In hindsight he should have started considering how under par Rashford looked, I think he should either start up front against Burton to see how that would work or start out on the wing against Southampton on Saturday.

Cool head for the pen as well, if he's a regular starter I think he should be our pen taker.

That header in the build up was very clever too. I thought Lingard had out him too wide on the return pass, but what a turn.

I wish either him or Rashford were left footed so we have both on the pitch at the same time. His dribbling is ridiculous at times

They can still be on the pitch at the same time. We can play with Martial on the left and Rashford on the right. While I like Mata as a player I still find the RW position is a not a good fit for him or the team.

Mata or Mkhi as 10? I feel Mkhi has more special moments but Mata is consistently decent/good, doesnt lose the ball and passes good, releases the ball on the correct time.

I'd start Mkhi ahead of Mata because his speed would be more in tune with the rest of the attack, plus he has more of an offensive contribution than Mata despite being more wasteful.. almost always. But if Martial and Rashford can rotate one position, I'm sure Mata & Mkhi can do the same.

Did more than Rashford did in the 5 minutes he played.
Yup, and in previous games it's been the reverse. That's why, at the moment at least, its great to have one of them to bring off the bench. Their explosiveness, pace and dribbling ability is deadly against tired legs.

Couldn't agree more. I just hope that the two of them can stay healthy.

He'll be our best player if we can get the best out of him. The most talented player at the club.

His desire to score reminds me a lot of Ronaldo. He's not nearly as selfish but you knew right from the moment he got the penalty that he wasn't going to let anyone else take it.

I thought Mourinho should have put him in at the 60 minute mark, for Rashford and instead of Lingard. At that time, the game was still in the balance and we were fighting for it. Does Mourinho not trust Martial in those situations, or is lingard just better for what Mou wanted to do at the time?

I feel he might be even more talented than the everfamous Pogba, but he needs some consistency and faith. And a proper left back behind him to make that step up. He wont be a striker though, maybe if he went to a club like PSG/Liverpool/City/Monaco with fast attackers and a lot of interplay. Their strikers are almost never isolated.

I know we have loads of shit armchair psychology going on on the Caf, but I'll say this. It was great seeing how happy he was at scoring the goal.

Yeah, get the impression he wasn't actually so sure about him taking the pen, but that Martial probably did it to show Jose he's up for it.
It wasn't good but it did the job. Happy with his short cameo today.

I still get this nagging feeling that his future may lie as a more central player. His hold up play early in his United career was fantastic. His finishing from close range is excellent. He has really good insticts in and around goal whether it be his touch or decision making. And even the goal today the way he headed it into space and then turned to make the run in behind, I do wonder if his skills are better suited centrally.

Of course he's young and his best football for us has probably come out wide but I don't think it has to be set in stone simply because we've signed Lukaku.

Thats because we were two or three nil up and there was more space, as Everton were pouring men forward. He is also fresher because he has just come on.
Lets be honest here. If Rashford was in that same 1v1, based on his performance today he would have ran the ball into no mans land or gotten himself dispossessed. Rashford had one of the worst performances I've ever seen of him in a United shirt, so there is no question on my mind that Martial was a lot better today.

For me he is a striker, which is a bit annoying because of Rashford and Lukaku but it is what it is. I think this is why Mourinho was trying the 3-5-2 earlier as well because if really suits most of our players.

After Messi and Robben he has the best close control at pace I've seen. It's unstoppable

We all love United
Was it Giggs or van Gaal who identified him and brought him to the club? So glad we have one of France's young and biggest talents at the club ourselves (not counting Pogba)

Martial has some of the filthiest dribbles in him. One things that's been consistent this season, is that he at least does a youtube level highlight move in each game he's played.

Definitely - playing someone like martial and his dribbling ability solely on the left means he becomes easier to read defensively as he really has one direction to dribble towards to cause trouble.

Centrally he can shift left or right & actually take on the defender normally ending by taking a shot on goal.

352 is the future. Martial & Rashford are wasted on the wings.
