Looked to me like the Ferrari was definitely the fastest car but Sainz is just not on Max's level. Would have been a different story had it been Leclerc in that position.

Not sure why comms is bigging up the Mercedes too much, it was still half a second a lap off at a decent track for them. They need a giant leap forward to even have a sniff.

Nah I don’t think so.

Agreed that Leclerc would have pushed Max more, maybe even pull an overtake but RB were the faster car and have been most of the season so far.

I think its justified , in FP they were dreadful and to be that close was a decent turnaround.
I do agree more is needed, to have a sniff, and if Leclerc had not started at the back and Perez with problems, they would have been 5th and 6th , about where the car really is.

Question, shouldnt of ferrari of put sainz on mediums, during the saftey car. 15 racing laps on mediums should have been possible and that should have been enough in terms of deltas between hards and mediums to get pass max.

Solid win for Max, he's so consistent. Sainz just not on that level, but still a decent race for him.

Ferrari looked to have the fastest car today, Leclerc would've capitalized if he was in Sainz position

Max is getting better though, 10/10 on defence today. His race-craft is unreal

The comms was saying they are closer, they aren’t really. Compared to Friday yes but on the face of the season that’s about the same as it was, at a track Lewis can monster at.

Rubbish. The Ferrari was faster because he had 3 DRS zones. The fact Max took boatloads of time away from Sainz in non-DRS sections shows this. Of course how much that is Max vs the car is debatable and certainly Max is a huge factor compared to Sainz but I wonder how you can sensibly support what you said.

To be fair Hamilton was within 2.1 seconds after 6 laps of the restart. He dropped off from that in the last few but it was definitely an improvement. Hamilton seemed happy as well, I guess they're just pleased it was a step forward.

One thing I have noticed, drivers aren't sweaty and tired after the races like they used to be before, which is good to see for them I guess.

Yes. I said this. And sure they might have gone off. But he was never gonna finish behind Hamilton so it absolutely was the rush they should have taken.

Cracking drive by Max to hold on and earn that win. Beat driver all weekend. Saftey cars did not go his way at all.

Surprised to see Sainz so quick. Fair play to him.

Red Bull reliability a massive problem.

Ferrari and Red Bull race pace was very very close. Potentially Ferrari actually the faster car.

Also how can they never get the cool down room audio right.

You are quite right.
Big step forward by Mercedes. But it is close to half of the season already and so it should be for a team like that.

red bulls straight line speed combined with max’s talent is just too much.

Sainz has his chance on the 2nd to last lap but ended up running wide at the last corner and got an awful exit. I think if that’s Leclerc in that position he wins IMO

sainz doesn’t have the killer instinct to go toe to toe with the best, looked too happy to be second there.

Silverstone should be exciting, need to see a classic Lec-Max battle. And, thankfully for Max, Lewis isn't fast enough to throw him into the wall this time :D

Relaibility looks a big concern still. 4 Red bull reliability DNFs now.

Ferrari and Red Bull need to look at Merc in terms of Relaibility. They often go seasons between reliability DNFs. It's crazy how they do that and no one can do similar consistently.

I cant really argue with any of this.
I saw Lewis pushing the car, more than I have done in any race so far this season, looked to have confidence in it, despite him asking his engineer if he was really quick.
Maybe not closer, but in this race they got the car working and working well.
Silverstone in 2 weeks, lets see what upgrade they bring.
They are still behind Red Bull and Ferrari.

It’s amazing due to DNFs and other stuff we have hardly really seen Max and Le Clerc go at it. Such a shame. I think Max has the edge, as does the RB on race pace, but they’re close enough in both of those facets to make each race interesting if both teams can sort out their overall reliability.

And they will be for the rest of the season. They can catch up but they will always be slower this year. It’s just too steep a gap.

Sainz just isn’t good enough for Leclerc to win the Champ. These are the types of days when the No. 2 driver earns their wage by getting one over for their No. 1. Verstappen was great but I feel like if it was Leclerc behind him it would be a different story at the end of the race.

I also just don’t think he has quite the bottle and consistency and pace overall. Second to last lap he was 0.5 seconds behind at the hairpin. That was his chance. And he locked it up. Still might not have gotten past but the fact he locked up says a lot about how he handles the most critical moments.

I mean you say that but Checo was miles off last year as well. And his qualifying was way worse than Sainz.

It was an easy win for him , never in trouble, Seinz was never catching him , only got close due to DRS, yes it was a decent driver, but better than Leclerc from back of the grid to 5th, not for me.
latifi for me. managed to go 70 laps without binning it. mega drive by his standards.

True, but he’s shown he has it in him to win races or hold off people (Hamilton last year), winning this year etc.

I’d be surprised if Sainz wins a race, he just doesn’t seem to have that last 5%/cutting edge that the better drivers do.
