ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Absolutely ridiculous decision.

Did the umpire think 'he's back in the hutch, feck it'?
I think that's exactly what the umpire did. It took a few views to be sure, Williams had already gone but if he'd held on then that surely would've been overturned.

The 3rd umpires in this tournament have made some ridiculous decisions.. What's the point in having a replay if he can't see that he had touched the rope.. Nice exciting finish ruined,Williams deserved that 100..

Williams absolute moron there. Had he stayed, it would have been overturned.

OMG Mupairawarawa

Best match of the tournament surely. Can't believe we've blown a 331 total and a massively favourable call by the third umpire. Our bowling is so poor.

Great game!! Zimbabwe so unlucky.

The 3rd umpire deserves a ban. Shocking decision on Williams.

The ICC will be total cnuts if they get rid of the associates next time round. Give them more games!

That Mooney guy blatently cheated there. He must have known it was a 6 and he even signalled it and then though, oh I better celebrate instead

It was always out once Williams walked off. Once you've crossed the line, you can't come back.

Not surprising anymore when our batsmen choke. Despite all their fancy stats they've never been one's to go chasing scores of any substance. After being knocked out by New Zealand in the last world cup I've lost all faith in this teams ability to get it done. Gibbs and Klusener are the only batsmen we had that had the nerve to do special things, the rest of them have all been failures of the big moments.

Why don't teams take their time and bat sensibly? It's all about swinging the bat these days.

Some of South Africa's dismissals were completely unnecessary. They had 47 overs to chase 230 odd and to get bowled out in 33 overs with 30 runs left is completely unforgivable.

Classic example was Steyn. He's a bowler. With AB at the other end did he really have to swing his bat. Why not hold up one end. Brainless stuff.

Very true. AB himself didn't cover himself in any glory today IMO.

AB was clearly worried about being stranded at one end. If he had not gone into attacking mode, SA would have been all out for 170 with AB not out at one end.

Problem for SA is that none of their bowlers are reliable batsmen. Philander would have been useful in this sort of situation.

I was actually saying the same thing on Twitter during the match, the amount of mindless slogging in this world cup has been really ridiculous. MSD showed yesterday the perfect way to bat in a situation like this, you need to get it as close as possible while playing risk free cricket. Against quality attacks if you take so many risks then sooner rather than later you will miss one, Nz will have the same fate as soon as someone puts a good score on board vs them. What Steyn did today was embarrassing and the fact that he kept slogging till he got out with AB at the other end is pathetic not only on Steyn's part but also on AB the captain.

The SA-Pak game reminded me of the SA-Eng game from the last World Cup. Better for South Africa to bottle it now than in the knock-outs.

These are the things test cricket teaches you. If you have never had to hold on for 20-odd overs to salvage a draw from an otherwise lost cause, you'll never learn to bat under pressure.

New Zealand made the same mistake the other day. Instead of trying to keep wickets and get the win, they nearly lost the match while attempting a 10-over finish. Guptill is the biggest moron in that lineup. You're the fecking opener and McCullum is smashing every ball on the other end, so why do you need to try the same? Keep your wicket and rotate the strike please! So many batsmen fail to do this simple thing these days. It's really sad.

On the other hand I am glad to see that the World Cup is not a complete farce thanks to these close contests. Makes the game worth watching again, after those rubbish 400+ scores and the chasing team surrendering.

Just watched the Pakistan-South Africa highlights, suffice to say the game was brilliant. A quality attack defending a small total. I'd rather this than a high scoring run chase.

Him going all out is understandable, but exposing his bowlers was stupid. He should have farmed the strike and protected them. And let's be honest, he scored 77 but it was far from convincing, unlike his previous innings.

True, also if Saffers are so worried about the fact that their bowlers not being able to bat then surely their main batsmen should be playing lesser shots rather than trying to take risks.

SA might still go out and win the WC. But at this point I wouldn't bet on it. It's less of choking and more of the fact they aren't that good. They clearly miss a good all rounder and their batting is too dependant on a couple of worldies.
