Vardy's fine isn't he (surprisingly), you mean the guy closing Lucas down? Who does start outside (I think)

I don't know the rule about that, but I have NEVER EVER seen anyone run around the rectangle instead of cutting across. What normally happens is that 'Lucas' steps in to play the ball inside the box & gets a retake. Officials NEVER going to see it are they? Quite unusual, innit.
I was just parroting what Howard Webb said.

Good manager Klopp admittedly, but Chelsea made Liverpool look better than they actually were on Friday.
I hear this a lot when Liverpool have beaten teams.... Liverpool played ok but *insert team name here* made them look much better than they are. I think that certainly in Friday night's example, Liverpool were good but they made Chelsea play poorly as well. I know we're never going to get a huge amount of credit on a Utd site but we have been brilliant at times this season and a lot of teams will struggle when they play us

Stock reply whenever we win. It's always Team X played shite. Never ever any credit where due, as in they were shite because we made them look that way.

I thought Chelsea made us look worse than we are. Hard to show our full attacking flair when they close down spaces so effectively. For this reason I enjoyed the games against Arsenal and Leicester much more.

Once upon a time I used to post a LOT on here. ;)

Chelsea are still a very good side, even with Hazard finally ending his extraordinary 2016 purple patch. Utd are in for a huge shock when they meet. Hope Eva is in the crowd. :)

While I think it's unfair to blame Liverpool's positive results on their opponents (fwiw I think 'Pool are making top 4) Chelsea aren't all that, they have the bones of a good team with some extraordinary players, but have some glaring issues imo. We were disgraceful against them and yet managed a draw.

Klopp is an excellent manager, I like the fact there's a strong chance he'll stay at Liverpool for a fair few seasons too, they've become a really entertaining team to watch.

There is always an element of playing teams at the right time - Leicester were poor against us but have since put in 2 good performances and settled down into the season a bit.
It's also probably a good time to play West Ham and Stoke right now.
Sometimes though the opposition were poor because you played so well.

There has always been many comments on here that when Liverpool win it must be because the other team played crap, not that some don't give us any credit either.

I fancied Chelsea for top 3 before the season started and didn't think we would make the top 4. Guess will have to see how it turns out. It's not as if Liverpool have made a start like City have, we aren't in the top 4 as it stands. However, in terms of teams abilities we have had a really difficult start to the season playing just 1 home game in the first 5 and already playing Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea (away), and Leicester (home). That means nothing if we have more bad days like we did against Burnley.

I didn't before the season kicked off, but I think your lot have looked great. Smart transfer dealings (even more so if Karius is a success), they all fit the system too. I'd like Liverpool to do well, pretty sure they made a profit this summer but like Klopp said, improvement on the training ground is very important and you can see a lot of the players progressing.

I was sad Allen left, I thought he'd be able to win Klopp round.

what he actually means here is that he posts lots when liverpool do well. so he was mad posting in the 80's. not been much since, mind, little purple patch in 2005, and again a few years ago with the suarez fc title push. he also manages to get the odd month in here and there, before it all goes to shit again. for the rest of the time he disappears. if spurs and liverpool were actually good, glaston and dumbstar combined would be responsible for half the posts on the caf.

IMO, Liverpool are the only team that can stop Citeh from winning the title but that's unlkely. Even if they beat Citeh twice (not happening), they will win less points overall. Citeh are much more comfortable vs deep sitting defences and have more quality in the squad. But Liverpool may well finish second.

Personally, I'm sceptical about our chances. Mou is not the same manager that he was 5 years ago. He won the title with Chelsea in 2014/15 only because the rivals were generally poor, there was no real competition then.

We did make a small profit as regards our net spend, I actually think we did brilliantly with the outgoings (though many on here still said we didn't sign any good players), Klopp did an excellent job on getting rid of players he didn't want. Future windows will be much easier because of that with hopefully not many leaving and a smaller number of quality players coming in.

Allen did well when he played last season and there were mixed feelings when he was sold, he wanted regular football which he wasn't going to get and to be honest we got a good deal on him when he was sold.

I don't think we can stop City, to be honest I am not sure anyone can the way they are playing.

It's too early to say where we will finish, but I am more hopeful of a top 4 than I was at the start of the season.

I thought we'd live to regret Allen leaving. Wijnaldum is doing all that Allen is doing in terms of solving problems for teammates and being positive on the ball and adds some edge in the final third to go with it. Looks like a steady upgrade so far.

I actually think there's a greater chance of Liverpool beating City twice in the league than Liverpool winning the whole thing. Klopp seems a master at nullifying the very best teams. Apart from Spurs, he's now defeated all the big guns in the past 11 months in one tournament or other.

A lot of people are overreacting again after a couple of good results, although we made the best of a very difficult start we're still not in the top four and need at least 13/15 from our next five games if we want to be called legitimate contenders for top four, let alone the title.

I'd rather win 1-0 than 4-1 next week. We need to be able to keep clean sheets.

Yup, agree with that. Also, I don't think it's a case of him specifically nullifying the big teams, his natural setup is just ideal to beat such teams. Ofcourse, he changes things here and there to counter specific things but overall, the game style remains the same. As I've said many times here, even when he'd just joined, his sides are always brilliant to watch and revel in big matches. His problems start when teams sit back and gives his team the ball to make things happen, I hope he gets the boot before he solves that puzzle :D

Basically the same what I said. You can't match Citeh's consistency at beating small teams, even if you significantly improve at it which I expect to happen.

As long Jose keeps Herrera and Carrick stuck to the bench and Rooney playing as an atticking midfielder, I'd be skeptical too.

Liverpool vs City will be the game of the season for sure, the two best coached teams in the league playing offensive footy. It's gonna' be a great watch.
Let's hope we in better shape by the time we play them, if not, we could get smashed at Anfield.

It was a bit of both admittedly, but soon as Chelsea started to even look interested they were better than you, then when they slipped back into "meh" mode you looked better

I thought it was bit like the Manchester derby. Liverpool played a lot better but the goals came from unexpected situations and in the 2nd half it became more of a game but it's tough to come back from a 2 goal deficit.

Quite the opposite actually. Chelsea played like crap and made you look better than you actually are. Chelsea were trying to soak up the initial presure and drain you out which did not work, only because of a poor defensive error and a worldie. On another day this game could have easily been 1-0 to Chelsea.

Couldn't you also say that the only reason Chelsea scored was due to a defensive lapse from Liverpool? I thought we were excellent in the first half and stamped our authority on the game from the first whistle. It's probably fairer to say that we were good and Chelsea were poor.

That would be giving us some credit though, and we can't have that can we?

Liverpool look good and Liverpool fans should know its what 75% here will say. Same with City (Sunderland were poor, so are WestHam, Stoke and United dominated 2nd half).

You guys look a good side but are still prone to drop a clanger. You'll probably have a great record against the top 6 and throw away silly games ye should be winning. Great to watch, end to end stuff. Theres a few teams I don't look forward to City playing, LFC are one. Chelsea, Spurs and Watford too.

And on another day we wouldn't have let Chelsea in so easily for their goal and Origi would have scored his chance - 3-0 to us.

The thing is it never matters what might happen on the proverbial "other day".

Mignolet's position in an equivalent phase of play.

Just 7-8 games into the season. A long time to go.
This is so true.

Whaut makes me happy is that we have played big teams away abd won two and drew one. Burnley was shite and until half time this was looking shite. It never ended shite .
