That's proper **** stuff right there. I'm already picturing the look of fear on the Anfield night guard's face as he does his rounds at the stadium and looks onto the pitch; a pile of wood burning on the centre circle as dozens of pasty middle aged full kit wankers skip around it chanting incessantly "We Go. You Go. Title Chances No Go." over and over. Atop the firey embers is the charred remains of Mighty Red, who has clearly tried to drag his broken legged carcus off the spit as the chanting drowned out his screams. He still has that stupid smile on his face, though.

It's funny watching them suffer and that...

However, they were the better team yesterday and the result flattered us no end.
 The better team* that just so happened to lose 3-0, huh?

*implies a collective of 11 individuals and their performance as a whole, not separately (eg. 8 good and 3 bad performances is not a good "team")

In an apple vacuum...
The bolds aren't mine. They're in proper weird places. Anyway, time to post this epic...

This nonsense about Liverpool not being able to challenge again next season

Before I start, I just want to say how chuffed I am to hear our manager say the same things in a post match interview, the same things that I am about to echo again here. For you. For us. For the competition.

He speaks a lot of sense a lot of the time Brendan in this football world of utter nonsense.

Now to the thread title....

I keep hearing and seeing this all over, mainly from rival supporters....but I've also picked up on it in the media. Its started.

It all seemed to start immediately after the Chelsea game. (How convenient)

You know, you've probably heard it yourselves by now:

"This was our best chance, next season will be different, more games for Liverpool with the Champions League, other teams will improve" etc etc etc

What people fail to mention (because it suits them not to right about now) is that, of course Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United etc etc will all add to their squads. Of course they will......

BUT. SO. WILL. WE.

(Thats the FIRST point Rodgers made.)

What people also fail to mention at this moment in time, is the same thing applies to all those teams around us. How could Arsenal be 1st this season for so long with all those extra games? How could Man City win the league with all those extra games in Europe? Why aren't Chelsea sitting in 7th right now because they got to the Champions League semi-finals?

Its absolute rubbish to target us with. Rubbish.

Look at the last 18 months or so we have had in this league. Look at it!

With what we have.

Did any of us seriously think before this season started we'd be up there challenging till the last-fecking-day?

No, most of our expectations were top 4. We were made to believe and dream big once again because of THIS team. We didn't go into this season believing that - THIS team MADE us believe it, they forced us to believe and dream, in a world that told us otherwise. THEY made it seem possible. It was possible because of THEM.

We've exceeded those original expectations and done INCREDIBLE with what we have. With what we HAVE and what we have in comparison to Man City's overall team is not a lot. Yet we pushed them (beat them once, hard done by at the Etihad) all the way and if it wasn't for us slipping up, we would of won the whole thing with what we HAVE....and that what we HAVE can STILL be improved on.

Don't forget this.

(Thats the SECOND point Rodgers made after the game.)

There is still plenty of room for improvement and the key thing is our manager knows where it is, butmost importantly he knows very well and understands there is room for that improvement. Improvement on THIS team......a team just 3 points from winning the league.

Our defence can be improved. But with THAT defence, yes.....THAT defence......we nearly won the league!?! THAT defence can be improved on. The squad can be improved on.

We will improve it.

What then? What if we concede less goals and still score the same amount of goals? What if our squad is improved on and it is deep enough and good enough to handle the extra games?

If anything, all this nonsense coming from rival supporters right about now, confirms one thing to me and one thing only.....and its the most important thing and all I need to know.

They are worried.

We are Liverpool.

They. ARE. Worried.

Just thought I'd quote this classic from earlier in the season.

At the office... :\
It's the punctuation between words that does it for me. It's like a politician banging the lectern with his fist to emphasise his point mid speech, except this is more like a scouser banging their face on the keyboard in their excitement at being nearly men, again.

Laughing. OUT. Loud.

Disagree here (on the latter, the former is bloody brilliant). We were just poor defensively. They were poor all over the field.

Do they have matchday threads where people can post during the games or is that banned? I can never seem to find them.

I know the mods there are like the gestapo reincarnated, but when someone posts a legitimate thread and it is locked due to poor timing (just after the United game), you have got to think that there is something wrong with the forum.

I don't know if they have one for during their games but go into the general matchday thread involving other games, watch the reaction when United score a goal.

They close the pre-match thread when the game starts, and open a commentary thread when only the mods can post (updates in the match). Then they open an another thread in half time when posters post their thoughts, but which get closed when the second half starts.

The other part of the forum is open, but I don't know if they are allowed to post during the match (they are discouraged to do so, but no idea if they get punished or not if they post).

That's just Brenden using Pearce as his mouthpiece. Which sets up two things:

1. Puts the fans back on his side. Not a surprise, he's been playing them like a fiddle since he started.

2. He's chucking all the blame on the transfer comitee. Throwing names he'd like into the conversation. If he's heading for the exit which looks likely it maintains his reputation.

Most of RAWK is lapping it up though. Keep Rodgers at Pool

Given that internally at pool it will be obvious who briefed the journalist (Pearce had an article in May with more direct quotes from rogers saying he and only he had final say on every transfer by the way) its safe to assume Rogers already knows hes gone at some point, end of season I should think. I'm not entirely sure where they go from here to be honest, they do not have the players to compete, and I doubt they will be able to go on another £100 million plus spending spree again any time soon, so a new manager would be hamstrung from day 1.

this is what happens when you can afford to pay an 18 year old £120k per week, a crock loanee £240k per week and a decent Real Madrid reject £200k per week on top of all of the other ridiculous wages like Rooney £300k per week and RVP £200k per week for example.

I'm not crying unfair, just making you realise that we cut our cloth accordingly......

It would be absolutely brilliant if they get FSW next season. The fans will be expecting great things, the delusion would be strong and then the meltdown when he eventually fails to win them the title (or get near it) will be even better.

He'll make them dream again. But just dream.

Saying that, he's likely a better manager than Rodgers.
