He should win player of the year if City win the league, there are others on the same level but he deserves the award for the career he’s had
That has to be Alan Shearer. The actual number of goals, mostly whilst playing for clubs with no hope of challenging for the title. For me he's the best outright striker the PL has ever seen. His goalscoring ratio is extraordinary.
Its a hard one to call for me. Shearer's stats are worse but as you say, he played for a side the equivalent of modern Spurs/Liverpool and was never at the best club in the league. Even at Blackburn they only really had a couple of seasons. That has to be Alan Shearer. The actual number of goals, mostly whilst playing for clubs with no hope of challenging for the title.
Only other candidate would be VVD but defenders don't win itAye, I was just thinking that. No other stand out candidates and he's probably due some official individual recognition given he's one of the best strikers in PL history.
If his goals stop Liverpool from winning the title then he 100% deserves it as far as I'm concerened.
Had to be Livepool fansAnd last time half the people said they'd prefer Firmino over Agüero in a combined City/Pool first XI
City's team is just stacked with world-class players, it's unreal.
Try getting someone of Aguero or Silva’s ability in today’s market. They’d both be priced well over £100m+ isn’t it? Not really comparable to what we spent on Lukaku.Who's the mastermind behind City's football development? They bought players like Aguero and Silva a long time ago. We spent 70m on Lukaku.
Indeed, and as I type, we now have a better goal difference than Chelsea. One of the few City games I’ve really enjoyed, they have been truly outstanding and have made Chelsea look very ordinary.Knows there's work to do.
Because he actually plays with 10 donkeys or close to it.Don't understand why it's never happened for him with Argentina.
Last WC in fairnes he scored twice and Sampaoli completely lost his mind but all the other tournaments, particularly the Copa America's he's played and not made much impact in.
Remember the narrative is Messi plays with 10 donkeys at international level.
There's something to be said about retiring as a club's best ever player and top goalscorer. Plus he's won a fair few titles there.Could've done it for a big team but decided to stay at City his whole career instead.
Well for Copa America this summer it should be Aguero upfront with Messi and Dybala floating off him. Icardi reserve on the bench.Because he actually plays with 10 donkeys or close to it.
Aguero vastly underperforms with Argentina and so many of their stars. That’s despite having a lot of space to work in given the attention Messi gets and being setup by Messi.
Yet they can’t make it happen.
It doesn’t matter what they are on paper or how they performs at their clubs, when they, including Aguero, can’t make it happen in the national team.
I think City fans take David Silva as their best player. But obviously that's subjective. There's something to be said about retiring as a club's best ever player and top goalscorer. Plus he's won a fair few titles there.
If Aguero keeps it up he'll get the record in 150 games less than Shearer. That has to be Alan Shearer. The actual number of goals, mostly whilst playing for clubs with no hope of challenging for the title.
Different player to Henry.Better than Henry.
We see it differently then. The fact that him and Silva stayed at City and made them what they are makes me respect them more, to be honest. It's a boost to their legacy, not a detriment. I think more players should do it.I think City fans take David Silva as their best player. But obviously that's subjective.
He could've played for Real or Barca. Being City's top goalscorer doesn't hold the same weight imo. Rooney is United all time too scorer. Bigger achievement imo.
I agree with your sentiment. But playing devils advocate you could argue the same about Aguero with A.Madrid.We see it differently then. The fact that him and Silva stayed at City and made them what they are makes me respect them more, to be honest. It's a boost to their legacy, not a detriment. I think more players should do it.
He has. It's his 8th season for City. I don't know much about their history but surely he'll be one of their biggest legends.Just saw that he's 30. Feels like he's been around for aeons.
Aguero or RVN perhaps better debate?Different player to Henry.
Aguero is the most natural box finisher in PL history. Completely instinctive and always knows where the target is.
Worth his weight in gold to City. Almost literally.
Quite outstanding.
Funnily enough City probably would not have bought Aguero had Alexis Sanchez not chosen Pep's Barcelona instead.Who's the mastermind behind City's football development? They bought players like Aguero and Silva a long time ago. We spent 70m on Lukaku.
They were. City wasn’t interested in selling and he seems like a loyal guy. A bit like Ribery at Bayern (and yes, Kun probably had the better career). It still continuously baffles me how Madrid/Barca never came in for him at any point during his time at City. I remain convinces if he played for us he'd have been linked every other day
