I'll always respect Mata, because no matter his form he always gives a shit.

Top top composure from Mata, as per when he's in the box. Wish we'd see him in those positions more often.

Love Mata. Always a favourite. Technical ability above the vast majority of our squad. Feck his detractors.

Whenever we have free kicks I don't feel confident no matter who steps up to take it but I had a positive feeling when Mata stood up. Great!

I love this beautiful human being. Great to see him in top form tonight. He has taken too much stick from our fans on here.

Sucha beautiful player. If it were up to me, I'd give him a contract for life

@Raees

You tagged me when he played bad. It’s only fair I return the compliment ;)

I wanna hug him rotten right now.
Fair is fair. He's been brilliant tonight and the goals have just been icing on the cake.

Sublime goal and free kick. Such a superb technician, I was worried in the first 25 minutes he was absolutely dreadful and his first pass and shot looked underhit like he was a teenager with skinny legs! Alarming! Superb after the confidence boost and he always gives a shit and has the right attitude. I wish it would rub off more onto the peripheral players.

The goals were great. He wasn't as good in general play as people are saying.

I’ve no stats to back this up, but I feel like the amount of times he’s been taken off when we’re holding a lead, only to concede because we can’t retain possession well is somewhat considerable.

Arsenal at home last year. We were on top of them, then took him off to concede that gut wrenching goal from Giroud.

The fact that Mourinho generally doesn't prioritize ball retention and possession when sitting on a league is definitely costing us. Mata is a symbol of that.

Great job today by Mata. Deserves to play more. One of the most intelligent and technically gifted players we have.

Looking over my shoulder.
Two super goals. Rest of his performance was ordinary.
He played really well and worked his socks off. Surprisingly wasn't left for dead when Gray sprinted forwards early in the first half - looked like he was about to explode, but well done. Mata makes us play better. Great game from him. Too bad Martial and Rashford were utter craaaaap tonight.

Was great today, just wish he could perform like that more often. The Mata conundrum cycle hits again, we are in the good phase currently.

He's been brilliant for a good few weeks now. In fact all of December. He's got 2 goals and 3 assists from 4 starts. The only other match he played in was against City and that was jut 8' coming off the bench. Did so much of the playmaking while Pogba was absent

He deserved to be part of a winning team, I'm gutted for him really.

Why was him and Lingard taken off? Mourinho has some explaining to do. They were comfortably our only two good players tonight and yet we sub them off for Mkhitaryan who is heavily rumoured to be out the door next week and Ander Herrera who I can only assume was brought on to “kill the game off”

What a load of shite. City don’t stop and defend a one goal lead. They’re battering teams 3/4/5-0 on the regular. Leicester were there for the taking tonight. We could have easily scored 5 and the players should be held responsible for THAT but I don’t understand why you would deprive Mata off of his hat trick and then take off Lingard was making some excellent runs and passes. I just don’t understand that decision.

As soon as Herrera came on, I knew we would blow it at the end.

The only player we have that I expect to finish his chances, not that others are bad or that mata even always does, but when the balls falls like for the first goal, I expect mata to put it in whereas I hope other players do.

We've a game in two days against on the leagues strongest defences. We could easily have been five one up. The draw is on the players in this this case.
