Very likely I'd say.Hopefully it happened so fast they didn't have time to contemplate their predicament, and they didn't suffer.

So did we get any decent hypothesis for what the banging sounds were or just 'lotta noises in the ocean'?
Assuming the report is true. I suspect the navy heard the implosion because they are listening all of the time and perhaps reported the time delay between the loss of contact, them starting to listen and the implosion was to avoid letting everyone know publicly that they detect when a fish farts anywhere in the Atlantic in real time.It appears it was "shortly after" so I don't think the gap was more than a couple of hours at most.
Quicker than they could blink.Hopefully it happened so fast they didn't have time to contemplate their predicament, and they didn't suffer.
Yeah I went to the museum. It's really interesting and they tell you exactly what the point of the whole thing is. It's a life lesson in how you should question authority and not just doing that you're told. It's really quite explicit.Never really understood the draw of ships that sank or sunken vessels. Sweden has one too, the Vasa, it’s the definition of over engineering, they made it the fastest, most powerful boat in the ocean but no one bothered to check if it could actually sail. Sure enough it sank about 15 minutes into its maiden voyage when it tried to turn while moving at speed.
They rescued it from the bottom of the ocean years ago and now it has its own museum, people come from all over to see it. Literally a failed project, total waste of time and money but people want to see it for some reason.
Probably whatever SOSUS or its successor systems are called now: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOSUSIt is not clear yet. There is a report that the vessel lost contact, the navy were informed and started to use some secret sub detecting system to listen and then they heard the implosion. There was no indication how long after the loss of contact the implosion was heard. It is eve quite possible that the loss of contact was caused by the implosion and the navy heard the implosion in real time but don't want to give away that they hear everything all the time. We may or may not find out in due course.
What a terrible take.Thats my personal take. No billionaire had become a billionaire being a good person or his/her family good people. Also to maintain it if you inherited you are not a good person either. feck them all and i wish them all dead. And at least, their government will collect some inheritance taxes

-owners dead and pssangers signed waivers for sure. Good luck with thatAt the end of this, I say a few things must or should happen in no particular order.
Seriously, the resting place for 1,500 people at such depth should never be a place for tourists nor private companies to go nearby.
- OceanGate deserves to be crushed by lawsuits and then go bankrupt.
- The site of the Titanic should be sealed off from any form of tourism or private exploration.
- Only government-sanctioned expeditions with the appropriate submersibles should be allowed in the future.
It was a Hollywood-esque story with a ticking time bomb, almost finger nail biting stuff. The Thai cave boys was exactly the same.I have a different question: Why was this story on the front page of bbc.com for three full days?
I
I find a terrible take the nondesire to go after all the bilionaires that are partially responsible for the worlds misery. What a terrible take.
RIP
I don’t know anything about the five dead to be able to judge if they are horrible people or not. But you are just acting like a massive judgemental arsehole.Thats my personal take. No billionaire had become a billionaire being a good person or his/her family good people. Also to maintain it if you inherited you are not a good person either. feck them all and i wish them all dead. And at least, their government will collect some inheritance taxes
That was a very interesting and informative twitter thread, thanks.Tweet

The Deep Sea Challenger vessel was built to go 30,000+ ft deep. the Titanic wreckage is at around 10,000 ft. They are nowhere the same thing.Tweet

Disgusting post.Thats my personal take. No billionaire had become a billionaire being a good person or his/her family good people. Also to maintain it if you inherited you are not a good person either. feck them all and i wish them all dead. And at least, their government will collect some inheritance taxes
Damn right they aren’t. One still exists. The Deep Sea Challenger vessel was built to go 30,000+ ft deep. the Titanic wreckage is at around 10,000 ft. They are nowhere the same thing.
Wow.Thats my personal take. No billionaire had become a billionaire being a good person or his/her family good people. Also to maintain it if you inherited you are not a good person either. feck them all and i wish them all dead. And at least, their government will collect some inheritance taxes
Once you get to a depth were you will be instantly crushed if you have a breach then it's pretty much the same thing in practice. Same dangers and issues. Just different levels of hull reinforcement etc required the deeper you go.The Deep Sea Challenger vessel was built to go 30,000+ ft deep. the Titanic wreckage is at around 10,000 ft. They are nowhere the same thing.
You are an absolute fecking ghoul.Thats my personal take. No billionaire had become a billionaire being a good person or his/her family good people. Also to maintain it if you inherited you are not a good person either. feck them all and i wish them all dead. And at least, their government will collect some inheritance taxes
Yep. If it's that easy to be billionaires and millionaires why didn't they become one? They should just go make their own money and stop hatin.there’s always one isn’t there
Perhaps, they should have been the same thing? The Deep Sea Challenger vessel was built to go 30,000+ ft deep. the Titanic wreckage is at around 10,000 ft. They are nowhere the same thing.
What was the motive ????? Was there anyway it was lack of oxygen?Yeah that’s a terrifying way to go, hopefully everything ends ok and everyone is fine.
Random but that time a guy made his own sub popped into my head, and he took a reporter in it with him. And then killed her while deep in the ocean, and lied badly about what happened.
The guy tortured and murdered her. What was the motive ????? Was there anyway it was lack of oxygen?
He’s certifiably insane. Pure psychopath. What was the motive ????? Was there anyway it was lack of oxygen?

Wow… what a story. I imagine it wasn’t even his first. I wanna watch the documentary nowHe’s certifiably insane. Pure psychopath.
It's a deflection ploy to help stop them mentioning the other implosion...the economy.I have a different question: Why was this story on the front page of bbc.com for three full days?
I mean, there have been mass shootings in the US and the story did not stay on the BBC front page for that long. There have been migrant ships that sunk in the Mediterranean and dozens of people died, and the story did not stay on the front page of BBC for 3 days. Why was this story more important? I am not insensitive, and I am really sorry for the five people that died and their relatives, but still ... it is surprising for me that this became such an important story for BBC.
Because it was an ongoing story and there was a chance they'd be rescued. The boys lost in the cave was all over the news for days too.I have a different question: Why was this story on the front page of bbc.com for three full days?

I don't get this line of thinking. Cemetries, graveyards, mausoleums etc pull millions of tourists every year. Should we not go to Highgate cemetry, or Arlington? should we not visit battle fields like the Somme or Gettysburg? What about Auschwitz or the Killing Fields?Seriously, the resting place for 1,500 people at such depth should never be a place for tourists nor private companies to go nearby.
I couldn't agree more, it was heartbreaking reading that. The young man wanted to please his dad because it was Fathers' Day, so he went along with him even though he didn't want to do it and was terrified. That's so sad.
I think his aunt should have kept that information to herself, as it's not going to make his mum feel any better about the whole situation.
There have been a lot of things with this situation which show how grotesque and how awful the media is. Also stretching how weird the public is.The young man wanted to please his dad because it was Fathers' Day, so he went along with him even though he didn't want to do it and was terrified. That's so sad.
