Centre backs usually touch the ball more than any other position. As we saw tonight, that is something we do not ever want McT to do! Very sensible decision IMO.
Very true. Even funnier is that Eriksen seemed to play the holding role with McT further forward, at least that's how it looked to me.

Seems that EtH shares the view that Mctominay is not someone you want involved in the early stages of build up play in our half.

The plan is to stay as DM until he's 38 then he moves to CB and plays until he's 45.

He would be one of the best bargains United has ever had then. It may inspire Bruno to move further back too ... goalie perhaps? The first keeper-sweeper/attacking-mid.

Especially considering ETH places a huge value on having one CB comfortable distributing from the back at a higher level than just passing it sideways to the fullback.

It really should be noted how much better the team plays as a whole when we have a CB that can thread the ball through the lines. Makes us much more dangerous to press as we can break a team wide open with two passes.

Bruno can be a penalty specialist. He will distract every PK taker by chatting shit nonstop, complaining about who the feck knows and looking very punchable by default.

  First goalie to get two consecutive red cards in the history of the PL.

Knowing Bruno as we do, he would probably intentionally shave his head bald; employ some kid to shine a bright light into his shimmering baldness to refract that beam of light onto the penalty taker's eyes as he is about to kick.... and lead to his 3 months suspension, another first in the history of the PL.

Bar a little mistake at the end Casemeiro was outstanding last night. What I really liked about him is his positioning and awareness. He was the only player in our defence who was constantly looking over his shoulder to see where everyone was and adjusting his position to suit, he therefore always looked like he was in the right place at the right time. A great footballer.

Playing center back is a waste of his talents although he did it flawlessly(well almost) in this match, I wonder why ten hag choose put him in there instead of the more conventional choice of mactom, perhaps to gauge how he'll handle the task?
Because CBs start attacks since the long ball game took a break. This is not a post to crush McTominay but he’s not someone who anyone (including him) wants to be on the ball too much.

I'd imagine it was to aid with our build up play given casemiro and mctominay are like chalk and cheese when it comes to passing ability.

Managed to both run the game & be our best midfielder, all while playing centre back. Just absolute class.

Did a fine Job at CB but why did ETH choose him ahead of Maguire?

He's what we've been looking for for decades. Almost unfair that we had a free run at him.

Laughable how good he is at times.

Our best and most important player.

The people who were criticising this signing as a panic, the guy is world class, great performance.

Like Matić in possession but three times faster, more agile and aggressive out of possession. Spectacular.

Phenomenal player. How can a defensive midfielder pass like that? Late on in a game, just after a World Cup, and he’s still putting in the yards to win the ball back.

He's one of the best midfielders in the world.

Which really makes you wonder... what the actual feck is he doing here?!
