"Can Manchester United score? They always score"
Lol, he's my best friend, and tbh I'd resigned myself to them winning it so just went with the flow. Gave as good as I got and when Demba tucked it away I just hoovered up those tears
Brave man.

Best friend or not I was ignoring every Liverpool fan in site.

'Steve Gerrard, Steve Gerrard, he gave it to Demba Ba'. What a song.

You couldn't write a better thriller as a United fan especially after the season we were having. For Liverpool to come that close, after 24 years was just majestic.

I think it helped that I was distracted with my Masters that season, so I never really got fully invested... Unlike the LVG years. The less said of which, the better! Can't believe I was one of his loyalists, right up to the very end.

The Cartman licking the tears meme was made for that Liverpool season though, loved every second of the post-Chelsea malaise they were in that season. It almost made us being shit somehow worth it

Spent some time reading the previous pages of this thread. Some people are right, it's a game where there's one winner and one loser, it didn't have to be a bottle job. Some other are also right, we still have to beat Sevilla.

I'll have a serious talk with myself once I finish laughing:lol:

Mate this idea that only winners are always remembered is bollocks. In my lifetime Spurs have won a UEFA Cup, a few FA Cups and League Cups yet they're talked about as a nothing club with no history on here. I saw Ipswich under the great Bobby Robson win the UEFA Cup and more significantly Aston Villa winning the European Cup. No one talks about them winning what was a very prestigious competition. That Villa side is practically unheralded despite being the Kings of Europe. This is not ancient history. This was the 1980s.
Forest back to back EC winners too

I am absolutely disgusted by the posts here since the game ended. You are a god damn disgrace to the forum. Grow up and learn to see football further from some "Old" beef. Spurs are very exciting team to watch and it's very unfair that they were knocked out by the experienced side, they didn't bottle anything.. They outplayed Juventus in both games, just were very unfortunate for a short time.
You are so right, and good of you to post your mature thoughts. Of course they didn’t bottle anything. Such an exciting team, and Juve so boring. If not for the goals that Juventus scored, Tottenham would have beat them. They ought not to count, as they were just a few minutes apart, and rest of the game was dominated by Spurs.

Of course, there are no trophies for exciting football.

And they battered us a few weeks ago.
Yeah we '''battered" then at OT this season too

Don't think we can laugh much.

They play much much better football than us and we probably would've done worse than them against Juve.

Not trying to be negative but let's call a spade a spade, they play better football than us.
We are struggling against the mighty Seville after splashing near a billion pounds. They spend almost nothing and play better than us. We can't laugh.
 only the Caf.

Don't you dare laugh at a rival team. feck. Me.

There's a lot of United fans on here taking Spurs loss very personally
It's borderline weird.

Because of the Gomes red card.
When they faced each other 11 vs 11 you saw the out come
?? Inter were 1-0 up then got a penalty and red card for 2-0 in the first 15 minutes. They demolished spurs and the red card was a direct consequence of their early domination

What happened in the second leg is a whole other thing.

I don't know why people remember Spurs-Inter so much. It was a group stage match with a completely unmotivated Inter side. I remember Coutinho did well in the first game. Also, the amount of English pundits who have to mention that irrelevant game so many times when Maicon is brought up is annoying. Dude was clearly hung over or something, and that was the year he suddenly got old. He's one of the greats in the past decade.

Spurs is, at the end of the day, a limited team that can't win a big trophy. You can tell there is something missing, I'd say defensively, as they generally can't beat the top teams in PL. This has been a trend under Pochettino.

To everyone who laughed at Spurds I hope you are proud of yourself. Spurds deserved more respect and now look what you made happen.

What is the point of bumping it? So we laughed at Tottenham for their bottle job (losing from comfortable position). They can on their forum laugh at us now. It's their privilege. Doesn't change what happened to them. Or are you telling me we lost because we laughed at them?

You mean fans of teams not actually focused on in this thread? Ok
Yes. And Moyes fans as well:

"Moyes’ United outperforms Mourinho’s United in the Champions League. Moyes still United’s best CL manager since Ferguson."

Incredible that four years later he can still dine out on having lead against Bayern for a few minutes

Yeah, kinda like how all the United fans laughed out loud in the thread focused on spurs a week ago.

We are next. So only two PL teams left after today in CL.

Losing against Juventus is one thing, but against Sevilla without putting up any desire and fight..

I’d say it’s Wengeresque from Mourinho :wenger:

Spurs outplay Juventus over two legs but make a couple of defensive mistakes and get punished for it and it's called a bottle job. What a joke.

At least Spurs actually played, performed against and beat some truly elite sides in the CL this season. When Spurs beat Madrid people said Madrid were past it, the same Madrid who thrashed everyones favourites PSG and are now in the last 8.

I've said it before, United and Liverpool haven't played a single top side in the CL this season and as soon as they do they will lose. United have now exited before they even played a top side.

Liverpool are next, they will be thumped against a proper elite side.

Spurs have have their head held high as they actually took the game to the elite sides and showed they belong to be there.

Never understood the laughing. They lost to Juve, no shame, they gave it their best. Bottled it in some sense, yes, but Higuain and Dybala are world class and their defensive organisation saved them after the lead.

We would have lost against Juve in a more embarrassing fashion anyway. They would have picked Sevilla apart. We didn't even try

True, Spurs did well. I believe they miss a couple of quality players in the defensive department. Bang average British players like
Davies and Trippier are simply not good enough for these high levels.

Kane dominated Chiellini anyways, that wasn't the problem. Spurs lost a lot when Chiellini clattered Dele out of the game, probably the turning point in the match (he played on for 15 minutes or so but was clearly useless).
dominated whom? I think you must have seen a different game mate. Kane is a great player and he certainly had a few good plays as it is normal, but he did not dominate anybody and after the first 10 minutes he was never effective except on the offside post allowed by the Polish clowns who were refereeing (making incredible mistake in both directions, but mostly against juve).

I think on balance Spurs played two good games but they were very naive tactically and they were luckily for us made pay for it. I believe that the winning mentality is also a question of experience and if they keep the team together and get some decent CB they will definitely be in a position to win. Before the game I quite liked Pochettino, after the game I am not sure any more he is the right guy to lead them to the next level, his tactical mistakes when it mattered and most of all his ridiculous comments of Juve management influencing the referees (after that game no less) do not make me think of somebody with a winning mentality

I'd agree with some of that. I think in general Spurs played better in the two legs but you were by far more clinical and that's ultimately the difference between a decent team and a top team like yourselves. I classify you as the 4th best club in Europe right now so losing to you is no embarrassment. As for Pochettino, I just think he's naive and a bit inexperienced in these tough games. He's improving in the PL in these tough games but he's still under performing like his players when it really matters.

I was at the game and the referee changed after the half time. In the first half he was very fair, second half he gave everything to Juventus and I actually noticed this before Poch then came out to say that Juventus had hassled the ref at half time. Whatever Juventus did, it worked.

That's why a 2 yard Kane was not flagged offside and Tottenham almost scored twice from it to equalise

That literally could have been enough to win the game in extra time for Tottenham
