To me it sounded like he was just saying that just because United spent a lot of money doesn't mean that Liverpool are out of it. The injury was just one example of how nothing is set in stone. The team spirit was the other half and that it can go a long way to compete. Basically, if money was the only thing that mattered in football, he would be gone because there would be no more coaching involved.My takeway from that article was he thinks paying so much for one player is putting all your eggs in one basket. If he got injured....
The problem with that thinking is it does not take into account what a special player can contribute. Of course any player can get injured.
