Besides they can spend however much, but it's not going to guarantee a signing of an elite attacker. Lacazette would be a very good signing but he's a tier below the likes of Hazard, Sanchez and Aguero.

Unless they sign Bale, they will be lagging behind both City and Arsenal for the title.
Bale is the key to catching up??? get on it Woody.

Don't give a feck what anyone says, Rooney's an elite striker and has been much longer than Hazard or Sanchez (not saying he's better before someone bites my head off, just that he's been a top 10 striker for over 10 years).

Any oppo fan who doesn't recognise just how good our squad is now, is a qualified idiot.

I love that they've had to completely give up on comparing our squad to theirs, as even they can't fool themselves into thinking there's any kind of a contest now, and they've moved on to telling us how much worse than Chelsea we still are.

Any crumb of comfort for the guys who have to try and build a team around Jordan Henderson and James Milner, I guess.

I just had my first look on RAWK and some fecker has said "Every team is only as good as they were at the end of last season".

I want to hear JohnnoWhite's thoughts on our signings.
He'll probably say how embarrassed he is that we're ruining football by throwing money around for players we want, when we should be following Liverpool's heroic example of getting in loads of free transfers.

Probably something like:

Never rated Schneiderlin, if he was that good he wouldn't be playing for Southampton. For that Damian fella, I haven't heard about him and Italian players don't make it in England. Schweinsteiger was always overrated and now is always injured and isn't as good as before. Saw Depay for Netherland in World Cup and he was shit, even Dirk Kuyt was starting ahead of him.

I hope that this signing will work but I am not convinced. YAWN (oops, wasn't supposed to say that)

It's sad to see my once great club throwing money around like water. gone are the days when we had a decent youth acadamy, i remember when i was 21 in 1929 i was talking to fellow united fans who would shake their heads at signing a player for £100. now to waste £14m on a midfielder that only wants to fleece our bank account is criminal. To add to that we have signed a midfielder from Southampton after Mr Rodgers had already signed the cream of that crop, it is a sad time to be a United supporter. I actually prefer what Liverpool have done, they have signed a world class talent in Milner and the best right back since cafu in that Young Clyne boy. you never see Liverpool spend a fortune on players, their net spend is amazing.

I was listening to the radio today and "you'll never walk alone" came on, it brought a tear to my eye remembering the change in power between our two great clubs over the past 2 years. it makes me sad to think that we were outplayed twice by Liverpool last season and still managed to steal 6 points. sad times.
I think he would say something like this.

He will probably bang on about a new crop of kids United developed themselves.... free: G. Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Some Beckham kid etc... possibly the best generation since his beloved Busby Babes.
We will have lost our soul to do otherwise.

From Liverpool's official forums:
Don't think he will have as great an impact as people think.

Think he will share a lot of games with Carrick, he's coming to the end of his career and wants one big pay day. And Bayern don't care if he goes, says a lot.

Would've worried me a lot more if he'd gone to Utd when they wanted him after the 2010 World Cup. He can't run a midfield like he used to.
Damn right, give me Joe Allen for 15m any day of the week.

I just tried to find something funny on there but there is a lot of sense in the United thread.
What's happened to them?

I just read the whole of that page. Page 660. First time skulking on rawk. Mixed in with a couple of really bitter gimps were quite a few fans who sounds like they've been completely broken this weekend thanks to woody (delicious) but also a fair few rawkers who seemed alright, saying fair dos.

One chap even says they're to blame for fecking up the 90s while we got mega rich. Great stuff, wiuld read again.

In short though, a lot of them seem normal. 660 though. More than double this thread. Very obsessed.
Link please?

Their top top bellends must still be on summer break.

Quite sensible on the whole, atm :(.

With the Welsh Xavi and the Geordie Gerrard too they'll be unstoppable. It's a real pity we haven't signed 2 midfielders too. We are so far further ahead in quality than them now it's making me have a bit of a chuckle.

I love quotes like that, a right back to replace "potentially world class" Glenn Johnson, and a player literally nobody has ever heard of until 3 weeks ago.

There isn't a single person on that forum who has seen Firmino kick a ball in anger I would wager, they can't in all honestly say one way or the other how good he is.

love it, united sign 3 players, spending 60 odd mil and whose on the back pages? Forever in our shade.
Wait, so is he actually happy that they're selling their best player because it's the leading story on the back pages?
