

Same thing with Ruud. Tbf, the vast majority of goals were poacher goals but that doesn't mean that they aren't capable of anything else.

Why don't we batter teams like Real?

We could've won 8-0 or something against QPR but we stopped playing completely second half.

It is though. Just because he scores one screamer from distance doesn't change that although "idiot fans" will have you think otherwise. His link up play is awful. The amount of attacks that broke down when he got on the ball was unacceptable. He offers a threat in behind defences and is obviously dangerous inside the box. However, he has never offered much outside it. One good strike doesn't change that.

Yes, certainly so considering he showed improvements in his overall game time and time again yet I had to listen to bollocks about how he couldn't pass, run or do anything other than score goals from eight yards out.

One goal doesn't change anything, who said it did? It just highlights though that he's capable of more than just poaching inside the box. Nobody ever came out and said his overall game was outstanding, it was people coming out saying he couldn't do anything other than the above which was absolute bollocks. It didn't help that under Moyes he wasn't given a proper look in and had his confidence shot to pieces too. Same old United fans quick to shit on anything and everything.

It's one of those lazy generalizations that get trotted out. You notice who is actually watching the game and who is just spouting shit. Ditto for Ozil.

His passing and dribbling are both terrible. Like I said the amount of moves that broke down when he got possession just wasn't good enough. He's Fellaini-esque in that regard. As for his dribbling although he has great pace he rarely managed to beat a player.

He is a goal poacher plain and simple basically. His all round game is average but he is excellent in the box. He is a poor man's RVN I guess and there are many similarities between the two although the latter was better at holding the ball up.

Atléti 1-0 down to Celta at the Calderón... Only 25 mins in but still, is any home side going to win today?
