Does anyone know how much United paid for him so far?

United was supposed to be paying him 50 million pounds with add-ons. I know United paid Monaco 10 million around last year, and judging from his performances so far, United won't be paying Monaco anything close to 50 million in the near future.
€60M euros.

He declared himself injured on the morning of the game he was due to play up front with Rashford. the Friday thing is Jose covering for the player. He’s going to Juve in the summer, Jose hates him apparently.

I can’t name the source (it’s one of the players, who I know via a close friend of his) and I don’t care whether anybody believes me.
Yeah, because Jose would really cover for Martial if he hated him. /s if it wasn't obvious

Don't you know Jose has never ever thrown his players to the wolves and has always kept them protected?

Martial is the player we desperately need to keep. But equally he is a player who should be desperate to leave. The guy can get the same if not more gametime at barca, real , Bayern etc.
Why?

He wouldn't get in any of the teams you've mentioned. They have far better players than we do in the positions he plays in.

Kind of resigned to losing him, surely if Fred comes in it's the end for Martial?

Why? They don't play the same position. Losing Martial wouldn't be ideal but as long as we don't sell him to an English club I'd be fine with selling him.

Honestly don't think Jose would pull punches if he was unhappy with him because he's proven already he doesn't mind hanging players out to dry.

We must keep him. He has to stay. Unfortunately it seems that Sanchez and Lukaku will not be dislodged from their positions even though Martial has the bigger potential. Martial has to play games whether it's here or somewhere else. If he does leave it has to be on loan at least. The club must keep control of Martial.

Somewhat tangential to our current issues of keeping him, but why is it some players just can't switch sides of the pitch? I can't recall him ever playing on the right side for us, where we
need some pace and guile. He's right footed, is it too much to ask for him to give it a go? Inverted wingers aren't always necessary, surely?

Loaning him out just further runs down his contract.

This guy is a diamond. Will be a great loss if he goes.

Team should be set up to give him freedom in the top 3rd of the pitch.

Could Payet's injury possibly mean that he can be in the World Cup squad?

Payet wasn't going to be in the world cup squad anyway. Martial still has: Coman, Dembele, Giroud, Griezmann, Lacazette, Mbappe and Fekir/Thauvin ahead of him in the pecking order.
Oh alright that's disappointing. I haven't seen much of Thauvin but he looked pretty average yesterday. I feel Martial can offer a lot more than him but it was just one match so I'm being too harsh on him.

I don't see why is a 'must'. He is far from the greatest talent I have seen but I would prefer we keep him. That said Its not the end of the world. We have had far better players leave, brought up better young talents and could not doubt find better young talents. That said, those young talents may not develop under Jose so it may be best to move him on if Jose is here for the long term. If Martial was Mbappe, I would cry at this situation, but his talent/development does not justify the levels of lamenting. again I would rather we keep him though

Surely Martial will be at the WC? I haven’t even contemplated him not being selected? I’m sure if he’s not selected he will blame it on his opportunities at United and start to look elsewhere.

You have to consider the options France have these days Giroud, Lacazette, Griezmann, Mbappe, Coman, Dembele all of them are ahead of Martial

I would have taken him, but France has a plethora of options in the attacking areas.
Shame really I expect he would have targeted a berth here having been a sub last time out.

If he doesn't get picked in the squad then that will be the final nail in the coffin, he'll be gone faster than you can say "Wazoo".

Martial decided his future months ago, upcoming French call up wont affect that much. If the club couldnt give him playing time (and the fact is Martial still has almost no chance since then), he would leave for sure.

Btw Deschamps has never fancied him at all. Even with his amazing form in 2015-16 season, Martial wasnt Deschamps's first choice in Euro 2016

I dont want him to leave BUT he hasn’t taken his chances. It’s not Mourinhos fault or Deschamps, its Tonys and its a shame.

I don't think him not being called up will impact his decision to leave the club.
Martial playing more at United would obviously have helped his NT claim but he lost the spot off his latest friendly performance against Russia and the lack of commitment he's shown when wearing the NT shirt.
I still firmly believe he deserved to be in the squad because he's still having a better season than Lemar and is the more talented of the 2, still It's neither outrageous nor a big deal that he isn't in the end.

I wish he would stay but right now for both his personal development and United's future I think It's better if he goes, Jose and him it just cannot work, Jose is not going to leave the club anytime soon so if someone has to go It's Martial.

Of course it will. Players are deluded, even if in that game vs Russia his performance, he could still blame his club form for affecting his form. Players aren't that clever, he'll just simply go by the fact that since Sanchez has arrived, he's played less and less for Man United which ultimately led him to him missing out on the WC. Martial was already on a knife's edge with Deschamps, losing his place at United made the decision easy

Sanchez cost him his WC place. Its as simple as that. Things were going very well until he came. He wasn't going WC and on top of that hasn't improved upon what Martial was doing before. It's a disaster situation.

The last part of what you said is most interesting. For the ones out there that say Sanchez isn the top player and deserves to be ahead. Martial has been better for us this season IMO.

I do hope Sanchez finds form next season but so far its not been a good move. Actually it seemed to really unsettle the side

3 goals in 18 appearances I think it is for Sanchez. Martial had 11 already by January and possibly may have got around 20 if he had continued playing. There's no comparison between the two this season. Martial has been much better even when you factor in Sanchez's performances for Arsenal. Even if Sanchez had matched what Martial done in the 1st half of the season it still wouldn't have made any sense because we already had a player who was playing well on the left and in January was in his best form. I was one of those who thought Sanchez would've gone on the right and we'd play a front 3 of Martial - Lukaku - Sanchez but unfortunately it never happened. If it was to play on the left then we shouldn't have signed him at all. Why didn't we buy someone like Mahrez instead because he's an actual RW and keep Martial and Rashford rotating on the left like they were the whole season? Very poor management by Mourinho and now we are at risk of losing Martial to add salt to the wounds.

It’s all playing out exactly as I thought once Sanchez came in. The only surprising thing now would be if he stays. I don’t know how much United will get for him but he could fund some solid upgrades.

This is the truth. As @Cassidy aldo pointed out, it seemed to leave the entire squad with an uneasy feeling, as if even producing doesn’t seem to be enough of Jose simply doesn‘t like you.

One thing I've never understood about Martial, perhaps someone could shed light on it: why does he wear short sleeves and gloves even sometimes when it's hot? These are the important questions.

He’s a part time hand model. He’s got to protect the goods.

But seriously I have no idea, it bugs me as well, just can’t understand the thinking behind that.
