Tory MP talking shite again.

I have no idea what point he's even trying to haphazardly make here.

"Swimming in shit has always been a thing but of course it's bad" It's like a shit version of gaslighting? I have no clue what he's saying.

Jesus, if we don't get Labour in this time round this country is utterly, utterly boned.
We're well beyond that. Both Labour and Conservatives have pivoted right with their leadership and when Labour inevitably wins the next election, Sunak will be gone and Braverman and Badenoch will be favourites to replace him. Expect 5 years of debate around culture wars, immigration and extreme nationalism. We're just getting started. The fantasy that Starmer will revert back to his original leadership pledges once in power is just that, a fantasy. He'll be thinking about the next election the moment he gets into number 10 and it'll be a more unedifying campaign than anything we've seen so far.

I think he was going for the "it's a snowflake health safety gone mad" issue - with a side order of, "it never did me any harm," argument. Then he spotted that it really didn't sound that great, even by their standards.

So he switched to a, "what the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over," stance. I'm pretty sure that it's all the EU's fault for telling the water companies to monitor and report sewage contamination of bathing and drinking water. One of those petty regulations that Brexit was supposed to free us from, like not putting arsenic in baby food :smirk:

I remember this being a thing in the early 90s when we were kids. You wouldn't go swimming in a lot of places around Blackpool, but until recently, it hadn't been like that for a couple of decades. I'm sure Damian Green can remember strikes in the 70s and 80s, but just because there are strikes now, it doesn't mean we haven't had times of relative calm in between. It's an idiot argument from someone who knows better.

It'll be in the Daily Mail tomorrow: "Remember the days when we used to have so much fun swimming in shit."

And the great unwashed brainwashed will be parrotting the same Daily Mail line this weekend, and adding, "but there were no foreigners then."

They increased their dividends by 1.4 billion just ten fecking days ago. It’s astounding
Honestly this country is so passive and we have a government that is in the pockets of these corporations. They’re going to keep fecking people over as long as people keep saying “well this annoys me a lot” before putting their hand in their pocket and voting Tory again.

A very close family member has just had their
Mortgage increased by over £500/month. And they are seriously struggling to keep their head above water.
And the majority of that is down to you and the imbecile Teresa May.
Do you even understand what that means.

They don't care. It's irrelevant to them because they operate in an entirely different World where needing money to survive is an alien concept.

They succeeded bud. They gave the banks more money, without anyone really noticing. It’s by design. They won’t apologise.

My mortgage increased by £700. Or… £1900 PER MONTH if I don’t fix for another 3 years.

It’s vandalism. Rape. Arson. They are complicit, not incompetent.

We have 2 kids and have had to balance the increase with all of the childcare costs. We had an initial mortgage we were looking at which would have been a smaller increase but it was pulled as soon as Truss and Kwasi made the budget announcement. I fecking see Truss going to the coronation and now to Taiwan and I want to tell to feck off and disappear.

You are quite right about that.
I am sick and fed up with how this country has changed for the worst over the last 13 years and certainly not for the better. During this time people have become progressively worse off while the gap between the rich few percent and the overwhelming majority has been growing out of all proportion.
And the government shows not the slightest inte

Not only are they pathetic bigots, but barely literate ones as well.

I am really sorry to hear that.
What makes no sense to me is that the BoE and government blame everything on COVID and the war in Ukraine for the cost of living crisis.
But are making most of us significantly worse off by putting up the cost of borrowing when we have almost nothing to do with those factors.
But are doing nothing at all to stop supermarkets putting their prices up, making inflation much worse.

And if you want proof of that... I was in the local supermarket and an assistant was changing the price of bread and cakes. The same bread and cakes that have been on the shelf for a day or so. The same bread and cakes that have already been baked and already transported.
Not new bread and cakes that were about to be produced.
Profiteering plain and simple.
