If Jr Schmeichel wasn't way off his line for that pen save then he'd have a goal anyway.
Should have been re-taken he was practically on the six yard box, otherwise a pretty much comprehensive penalty with good power. Love his game, so much power, didn't come off today. Work hard and get it out against Stoke.

He was good today, I like watching him play so much. He gives the same feeling the likes of van Nistelrooy and van Persie gave in the past, each time he has the ball around penalty area/in the box you sense that there could be something out of it.

He's our new striker and our current top goal scorer. He was obviously going to take our first penalty, it's hard to understand why people are confused why he took it.
Those aren't very good criteria to select a penalty taker. People on here are arguing that penalty specialists should be taking penalties, not field goal specialists. It's hard to understand why you are so confused about this.

Thing with the penalty was that Schmeichel was already moving to his right before Lukaku even struck the ball - he just needed to readjust and slot it anywhere on the right of goal.

When they showed where he'd placed all his last six penalties it was obvious Schmeichel would save it.
Yeah i don't understand that. Every single one to the left. Schmeichel was obviously going that way.

His hold up play and few of the first time passes were excellent after missing the penalty he tried a bit too much hitting shots with power instead of his usual finishing.

I'll echo what others said about his general play, excellent forward play. Won so many flick ons which didnt work out but was very busy and involved. Didn't really have any decent service though did he in terms of chances.

Hold up play was pretty good today but he needs to get involved in the attacks more. It's okay just being a decent finisher, but you need to offer an option yourself to break down compact defences. I don't think he's quite good enough technically to be able to operate in tight spaces, that's the issue.

As others ha e said, I knew as soon as the stat came up that he'd miss.

All the shots on the same side, does he think opposition goalkeepers don't do their homework? ROFL

Was OK this game, still frustrated that when were on a counter he tries to play target man rather than making a run looking for a through ball or to take a defender away

I hope he's not going to be too down about the penalty. It was a decent hit. Schmeichel just pulled off a great save albeit two yards off his line!

His hold up play was really good, top player who will only get better and better.

He takes crap penalties, tho, always shoots on the same side.

Very very good overall play I thought. Not easy to be alone against half of Leicester's team but he managed to control the ball and keep our game flowing. I wish we would manage to create more chances for him but that was not an easy game. Shame about the penalty though

The missed penalty aside I think he had a good game against avery difficult while physical side. He had to deal with the likes of Morgan, Maguire etc a lot of times on his own with "high balls" played from the back. Think he did a decent job there.

He should have scored that penalty no doubt about that but at the same time even the best players in history have missed penalties and Schmeichel was flying on this day. The more or less open header could have been a goal, however, we can't expect him to score every chance he gets. So all in all I think he did well, nothing more nothing less - happy for him that the missed penalty didn't cost us..

He should not be our penalty taker, but apart from that he had good game.

I hope that we can try some low crosses across the face of the goal a bit more, as he makes a lot of runs which are perfect for those. Instead, we ignore that and just float them in the box which are easily cleared.

He shot the penalty today on the right side again and the keeper went after it, also again but it enters this time. He really needs to start changing the sides on which he shot his penalties.

Other than this happy for his hattrick boosting his confidence. We need to feed him with more accurate crosses to get the best out of him, though, and this match proves this. The other 2 goals came from a direct crosses, both aerial and on the ground. He's lethal on taking benefit of these crosses.

Meunier would be an excellent addition to this team. Hopefully we're in for him next year.

Would be great having him ping those balls in to Lukaku

and the keeper went after it
Keeper started to go the other way first and by the time he was in any position to get a touch on the ball it was already passed him.

Also instead of hitting for power like he did against Leicester, he went for placement this time.

He's not going to score any more penalties against competent PL keepers until he learns how to change it up a bit. That's seven in a row in the exact same spot, if I'm not mistaken? Herrera, Mata or Pogba should be taking our penalties.

Good he took the responsibility for the penalty shortly after missing one vs Leicester.
Even though it was 'only' Gibraltar nice that he made a good impression.

Isn't he a United fan as well or am I getting him mixed up with someone else?
Yes, I think you're right.

Looks like a decent right back, who I suspect won't get much playing time at PSG with Alves there now.

Good point. The moment he changes it up, keepers are fecked. They have nothing to base themselves on.

I watched a youtube reel of his play against Gibraltar and he missed quite a few chances. Both goals were after a cross, but whenever he had a through ball his finishing wasn't as good as it's supposed to be. Keeping in mind it was Gibraltar, I think he should've scored 1 or 2 goals more, at least.
