We probably have more hope of getting him in a couple of years AFTER Real are done with him and cast him aside to pursue Verratti or Sanches or whoever.

I just hope their ban is imposed, or we blow them out of the water financially.

How much of them were signed under Florentino Perez?
There are several mulatos in the list but I think that: Flavio, Makelele, Robinho,Baptista, Diarra, Emerson, Drenthe, Lass, Adebayor, Essien and Ronaldo

I was once told Real Madrid don't sign black attacking players.
How we defining black? Cos they signed Luis Ronaldo. Heck they even signed Royston Drenthe off the back of a decent Euro U21s tourney. I find it hard to believe that Madrid has any racially based policies towards players.

£70m is really a joke of a figure. He is not worth this amount. He is a good player but if we end up paying that much then we are just stupid.
Best case scenario we have a top, top player for 10+ years. Worst case scenario we sell him after 3-4 years and recoup most if not all of the money anyway.

If he wants to come this should be a no-brainer in my opinion. And it's not as if we can't afford it.

Its almost impossible to say what a top-level player is "worth" anymore in today's market, with so much money pouring into the game.

What I will say is that I don't think Pogba will ever be one of the top five, maybe even top 10, most influential players in the world. Its just very hard to reach that level of influence unless you are a player that either scores/assists tons of goals or a player that fundamentally controls matches from midfield through passing and tactical acumen. Pogba is a fantastic talent but I don't see him ever falling into either category. He can still be great - maybe even the best in the world - at what he does, but what he does will always be less important than what certain other players do.

If Pogba is available, we go for him. I don't care if we look like mugs signing him back, he's the type of player that you sign if he's sniffing a move.

I would be happy for us to pay 100 million for him, he would be the ultimate signing for me to get excited about so I really don't mind what it would take to bring him here. So what if people think its silly us spending that much to bring him back, 20% of any fee would be worth it just to make rival fans sick with envy. Pay what it takes and worry about that later, I want my Pogba back!!!

Lets hope he gets excited about the prospect of playing under Mourinho, in the premier league and alongside Martial and Ibrahimovic ahead of going to Real madrid... It's a long shot, but I would think we have as good a chance as anyone if we go for him and Madrid isn't in the question. We have the money, fame, stadium, and Pogba has plenty of friends at the club still I would assume.
Really a long shot, his advisers will be against a such move they will consider foolish... but Gosh, if only it could happen. Pogba, Schneiderlin and Martial together in this team, wow. And if Griezmann comes to complete the group, yep. I wouldn't know how to feel but I like this team.

For those who say don't buy someone who left us, would you say the same if we had the chance of buying back a Scholes/keane/Zidane etc? The guy is class, going to get better and we'll be buying someone who still has to peak.

He's going to be one of the world's best midfielders for a good 5-8 years, sign if we can. I'm all for this but won't happen

Baptista, Ronaldo Lima, Adebayor and Robinho were attacking players. So that debunks the myth that Real don't sign black attacking players. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Pogba not worth 70m

Have you been living under a rock for the past 5 years? It's not 2012 anymore. The best players usually go for that amount now. Sterling 50m, Stones rumoured 50m. Shaw 30m. If those guys are worth that then Pogba is easily worth 70m. Maybe even more.

He's the best young player in the world for me. Only next to Neymar. The fact that he's got "United blood" in him makes the signing even more logical. He's exactly what we need. A big powerhouse in the middle who can go box to box and bang long shots in. Plus he'll have that sexy French chemistry with Schneiderlin :D

Well Marcelo and Pepe right? I think the story about Real Madrid and players of color started with Makelele and the Eto'o story (was 50% Real Madrid but did not have a chance to perform and ended up in Barcelona). But I really don't think it's based on any tangible facts. Makelele wanted more money but instead was sold. Again, I don't think it was related to his ethnicity, but more that Real Madrid board does not necessarily value a #6 very highly, while they should.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
If it's true that he wants Madrid and we'd only be a backup option at best, then id sooner move on to someone that does want to be here. There's no point signing these types of players because in this day and age they don't stick about long. We're trying to rebuild so why bring in someone temporarily. Just get the right player now.

He can be interested by both clubs.

Mate, he's not even the best 23yo in his position...

I think people just want to pretend that football is same as few years back. Pogba being valued at 40mil odd. Unbelievable

This will be the cafe transfer saga of 2016.

I think he prefers Real Madrid and if they want him, he'll sign for them.

We seem like a distant 2nd choice.

Knowing us, we'll probably splash 80m for James and help them sign him.

Don't know why he'd come back here, considering we got rid. He comes across as very confident and assured that he will become one of the bpitw. I can't imagine him choosing to return especially if Madrid are interested.

Would he play as the furthest forward midfielder for us? Or one of the deeper two in Jose's favoured 4231? Haven't seen much of him since about 2014.

Yes that would be the rational move... but, but... I don't know, Paul Pogba, who played at United before? It's a dream come true if he just wants to finish a business and create a legacy with his name.

Can't see the club paying 60m for someone who went on a free just 4 years ago. Poor business for yes a top player, but slightly overrated.

I'd hope we'd do what's best for the club. Jose clearly doesn't care about this sort of thing, as we've seen. If he's available for 60m, i'm sure he'd be all over it.

If that's the case I almost hope Madrid sign him ASAP just to avoid yet another torturous transfer saga we've been subjected to these last few years.

I hope we sign Andre Gomes instead of Pogba. He wasn't even great in our youth teams. I wouldn't be surprised if he dissapoints again at Euro 16 like he did in the Worldcup a few years back.

The funny thing is that he got "best young player" at the World Cup after being average at best. This kid's hype knows no boundaries.
