He'll be world class goalscorer when he's 40 guys. We just need to give him another 16 years to fully develop himself

I didn't view last nights game, nor have I watched the highlights. So did Martial and Rashford occupy the same spot on occasions on the left hand side again (with no one in the centre) ?
Its been a annoying feature of the two players preference in recent times.

It was a trap for the fan boys:lol:
Make it big and deep. I don’t want to read their blind drivel anymore

I’m so bored of watching our attacking players now. Awful. Every now and then one of them will produce a good display but every now and then won’t win us a title.

He's been shit all season. No9 my arse.
I've always believed he wasn't a natural 9 but I have always disagreed with a poster about it, I just don't remember who. He can play in some moments like a striker (back to the goal and bring others into play) but when it comes to having that decisive run or that explosive attacking action inside the box, he doesn't feel like a natural one to me.

A game where we pretty much saw all the sides of Martial. he really went through the full Martial playbook of personalities.

Moments of brilliance mixed in with moments of turd. Moments of intensity and effort followed by sitting about. I know he wants the ball to feet and genuinely as a team we suck getting the ball forward and even when we do it’s like 10 seconds after the forward pulled in to space. However you see what Cavani just running around handeling people and making runs brought to it. I’ll happily hold my hands up and say I’m a Martial FC but he can’t keep putting in helter skelter performances like that and not expect to be replaced with Cavani.

I’d either play Cavani and Martial as a 2 or just play all 3 of them and put Martial and Rashford either side of Cavani.

Got to say think it was like the 80th minute Martial pulled wide to get a ball from Matic, easy pass, easy ball and Matic doesn’t pass. Instead just keeps running closer and closer to Martial until he has closed off the space then gave him the ball in an impossible situation. This happens way too often in games and is another reason we struggle to get our forwards in good spaces.

Imo Ole should drop him next match and play Cavani. Then we'll see how he'd react to that. I still have hope in him but his recent form simply doesn't deserve a starting slot.
You've changed your tune about Martial :)

But in all seriousness I agree, he's just not producing and needs dropping. At the very least, needs shifting to the left with Cavani down the middle and rashford on the right, Ole needs to mix it up a bit!

No I haven't.

Back then I agreed that his form was bad but I still had hope for him. Now it's the same.

P/s: for me it seems it's you who changed your tune. You want him to play as LW now but back then you wanted to get rid of him and buy a new #9.

I wouldn't worry about Martial, he's just a slow starter like Smokin' Joe Frazier. He'll bag in a few goals soon enough.

Jesus mate, calm down.

Well we're kind of stuck with him for now arent we until the transfer window opens. The least we can do is move him off the number 9 position where he was been dagshite this season and try him on the left, I don't know maybe he'll do something meaningful there

Did I sound like I was angry?

You repeatedly quoted me and brought this up anytime Martial had a bad game after me criticizing you for wanting to get rid of our POTY last season after 5,6 matches into this season. It's you who should calm down here I think.

Hes a passenger.
A few goals eases the focus but in general he's a passenger and we'll never be a serious threat in any competition with him in the first 11.

He can be class but he pissed me off yesterday at times (not quite as much as Matic and Mata mind). The first half chance was easier to score to than miss, commentators acting like it was a fantastic save but the stop was subpar and straight toward the keeper. Movement was fine in patches and I can appreciate he was the only one running at defenders at times but he did not play well.

He'll have better days but yesterday was awful for a big team number 10

For feck's sake.
By our recent standards he was. Hence he won our players POTY I think. Anyhoo, it doesn't matter. He hasn't shown up this season which is a big problem and he needs to turn his form around quickly.

I wouldn't say that. I think he was more or less in the right position. The concern with him is his movement, or rather the lack of it. He's clearly a player who comes to life more with the ball at his feet. He's also not as clinical as we'd like him to be for a number 9. I felt he worked on that aspect a bit more towards the middle of last season, but he's forgotten it all now and is back to early season Martial again.

His sulking when brought off is irritating as feck. He was lucky he wasn’t hauled off at half time. Needs a massive kick up the arse.

Just a mediocre inconsistent player. This really should be his last season at the club, last season as a starter for sure. We should be looking to sell. Same old inconsistent Martial hes always been and Mourinho was right about him.

Keep him on the left please. It's the position that masks most of his problems imo. Allows him more opportunities to have a run against a defender and uses his good dribbling abilities.

He'll never be a top goal scorer to play as number 9 but he'll be more useful for us on the left long term.

Showed few good skills but zero in the end product today, good skills but no purpose means useless. It’s like Pepe in arsenal. Need some slap in the face to wake him up and do better.

Why would he have been hauled off at half time. Looked good in the first time, and facing up to the opposition is where he’s strongest.

didn’t play well in the second half, but many didn’t. Natural for the team to take their foot off the pedal.

He's on a bad run, poor tonight. Hopefully he turns it around in the next few games, needs to be involved in the game more. Martial FC will have some excuse for him naturally, let's hope he gets a goal and kicks on in this busy period.

Martial's still not there. No idea what it is that's weighing him down but he's making bad decisions, doing bad things and making himself less effective as a result.

Played well in the first half but fell away with the rest of the players after the subs.
Hoe many fouls did he get when holding the ball up and going on the half turn? It was a joke in the end up

He seems free on the left and has some nice silky moves but the end product is very little. This season is should be make or break for him but I haven't lost faith in him yet

I know this is a harsh thing to criticize him for but I feel like he looks for the foul too much. He has lovely feet to shift out of pressure and gets hacked a lot, but I just feel sometimes he could try a bit harder to poke the ball towards a teammate when getting kicked and we would have so many men forward on the break.

Weird detail to criticize I know, but just annoying for me personally.

At times grandpa Cavani pressed more than him.
All the time.

it’s mad you see with Cavani what a proper strikers movement can offer. You don’t always have to be on for the dribble or a cute 1-2. Movement and aggression is such a huge part of the position. Martial is rarely there asking questions of the centre backside providing an outlet. He comes out too far. He needs a goal so badly

He had his moments in the 1st half ie running from the left channel but as the game wore on he tried too many fancy flicks and touches, passing was becoming erratic and then he became practically non existent.

Really good first half, rest mode 2nd. Not sure he’ll ever have the burning desire to destroy teams that his ability deserves unfortunately.

I’ve grown to dislike him, Ole should not be starting him or he will cost him his job along with few others.

First half was very good, second half he was over complicating things. I like him playing off of a main striker though, same with Rashford. Let the 2 roam and swap sides behind Cavani and that's our best front 3 for now.

What long term? We should be looking to sell him in the summer.

He doesnt warrant starting over Mason or Cavani.
He had his chances to play himself in the form, it isnt really happening, he is being inconsistent as hes always been. Give Mason the same amount of playing time to play himself in the form.

Dribbles a lot but no end product .

He needed that peno more than Rashford did although he was given one earlier in the season. What A nice guy Bruno is

Ive said that to my son more than once. He hangs on when a quick pass is the right option, tries his pirouette then drops to the floor. He needs benching and told he needs to up his game when he gets chances. I would try him the last 20 mins in the next 3-4 games. Give Greenwood his spot. Start Cavani Greenwood Rashford up top for next 3-4 games see how or if they gel. Cant do any worse.

That’s a very low set bar.
