69 for 4. New Zealand don't want to win this.

I have no idea what that means, but if it refers to bottling it against the Aussies - you are correct.
screwing the pooch = messing up. Countless times during my life I've listened to the likes of Johnson and Agnew big up England's chances only for it to (almost) inevitably blow up in spectacular fashion at an important moment. That means I have this Pavlovian trepidation every time someone says we'll win something.

New Zealand have to try and minimise NRR damage now. Forget the win

How are NZ in the semis, whoever gets them will have a free pass into the final.

NZ were lucky to have the India game abandoned. Seems that one point will be what takes them into the semis.

NZ will play for NRR now. Said from start that they have been lucky this tournament. That India washout has turned out to be huge for them. Oz pretty much get a walkover to the final now.

How badly do NZ have to lose from there for Pakistan to even have a chance?

It's just a shame a world cup of this format is hosted during these months in England. If you can't have reserve rain days just let India or Australia host it.

NZ being in the semis is a joke theyd have no doubt crumbled to India.

Considering we're hosting the tournament I've not spoken / communicated online much with people about the cricket who were not already cricket fans before the competition. Isn't the bigger goal of hosting a tournament being opening up the game to more people? Instead the games are on pay tv and highlights show at 11pm

I've got to say i'm not a massive fan of playing a couple of spinners and allowing these guys to get comfortable.

We had one week of bad weather in a 6 week tournament. Get over it :)
1 week of no results in a 6 week tournament. Sure doesnt questions the integrity of it.

Could you imagine fifa world cup games getting rained out. Brazil and lithuania splitting points  with the justification given oh well you never know who would have won.

Its shit and it wasnt unpredictable whether from previous forecasts I've seen. No excuse for no reserve days.

Luckily a deserving team like India or Aus will still win but for NZ to be in the semis is a joke.

Unless of course England further flatten these pitches to get their side through to the final

You sound a bit bitter.

This isn't the first time there has been games abandoned in a World Cup.

I love cricket I love the world cup and I can't stand games being no results in the one tournament that happens once every 4 years. Bitter is just scratching the surface.

I also think its damaging to the game to see another borefest Aus NZ semi with aus cruising through.

Well then surely you'd prefer an England India semi final than a Pakistan India one?

Compare the amount of games abandoned and their impact vs other cups. This time has been more than previous x world cups combined.
Overall the impact of the abandoned games in this tournament has been minimal as well. NZ got lucky but it's not an absolute travesty as it would have been if say Sri Lanka had made the semis.

Despite NZ being 4 down here, I think they'll give England a go here.

England India are two well deserving teams. That said India would have finished first had the NZ game gone through and now theres a risk they may get out in the semis. Theres just too much left on conditions.

Nz doesnt deserve to be in the semis

Sri Lanka actually beat England. I cant see NZ beating any top side.

We are losing out due to no reserve games, I wouldn't say that is minimal. If the same had happened to England I would love to see the same posters going get over it.

From a financial POV a India Pakistan semi is miles bigger than India England.

The England hype machine is inflating again. Would be fun to see India bat first in the semis and watch Morgan be confused "but I flattened the pitch!"
