The "Fear Madrid" **** headed by @ehsanul needs to be thread banned IMO. Nothing but a bunch of doom and gloom WUMs.

Once again.

Marotta only mentioned United when asked about it yesterday. If Madrid were involved we would absolutely know

Have Real even bid for him, are there any reports that Real have even agreed a contract with Pogba?
Not that anyone knows. It takes us months to consider preparing a bid but I'm not sure Madrid work that way. For me, they're are in with a shout. I hate to say this but I don't think he's coming back. Those sods will find the cash from somewhere. I will still get excited by every positive bit of info but I think it has gone quiet for a reason

So DeBruyne/Lukaku/Mahrez/Hazard DDG etc etc etc are all crap. o.....k.
KDB plays for our neighbour rivals, Lukaku isn't the quality of player to get us back where we belong, Mahrez has had one very good season in a team built to play to his strengths (while it also looks he's staying), Hazard plays for a rich Russian owned club and wouldn't sell us Hazard in a million years.

In terms of actual English talent, they are extremely underwhelming. Those players are all foreign and if we were to sign them all of them bar Lukaku, who is okay and Mahrez would go for values close to Pogba.

Pogba and his agent seem to be just taking the piss throughout this saga and they're just making United look like mugs now.

If pogba truly wanted to come back here to United he would've made it clear by now but his silence on this whole saga is deafening he's literally said nothing in all these weeks. Riola is the one mouthing off and doing all the pushing but all that Cnut wants is his £20 million agent fee or whatever.

Guarantee In a few years he will just turn into a snake again and this time try to engineer Pogba a move to Madrid although that's what pogba wants anyway by the looks of it. We will end up selling for a loss too because there's no way we'll get £100 mill back for him because he's not worth anywhere near that now

I'd love United to tell juve and riola to feck off and move to a different target we've already missed out on kante who would've been perfect and we could've spent the excess £70 odd million elsewhere Improving the team
I tend to agree with you, would love us to tell Raiola to get fecked,we must have other targets in sight and should pursue them with haste rather than being dicked around

I'm so glad I'm not invested in this one. Vidal crushed my muppet heart so bad I'm not even sure I'll be able to trust again. I still have a bookmark to a Chilevision stream saved just as a reminder of how bad things can get :(

With that said, I think this is a done dealio.

In all fairness I don't give a damn about Madrid.
We want to pay a World Record fee for a player, with a huge wage.
That player has to show us some sort of commitment.
I've seen a lot of commitment from Riaola, but nothing from Pogba himself.
Even Memphis (for a lower wage and transfer fee), was complimenting us before he arrived.
I think I would be annoyed if anyone from our club was complementary about another club so i commend him for being professional. A least with DDG he kept his mouth shut throughout the process when RM came sniffing around him and so he didn't have to do any back tracking when it fell through.

Looked pretty positive when the lequipe story came out but everything else so far has been hot air. Can't see it happening now in all honesty.

Im not Jose, nor am i a scout BUT i AM a realist. Its not my role, i know this will surprise you, to identify other targets.

If we get him its got ADM written all over it. We all admire Buyern, would they go to this level? No, course not.

My view is to concentrate on British/EPL talent - ala Buyern. As this Galactico fascination just aint working for us. We are being played, almost every time.
Good post. I just wish it was easier to take the top prem players from rivals.

Juve bought Higuaín for 80m.

He's off.

Whether he's off to us is another story.
And as that deal is official they must have agreed to sell Pogba already, assuming their finances require it. Unless they really can afford it regardless, you don't bet the house on something thats not confirmed yet.

Which will be fine. We would have hopefully won a fair bit and made our money back and some more selling him to Madrid. Don't see the downside myself.

@S.A.N.F - suppose this answers you too
True, but I don't wanna have a player that doesn't really want to play for us, there are others in the team that are more willing to fight for the club than him.

Worth mentioning that whilst people bring up Vidal and Thiago as examples where it ended badly, the Pogba situation is more like Mourinho and Ibrahimovic. All news was positive but as soon as there was silence people began to get paranoid and panic that those deals weren't happening.

Seen these quotes from Jose?

Meanwhile, United manager Jose Mourinho was recently coy about the club's prospects of signing Pogba from Juventus. Asked if he was confident of landing his transfer target, the United boss said, according to the Daily Mail: "I don't speak about players from other clubs. He's a Juventus player. If any club wants one of my players and it speaks about him I would not be happy.

"So Paul Pogba is a Juve player and what we are trying to do we are trying to do in an honest, correct, institutional way."

United have already signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, and Mourinho insisted the club have other midfielder options besides Pogba. "The only thing I can say to you is we did 75 percent of our market. We established four important target profiles - not faces but profiles - and we got three of them at the very early stage of the market," he said.

"Now we have 25 percent of our market to conclude until August 31, and that player is not the only one. It's a profile we have, we have options for that profile, and we're going to get a fourth player. But maybe it's not the one you think."

Ronaldo
Benzema
Ozil
Varane
Kroos
Bale
Modric? We were often linked, don't know if we ever made a serious enquiry.
Benzema and Varane were influenced by Zidane, whereas Bale just wanted to go where his guy crush was at. Spurs didn't want to sell Modric to us. Fergie didn't seriously want Ozil. Kroos probably was put off by Moyes/LVG.

We may have inquired about all of them at some point but we're serious after Benzema and Varane, Bale not so sure.

The only actual thing holding Real back is the fact they don't seem to have enough cash to hand. A quick sale of Morata or James is the only way I can see Pogbas situation changing. Either sign for us or stay at Juve - from Jose's old quotes, don't think he'll want this to drag on much longer and may go to plan B.

Only if we move on to other targets, maybe a late move in August by Real for him as they'll surely have sold someone by then. Zidanes quotes are a declaration on "hold on for us Pogba", hopefully its too late and we wrap this up.

If my memory isn't too bad, Varane also saw the purchase of Jones as a negative for joining United.

Well, hours can be 2... can be 8... but they can as well be 5798. He might come here when he's 35 to play his final season here and then retire

Just saw the thing about his medical being cancelled. I don't know what you lot have said about is as there has been 20 pages since last night, but i can't see this happening now, Pogba obvioulsy wants Madrid and has been stalling hoping they will come in for him.

The only bright side to this is that all you annoying "lol pathetic how some of you are scared of Madrid lol" people will have to eat some serious crow.

Interesting -- according to La Stampa (printed version) - it's done. Juve will receive 100M Euros and Raiola 15M. What needs to be agreed is how the payments will be made. Nerozzi sounds very smug about this deal, saying that Juve made the deal of the century (which is true).

Zaza has just refused Wolfsburg. Sampdoria are interested however I doubt they will pay 20m for him. That must hurt Juventus who had spent ridiculous money for Higuian,

It's been proven to be false. There was no medical arranged.

Maybe we can have a sticky post summarizing all the facts about the transfer, so that posters can have a uniform view of developments so far.

Perez likes these big deals to stretch out so that it gets a lot of media attention, but he wouldn't just let it all be United talk for the last month if we were really in for the player. That's the number one reason why I think we're not in for him.

Again with the finances..? What finances are you lot talking about all the time. 15-20 mil € here or there as if Madrid was broke. You are talking about the club that topped the Delotte Football Money leauge (biggest revenue in football) for the eleventh consecutive year (generating net profit at the end of the fiscal year). I can't believe this is even being discussed. It's literally identical to Real Madrid fans claiming "United can't be in for the player because they have no money". Sounds stupid doesn't it?

Our squad can not accommodate what we already have (there's already one 80 mil € player with huge wages on the bench), so no other galacticos are coming as long as he is here. If James is not leaving, Pogba is not coming. That's the end of it.
I'm not saying you can't afford him. I'm saying you won't pay that much and will try to get the fee reduced. If I were a betting man I'd say that he'll join Madrid for £75m before the window closes with either James or Isco leaving the club to compensate (probably to Juve).

Well whats holding it up then?. Why would Zidane of said what he did yesterday if Pogba to us really was a 'done deal' like so many keep saying?. If it really was a done deal, Zidane would of tried to save face for Madrid by saying something like "we have our own targets, Pogba is not one of them" or something like that.

Just because someone currently plays in England is no guarantee that they are not just as likely to want to move elsewhere at some point like ADM.

The problem also with focusing on British and Pl talent is one there is very little top British players around and two any top player British or otherwise playing in the PL will most likely play for another top English side. Those types of transfers are rare these days, and hard to pull off on one wants to sell to a direct rival.

And besides in the last few years we have bought Fellaini, Mata, Shaw and Schneiderlin from other English teams.

Where the goals come from.
Yes but in the context of him mentioning right afterwards that he's a Juventus player we know what he meant. Pogba is not a Madrid player, he's a Juventus player and I can't say anything more on it. That's the just of it. Sky's version make it seem as if a move to Real is impending. Surely Marca would have milked that all day long. They haven't.
Still not sure how you confidently read it that way. The "today" which you've totally missed out puts a pretty different slant on it - surely a massive implication that he expects him to be at some point in the future?

Proven to be false by the doctor whose name was mentioned as the one who was meant to be doing the medical.

The thing holding Real back is, an actual need for the player.

But if Pogba were to go to Real, I can imagine a merry-go-round between us 3 clubs...Pogba to Madrid. Kroos to United. The money to Juve.

However, I still believe Pogba is coming to us.
