But he is there. In attack. Crossing, passing, scoring. I can't remember when shaw put a cross last time
To be fair Shaw did score in the first game of the season, albeit his first Premier League goal.

Should’ve wrapped his foot around it and booted it clear! It wasn’t exactly zipping towards him. Rubbish defending.
yeah because he had time for that ffs. He literally was at full stretch trying to get that and it was coming through traffic.

Given the position of the ball, if Schar took out Alonso than it's a penalty. It's not even debatable, defender has to won the ball, meaning dispossess the striker, and Alonso fell on the ball. Clearly didn't lose possession
It doesn’t matter if Alonso fell over following the tackle because Schar won the ball first. You don’t have to clearly dispossess the attacker for it to be a clean tackle.

Whose getting relegated this season? Way too many boring shithouse teams in the league this season - Newcastle, West Ham, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Southampton, Brighton, Burnley.

As the commentator said he panicked. Could’ve at least got some sort of connection rather than flailing his limp foot at it.

Nah, in one motion he played the ball followed by flooring Alonso. After playing the ball there’s nothing he could’ve done to avoid downing Alonso, therefore I’d say it’s not a pen.

Look up the laws of the game. Might be you're right but i've heard it explained several times by pundits and even a former ref and the rule says you have to win the ball aka take away from the attacker's availability. If you don't and you take him out it's a foul.

Chelsea to win the league. As is usual with a new manager on board.

This is my understanding of the rule too, it's a fair challenge. Whether Alonso or another player then gets tripped by a player on the floor isn't relevant.

Or at least i think it isn't...

Didn't know that. What's the system on offer? Same as WC?
The vote was before the WC and based off the FA Cup disasters from last season so its understandable that the majority were against it in fairness.

I don't know how Newcastle can survive this season. They do look very weak in every part of the field. Rafa has to pull out a miracle.

Indeed. It would've ruled out their goal and we'd have won 2-0.
This, that elbow, ffs. Refereeing in the premier league is the worst in Europe, yet no var... Newcastle away a tough one for us usually, delighted with 3 wins from those fixtures, we've been lucky at times. Showed character and hunger for the points today.

Others teams are even worse... that is the only way really. So many poor sides in the bottom 14, will need 100 points for the title and 80 odd for top 4 this season imo.
