It's funny, but I think those mocking Spurs for losing should wait until we secure our spot in the quarter finals. We could just as easily 'bottle it" against Seville but people are treating it as a formality or something.
Will we be allowed to laugh if we go through?

United fans on United forum telling people they can't laugh at Spurs.

What times eh.

@Ronaldo's Mum Eh? , go home you're drunk.

Yes. Why not? They were marginally off beating the finalists of last season and convincingly performed in one leg against the Champions whilst outplaying said Champions on the reverse fixture.
Urghh get a grip will you?! Deportivo La Coruna won La Liga and progressed further than Spurs in early 00's none called them european elite.

At the time I thought it was weird that people were rooting for City to win a title.
so you wanted liverpool to win it instead? Jebus. :houllier:

I'm not saying don't laugh at them, just saying we can just as easily crash out of the CL so it could come back to bite some posters.

Doesn't matter. It's like asking not to laugh at any rivals when they lose just because we might also lose games.

It’ll still be funny even if we go out. It’ll just mean their fans can laugh at us too.

I can live with that.

I am absolutely disgusted by the posts here since the game ended. You are a god damn disgrace to the forum. Grow up and learn to see football further from some "Old" beef. Spurs are very exciting team to watch and it's very unfair that they were knocked out by the experienced side, they didn't bottle anything.. They outplayed Juventus in both games, just were very unfortunate for a short time.

What's funnier is some people thinking earlier we would be lucky if we drew Juventus in the QF, assuming we go through.

On current form, especially with Pogba performing the way he is now, Juve would destroy us. And our attack which blows hot and cold would have one hell of a time trying to score against them.

Better hope for drawing the Italian Spurs (Roma) if they make it through.

I don't get this trend on here to categorize everything as 'bottling'.

Two high-quality teams played a game of football: one won, the other lost. Not every defeat in football is a bottlejob.
I agree in general but....Spurs!

I'd still be optimistic of qualifying if we did draw them though. Simply because I prefer not to be negative when we actually play those teams.

And under Jose, we won't bottle positions of strength like Spurs if we do get there.

And if we crash out we'll deserve to be laughed at. Who cares. Enjoy the funny moments and don't worry about what might happen to us in the future.

Actually in that campaign everyone thought they belonged to be mixing it up with the European elite.

I think neutral praise is something certain caf posters seem borderline offensive. Saying Spurs deserve to be mixing it up with the best after some brilliant performances this campaign has hit some nerves. Maybe you need to get a grip

If we lose I wouldn't give a damn if opposition supporters laughed at us. That's part of supporting a club. You give and you take.

They can mix it up, and still fall short when it matters. As we've seen this season... and previous seasons... and all of their modern history. I'll wait until they actually win something to praise them as "up with the best". Rather than just a team with a nice coat of paint failing when it matters, as usual.

Let's not forget Spurs went further, and played "better" a few years ago under Redknapp and never kicked on.

They are a better Southampton and will play well until the manager goes to a big club or their players move on for more money.

Yeah, let's stop laughing at rival teams. Even if we crash out with a 5-0 loss, Spurs going out the way they did yesterday will remain funny.

Thing is what a lot of you don't see in your arrogance is that. Sprus didn't bottle anything. There were no comical defensive mistakes or nervous play or whatever you can "Laugh" about. They played their gameplay and continued to press Juventus in tight situations. Juventus had some luck that Spurs weren't lethal at some Son's finishing. And somehow they managed to just barely get in front of a shot or pass, not by their extreme defensive work, but just were fortunate.

I have no idea who is Glaston? Or what it is.

I don't think it was a bottle job per se. But Pocchetino definitely got his second half tactics wrong.

I love all the talk about Juve's 'luck' almost if they weren't screwd by Marciniak about 15 minutes in when they should've had a penalty.

I don't get this Spurs love-in, it's a myth to be honest. I mean did they really play that well last night, really??

Let's not forget the fact Juve should have had a penalty in the first half. They played against a team in Juve that in the 2nd half tactically out-thought Spurs and had the experience to see them through. Spurs huffed and puffed and didn't seem to have a proper plan other than try to pepper Juve's goal, when they went ahead they couldn't change their game to frustrate Juve and while Juve could still see opportunities available to get at their back line, they took them.

Spurs - the Newcastle of the South!

Exactly. I guess Juve was also lucky that Kane hit the post instead of scoring from a clear offside later in the game.

Yes definitely a penalty. Spurs were the ones who got lucky there.

Juve didn't play particularly well, but experience told in the end. I don't think it was "bottle job" by Spurs - Juve and Allegri have both been here before and know exactly what they need to be doing. Chiellini was superb.

Overall, it was generally pretty tight across the two legs, and by no means a "travesty" that Spurs didn't progress here.

They fall short where it matters? They didn't fall short in either game versus Real or in the first leg against Juve or against Dortmund (who are still a good team).

Ultimatelt they fell short yesterday but let's not compare this spurs outfit to the one under Harry Redknapp and kid ourselves that they're just the same.

Nah. Football and life would be so boring if most people had that mindset. You give some, you get some.

They were taught a lesson in knock out football. Their collective lack of experience caused them to fall into a false sense of security. They then took too long to react to a staggered tactical change by Allegri and then when Allegri went defensive and compact they didnt exploit the wide areas. We were in the same boat for most of the 90's
