Is it time to celebrate?
How about a RED steak, grilled to perfection, with RED bell peppers, RED potatoes, and a nice RED wine to wash it all down!! Coming right up!
We are going to enjoy our football again, I can't wait!!!!

Where'd 74m come from? I can't help but feel they pulled that out of FM2016, because that's his release clause on there. :wenger:
Value of the £ before brexit.

Thanks, interestingly though Lampard and Gerrard in Jose's time in England thrived as the most attacking player in a midfield 3.
It's very interesting that he said he didn't have that type of player in this Manchester United team. He could drop the 10 for a 3rd central midfielder. The way Rooney is playing as a 10 makes that choice a bit easier.

Well, exactly what he said. €105m would've been worth £74m before the pound crashed, it's now worth £89m.

This thread had somewhat a Luke Shaw sort of feel. We all knew he was coming but for some reason we were still shitting ourselves when Chelsea interest was being reported.

Surprised the mods have been so lenient. Standards are slipping.
We've banned and threadbanned a lot of posters as well as deleted hundreds of spammy posts. There are just too many idiots these days who think saying nothing is saying something.

This thread will be missed. Don't know when we will have such a transfere saga like this. But with Jose it's possible to have the world's best because everyone would like to play under him IMO.

He pretty much wants Pogba to be his Gerrard, Lampard or Scholes type of player.
Yeah that Gerrard role ahead of the double pivot is perfect - allows us to utilize his strengths whilst mitigating the impact of his positional indiscipline. Just to put the fee into perspective, anyone would have broken the then world record fee for either Scholes, Gerrard or Lampard twelve years ago. If he has a similar impact then the fee would be forgotten just like Martial's is no longer mentioned.

I guess the fact this saga has been drawn out over so many weeks makes the final stages feel a little... anticlimatic.

But then I remind myself that, even ignoring his United past, we're signing Paul fecking Pogba!

On paper, at least, Jose has built one hell of a new spine to the team.

I would almost certainly say that will be the case. He was shackled in that defensive role and I think Mourinho will be smart enough to play him in a role which best suits his current strengths.
There was an interview with Mourinho before the game where Mourinho was asked what Pogba could bring and he was saying how hard it is to find midfielders that bridge the gap between midfield and a number 10 as players that can do defensive duties but also attack and score goals and named Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard as examples so I think we can expect to see him playing box to box and the playmaker of the side.

I dont think he would have came or we would have spent that kind of money anyway for him to be used in that way. I wsonder who his partner will be as even with Schweinsteiger out of the equation we are still left with Schneiderlin, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera and even Pereirra and Mensah, that is a hell of a lot of players for one position, ironically none of which seem ideal to me anyway (well Mensah does longer term but I doubt he will get a chance this season).
Including Schweinsteiger all of our midfield signings have probably been bought for the role Pogba will play, considering how dissapointing all of them have been the last three years it make the £89m a really good deal as we have spent more than that on four players who have all been pretty poor so far. Pogba brings that strength, power and drive that none of those signings have, Schweisteiger had it in abundance too four or five years ago though.

No doubts at all Pogba will be a great signing for us, and on a side note, early days but Bailly looks a steal for £30m with todays prices, give him a year and he will be one of the best in the world I reckon

We don't have a beast of a DM to grant Pogba a hunting lice from that deep role as it would leave Carrick isolated and make vulnerable to getting overrun in midfield. The only way to get the best out of Pogba and maintain the team's balance is to play him as the furthest forward midfielder in a 4-3-3. Pair Carrick with a defensive box to box CM, TFM can be moulded into one imo, and give Pogba the free role.

Doesn't include the portion we're paying to that snake of an agent I assume. Still, I'd rather have Pogba than all these dollars sitting in some account.

£89m reported fee doesn't include Raiola's fee, as per Di Marzio:
Here are the financial details of the deal: Pogba will cost United 105 million euros plus another 5 million euros in bonuses (to be paid in 3 years). The bonus money included in the deal can be reached if Pogba renews his contract with United within the next 5 years or if he is sold by United for a number superior to 50 million euros. These are the final numbers which do not include Raiola's agent fees as he brokered a deal.
So this new fee that's been floated around isn't reflective of the overall cost by any means.

Didn't some journo say that Raiola agreed to take a cut on the 20m he was supposed to get and will now be getting around half of that? I think someehere in this thread there is something about this.

Pogback lol. Very original
#POGBACK wtf  I love it.
So, has 'Pogback' been trademarked yet?
United were reading the thread, waiting till we got 1000 pages and steeling muppets original thoughts! trademarking is a process, a process I should have done :D

Would like to think United will be doing a 'Its Zlatan Time' clip with Pogba like a 'Guess who's back' or 'I'm back' #Pogback kinda thing

Agreed. The other ones were

He is talking euros?
I know he is....we're paying Juve €105m rising to a potential €110m, which works out to £89m rising to a potential £93m. Those fees exclude the Raiola fee, making the total cost of the transfer a fair bit more than £89m. €110m to Juve and €20m to Raiola have been widely floated around weeks ago now, so those figures fit in with that.

Didn't some journo say that Raiola agreed to take a cut on the 20m he was supposed to get and will now be getting around half of that? I think someehere in this thread there is something about this.
No that was dismissed by Di Marzio. What they said was that Juve would pay €4m and that we would pay €20m. People assumed it would be a 50/50 split between us and Juve but that wasn't what was reported by the reliable Journalists.

United paying Raiola but only leaking what we're paying Juve is pathetic as we're paying the % that they owe him for moving him to them from us on a free transfer.

I'm happy he's signed but the club's negotiaters look pathetic. Not a popular view on this place but that's just my opinion.
