If you look at our squad compared to that of a City or a Liverpool you can easily see that we have a mix of 3-5 manager's players.
ETH signed 11 of the squad, promoted 3 and gave brand new contracts to another 3. So 'only' 17/25 of the squad are there directly via his input.

And this has only been pointed out in this thread about 30 times.

Since we all love Klopp and Arteta comparisons I wonder if, after only 2 seasons, they had the luxury of having signed or promoted 70% of their squads.

A shame to see it end this way. I do feel bad for him. And yes, I know he will be a very rich man, but still... It is unfortunate, but there's no other way.

We're about to contest a cup final and there is all this uncertainty and chatter about sacking the manager, it is not going to create good conditions for us.
Why?

ETH needs the win to find a new job. Players need the win to impress the new manager.

If you think we're winning that final your in for a big surprise.

No amount of prep is winning us that.

The fact the news that we are already talking to other managers comes out just 2 days before a cup final just go to show how much of a shambles this club has been.

Takes away from Saturday regardless of the result.

We just had our lowest ever finish in the Premier League, it would be a surprise if he wasn’t sacked after the Cup Final. Unfortunately the future of the manager was always going to be an issue in the build up.

Individual mistakes (and freak luck) cost us against Sevilla last season and Onana is mostly at fault for the CL failure.

Who would have thought that would happen, after Onana looked so good with Inter in CL?

The injuries up front were manageable, but not to the extend that we should have been competing for the title or such nonsense. At best our squad was going to get us 4th this season.
He's done a good job if he gets 4th. But he gets 8th

They should be talking to managers though, they have to in this scenario and speculation was inevitable. The only way to stop it would have been to back him but you can’t do that when you want get rid of him.

He’s obviously gone. They could put all this to bed and say he’s staying next season but haven’t.

It’s all turning into a typical farce with a huge game this weekend. Shame.

I'd genuinely love to know exactly who is briefing all of these guys.

Planned from Ineos? Planned from ETH? Horrible surprise for both?

Not expecting this to happen is peak stupidity and anyone with any sense called it months ago.

I’m worried it seems a bit like we’ve panicked and been a bit reactive here. No way this should be leaking right before the final, very Woodward/LVG esque which was a real low point for us.
I suspect they've already made their minds up some time ago, one way or the other. There's certainly an unprecedented managerial merry-go-round happening, and if they were keen on McKenna they might have been surprised by the Chelsea interest, but I suspect Ashworth, Berrada and Wilcox have all made a decision on what sort of plan to pursue and who fits with it. The only concerning thing here, if these reports are true, is the inability to keep things quiet, which is just so poor.

I'd guess it's come from the managers they've approached. We can't afford to not make our targets aware that the job will be open or we risk them going to Chelsea, Bayern, etc. I doubt INEOS actually wanted this news breaking before the FA Cup. ETH, I'm not sure, but it's possible INEOS genuinely might have told him they were undecided, and he was working under the assumption he could still be here next season. The way INEOS have worked with their other businesses certainly doesn't make me think they'd have any moral issues with doing this if they thought it was the best way to avoid drama.

So I think we can all agree it's over.

I would say it would be prudent to announce he is departing after the final before it.

That way fans players staff can say goodbye at Wembley.

I agree, I am talking about it being leaked to press right before a cup final.

That’s funny to you?
Yes, because the reactions are completely over the top and full of hyperbole. A lot of posters have made their mind up about him to the extent they know they would complain and be wound up from his words before he utters a breath from his mouth.

I find that funny because it's an illustration of how irrational the hatred is.

Since you always claim to sit on the fence, I presume you also find the opinions of those vehemently pro ETH as hilarious too?

Is it not worrying that we're apparently changing how we operate, but have the same wave of leaks before a final?

Yeah my assumption is they had someone lined up but this recent flurry of activity makes me question that somewhat. Maybe they genuinely are seeing how ETH does in the final which seems odd.

When they're on similar levels of hyperbole, most definitely. Berbaclass has had a couple of belters.

If I had to decide, I would edge toward giving Ten Hag another season but can totally understand the sack rationale. I've reached a stage where I'm broadly indifferent.

I’d been thinking in recent weeks he might actually stay for now but the more the club stay silent, the more that tells me that he will be dismissed after the cup final. Ineos are smart and know it would have been a strong statement that he is our man for the future before the cup final to remove all doubt, if he was staying. I expect a statement on Sunday to say he’s leaving and they thank him for everything etc etc.

Hate all this noise around the issue before the fecking cup final. Everything should be focused on Saturday and nothing else. I know it's unlikely that we'll win but we have to believe it can happen.
This is on club. Instead of denying everything and going out with a statement we let media play with us. I was just talking about that in transfer thread.
We should be standing behind manager and show that we are all one. What happens after season can be dealt later. This is not the time. I would have banned every media or journalist writing one sentence about manager and his future from press conference.

The likeliest scenario is that this is such an easy thing to use for journalists to generate traffic given the managerial vacancies and managers available. That being said, I do hope we are keen on McKenna over a Tuchel or a Poch. I very much doubt an FA Cup final has any bearing on whether or not they think ETH fits with the overall vision (not if they're serious people anyway).

As much as I'd like to satisfy curiosity, I don't see any benefit to announcing his sacking just before the cup final. By not saying anything at least it gives him the chance to focus on the game, rather than answer questions about the dismal season and how much he's responsible for.
Exactly. It is good style in my book to make and communicate the change after the season, and certainly not to make such an announcement before a cup final. It is unneccessary, let the team and the manager work and then move on in due time.
And you cannot control media speculation, that is not on the club but comes with the territory after a season like this.

SAF - Evans
Moyes - Both gone.
LvG - Martial, Rashford, Shaw
Mourinho - Dalot, McTominay
Ole - Lots
EtH - Antony etc.

So yeah, about 5.
Who's gone?

Is this signings by managers or just players who played under managers?

Evans is a Ten Hag signing.
