If Sanchez joins Utd it'll be for the money and nothing else.

I still maintain his smart play is to wait it out at Arsenal until the Summer, sign for City for free and pick up a massive signing on fee. I feel that's what City are banking on by refusing to meet Arsenal's terms.
Why do clowns keep saying this?!
Have some pride for the team you supposedly support man!

Behave yourself, for goodness' sake. Wanting something to happen and reasoning why it may or may not happen are two entirely different things.

If we supporters want it enough does it make it happen??

Getting tired of reading this shite now. There's more to United than fecking money.

Of course that's what City are banking on. They have no immediate need for him, they can wait it out until summer, hire him and they can still buy/sell players around him. If they can get him cheap now, then he's a nice option for them, making their rotation easier.

If he comes to us, he'll come to a club that actually wants him. A bunch of fans that will welcome him not just as a player, but as a player swiped from City and Arsenal. There a lot to be said for going to a club that wants you, rather than just one that's willing to hire you when they get round to it.

And so what.

The game revolves around money and this his last big move. As long as he plays to his best effort every week then so what if he signed for money.

Those people that still believe in the romance of players signing for trophies and titles need to wise up. Those days are over.

Players will go where the money is. Loyalty to a club is transitional. The game and it's players are different. That's what you get when 90% of the players are from different countries and continents.

Let me put it in as simple terms as I can then :

He Joins Utd he gets the money.

He joins City he gets to play for Pep (which he apparently wants) and he also gets the money.

I disagree to some extent. I'm sure Sanchez is leaving Arsenal because he has no belief in their ability to win a major trophy.

He joins United, he gets Ashley Young on the overlap.

He joins City, he gets Fabian Delph on the overlap.

Must be tempting.

You'd swear Sanchez is joining a Chinese/MLS club and not for one of the world's most prestigious football teams with all these money comments flying around.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him at Utd. It just depends how his mind is working and that's something we can't know.
Maybe you should also consider the fact that Mourinho is a world class, trophy winning manager and that players will seriously consider joining him at a huge club like United as well?

Yes, City are likely to win this season, but is it too much of a long shot to say that we can win the league next season?

If Stoke offered him money, would he join them over City?

Finances play a role, but let us not underrate ourselves here. Managers put in a lot of work to convince players to join and the entire argument does not hinge on "money".

Way too much criticism of a valid point to an extent?

Is there something United can offer him that city cant? More money maybe.

Is there something City can offer him that United can't? A squad ready to win loads in his last few years on the top.

Its good to be proud, but good to be practical too.

And he wins a premier league at the very least... and has a better chance of winning more trophies.

we don't really know about this one, though, bar the League Cup, I guess. I mean Mourinho is arguably better than Pep in CL knockout games and we're both still in the FA Cup. And I wouldn't just say "future trophies" with City (i.e. the next few years) are guaranteed over us because of a spectacular half a season.

So yeah, he'll basically get a free PL medal if he joins City now over us, that's the main thing here for him choosing them, and hard to look past.

Some od our fans sure have a low opinion of the club they support.
Not so. It's simply a more or less absolute fact that if he joins City he'll get a league winner's medal this season.

Nothing at all to do with our love for Utd.

City can offer him a PL title this year, for free. Or he can go to a team where he can be a key man now and in the future. He can go to a team that's happy to wait for him to be free, or come to one that's saying it wants him, right now.

Money's always going to be a factor, but so is what it represents. There's a lot of pride in being wanted. If he's up for it, there's also a lot of pride in making a difference, and changing a team's fortunes.

all good but you get posts like he has better chance of winning trophies in the future.

Well if he comes chances of United winning trophies rise and we'll get more players in the summer. We surely won't just sit there and watch City win stuff.

I did mean future trophies.

And there is no guarantee.. at all.. But if I absolutely had to put all my money on a club, I'd back city to win the league again before United. I'd love to be wrong, but if a player had to pick a team where he thinks he would have a better chance of winning things, City would be ahead of United for most people.

Can you point me in the direction of were he apparently said "I would ike to play for pep".
The more we keep throwing this made up belief around the more it becomes truth!
Perhaps he wants to play for one of the most famous clubs in the world, with a fantastic history and be part of a new team that is being built by one of the best managers in the world.

right now yeah but the PL is notoriously difficult to retain, as we know, and some of City's key players (Silva, Aguero, Fernandinho) are near the end of the peak.

Plus, maybe he's looking at those young City wide players and how good they're playing right now and simply thinking "Well, feck, how much will I even play in the next few years?". Bernardo Silva can't even get a game there yet (obviously Sanchez is currently the better player but you get my drift). He knows if he comes here he'll be the main man, there's a lot to be said for that, and money, mainly money.

And you think what he wants more than anything else in the world is to walk in to a team that's already won the league, and pick up a medal a few months later? It's not exactly going to be a personal achievement worth shouting about. Maybe he's looking beyond the next 5 months and he'd like to be the main man at United and be a key player in winning number 21. Yeah that's right, we've won 20 titles. Just reminding you because you seem to think all united have achieved is making lots of money.

I agree. And hope he signs for us.

Both sides of the argument are correct to some extents in their own rights. So too much criticism of one side while bringing the love for the club in question is plain stupid.

Not black and white surely.

You said the only reason to come to us is money! Not massive club, worldwide support, media focuz, chance to join our past legendary players, already being the 2nd best in the country andon the up

See I don't understand this. How has he a better chance of winning more trophies at citeh? Apart from the title this season.
History repeatedly shows us that the previous league winners have a new challenge by August. Regardess of who they buy.

At United he gets to play for a much much bigger football club and under Jose. He might want that too.

The Pep vs Money theory is a little pathetic. Glad Gary came out mocking it as it deserved.

We're shit club mate. One season of Pep and people think we're worthless and have developed an inferiority complex. Madness.

True, and more importantly, there is more money at united, now or in the summer. He's 29 with a large family to take care of

Only problem is, I'd say City are at least a few windows ahead of us in terms of squad development, depth and strength.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he's said exactly that. If you're talking to the press and they say, "Would you like to play for Guardiola?" The only practical response is to say something about great managers and how "if the opportunity came up," you'd love to.

Posted this in the Rio thread but fits in here too.

Last season City were nowhere. Things change very quickly in football, he should know that. He should remember that after Chelsea won their second title under Mourinho people were asking how on earth they could be stopped. 6 months later Mourinho was gone, 12 months later United were champions again. United is a good a bet as any for Sanchez and if he earns more money, gets to take up an iconic shirt and play for one of football's greatest clubs then why wouldn't he want to sign?
