Poor.

Only thing he's good at is timewasting. Pretty good at playing the game there. Not good at actually being a fullback. There's not much in it, but I'd prefer Valencia over him at RB, if we have to play one of the two of them.

I thought he was very shaky defensively today and while he made some decent runs forward his final ball was really poor.

We need an upgrade on him and Jones this window, badly. He’s just so poor defensively and haven’t been a threat attacking wise for a long time now, it’s laughable he’s starting for us.

Very poor, was an absolute mess at times at both ends of the pitch

Firmly believe we score more than 2 if Dalot was playing on the right instead of Ash. Completely wasteful going forward.

I thought Young was ok today. There was an over-hit free-kick that went out of play but otherwise didn't notice too much wrong. He had a few crosses that got cut-out but there were a lot more Brighton defenders in the box than United players. Did well to get a touch that stopped a Brighton attack one time when he'd been out of position.

What game were you watching? Gave unnecessary freekick, missed simple clearances in the first 20 minutes itself. With the positions he was taking he only had 1 decent cross otherwise was usually hitting the first player. Very poor game all around by him today.

One of the players that spreads anxiety within the squad. For a 33yr old, he tends to play like a 13yr old.

Always wanting to hoof the ball upfield regardless of whether there is an option close to him or not.

Don't get me started with his need to always want to pass the blame for his own mistakes.

He did alright.

Young's an unfashionable player, so it's always going to take an exceptional performance for people to feel brave enough to say nice things.

At some point, in every single game, he will crouch down after a challenge, face down and touching the grass with just his fingers, and hold that pose for about 4 seconds seemingly getting his breath back or recovering from injury after he let out a massive scream.

Probably the most notable thing I see from him each week.

Both Young and Valecia are finished, both have been good servants for the club, especially Valencia.

His typical hoof ball up the right wing to nobody is one of the main reasons we relinquish control.
I have a lot of time for Young, but he obviously isn't a top quality fullback, which isn't shocking given it isn't his real position.

I'm not fan of his attitudes regarding his mistakes. Every time he made a mistake today he tried to find a team mate to yell at. Was caught too much out of line in the first half for my liking.

He's the very definition of a try-hard player, every time there is a change you hear managers about him being a great professional and having a great attitude so I reckon he'll earn himself an extension.

We do need to spend big in the summer to fix our defence though.

There was a great opportunity to deliver a cross beginning of second half, we had two men lining up to tap in and this guy hits the first man. So so poor.

How did this guy become club captain again? He is a grown man who plays like an academy kid. He's very infuriating to watch and it sickens me watching him point fingers at his team mates for every mistake he makes. Can't cross a decent ball to save his life. Needs replacing asap and in no way should his contract be extended. This is Manchester United Football Club not Manchester United Sentimental Club. We need to become ruthless and get rid of players like him, Jones, Valencia etc. who are clearly done at this level of football.

Was not a good performance from him. We are in need of a replacement. Could even be late 20s whilst we slowly develop Dalot.
A few fans groaning around me as well. Bless his heart he really works hard but just not good enough.

I dont understand what people see in him. Decent runs? Come on, put a U14 player and he can do those runs. Playing 1 good game from 5/6 its a disgrace for our standards.

Perhaps, one of the main reasons for OGS to continue playing Young despite his poor form is that he is the only one able to take corners / indirect free kicks in the team.

Well, of course there is also Mata but he rarely plays, and Mata aside, no one (from the current starting eleven) can take a corner (provided that Pogba and Rashford - those who might - are main addressee of those deliveries so are out of equoation) :(

Maybe the key person who might save us from Young is Sanchez. Alexis definitely can take a corner, so if he plays, then Young is no longer critical...

When last did we score from a corner, let alone a young corner?

No problems with evaluating his performances but what's the point in constantly rabbiting he's not good enough full-back to start for us every week ? Everybody knows that, I'd wager he himself knows that. He's hardly going around the streets of Manchester saying he is I guess? He is what he is, a model pro on his last legs who tries to do what he can to help out the team in need.

Can't fault Young's ability to give it his all be it on the wings or full back position. Unfortunately for us, he's bang average regardless of his efforts.

Young, Valencia & Jones cannot be sold soon enough. They offer little to nothing and havent for a while now

I like Young but I hope this is his last season here. We need serious upgrades

I don't really mind if he doesn't get forward too much or put in great crosses, as a defender his primary job is to defend. He is awful at it. Every single game he is caught out of position countless times. Again today he played a Brighton player onside at 1-0 and almost cost us the lead. He costs us so many goals.

That’s another story. Still, OGS likely needs a designated corner/indirect FK specialist in the starting XI, and we don’t have any in the squad apart from Young, Mata (he rarely plays) and a duo of Pogba and Rashford (how are needed in the box to wait for these crosses).

That’s the problem of the squad we have - and it needs to be addressed. Sanchez could indeed help in this regard, or perhaps Fred

I'd say that was his best performance in a few games, passed it well most of the time and mostly did well agaisnt Iwobi even if their goal did come down his flank.

Probably not going to be a popular opinion but I thought he was torn to pieces most of the night.

You’re right. His positioning was dreadful and a better left back than Kolasinac may have done more damage. He’s far too narrow, at times.

I appreciate the narrow formation makes it more difficult for a full back, but defensively he’s still piss.

I thought the same too. Iwobi had him on toast. It looked like he must have fell for every shimmy out there. Not good.

They overloaded left wing. Young and Herrera were defending 2 vs 3 or 4 at times. Lukaku nowhere to be seen to help out. He stayed alerted and made some important interceptions.
That's the right. The only downfall of Lukaku and Lingard interchanging their positions was Young was left isolated in defensive cases. I think he did what we can but any back would have struggled anyway.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
There were a few times where he struggled, but that's absolutely understandable considering it was generally he and Herrera up against three or four Arsenal players. Considering how much it was overloaded I thought he did brilliantly for most of the match, with his passing also very good. If our left attack had such little success despite consistently having an extra man (or two) against the defence, we'd be giving our attack terrible ratings.

Exactly this. Considering how much Arsenal focused their attack down that side he did really well. Apart from the goal - which was well worked - did they create any other great chances from that side?

Also people keep saying Iwobi had him on toast, yet I can remember a single time Iwobi actually got around him.

Did a good job I thought. Do have to upgrade on that position though next season
