In the summer, the Rooney, who has been linked with a move back to Everton, stated he would be willing to sign an extension to stay with the club beyond 2019. His stance has not changed

We won't be giving him an extension, but in the meantime we need rid of him somehow. We need him out of the dressing room. Feck Moyes with that contract.

Yeah he gets great wages but he wants to stay, fight for his place and be professional like he has been. Let's get pissed at him.

The bolded words are why poeople are pissed, he can't be so delusional to not realize he's past it and just in the way of this team moving on.

Give any Tom, Dick and Jane £300k/w and they will want to stay and fight to keep getting the pay coming in. I'm not even surprised anymore that you call that "fighting for his place".

Why in the Rooney thread are you pointing out that the team isn't very good? I'm confused as to what point you're trying to make by doing so.
Team bad. Rooney bad. People say team be better minus rooney Team still shite after rooney dropped. I point out this. Let me know if you're still confused.

Yeah but what's your actual point? I'd argue that the team has been better without Rooney but let's go with your stance and say it hasn't. What's your conclusion? That Rooney should be in the team?

I'm just asking you a question to establish the point of saying the team has been poor in the Rooney thread. I think it's pretty simple.

Do you want Rooney back in the team? Is that what you're saying?

With all the talk about players lacking commitment and fight, it's pretty obvious why manager after manager has picked Rooney. Only a few weeks ago, Gerard Pique talked about how much of a fighter-for-the-cause Rooney is. Football isn't just about fashionable names and formations that you win matches on FIFA.

If Mourinho can get the rest of the squad to fight for United, he'll leave Rooney out of the squad. But until that point comes, he'll continue to put Rooney onto the pitch.

Sorry to to be the one to break it to you guys.

Just relax upper mates. I mention Rooney as an No.8 option based on the fact that we are in lack of midfield options for Swansea match. Herrera got banned, Pogba got injured, Carrick not fit to play, Schweinsteiger got ruled out by Mou. Then only Schneiderlin and a tree left, so i would rather play Rooney as No.8 alongside anchor Schneiderlin than a useless tree. Just Swansea game you know

He may be a fighter but, if he no longer has the physical attributes to translate desire into performance, then it's irrelevant. Also, I wouldn't give too much weight to Pique's words - he last played with him 8 years ago when Rooney was still both an angry young man and an excellent player.

How about giving weight to Mourinho's opinion? Someone who see him in training every day and knows the mentality of his squad inside and out.

Definitely not. My point is although he may be shite so are we, we aren't currently as a team above his level, but as he plays in the position of our second best player this season, mata, he shouldn't be in the team. But he gets far too much stick in this thread considering the amount of players who have both been worse and offered less to the team in terms of output, our forwards are having a shocker of a season. Zlatan looks slow and snatches at everything, Rashford isn't a wide player, Martial I don't even know, lingard is meh, mkhi must not have had his medical yet, the only one who can be proud of their season is Mata, so Rooney should not get in the team, as mata has been exceptional, but he should get less stick is my point.

I am a big Rooney fan though, he was one of my favourite players 5 years ago so it annoys me to see the way he has been turned on, I would 100% be happy with us selling him in January, best for all parties.

Ibra and Lingard get plenty of stick in their respective threads. Young players are given more leeway just like Rooney had. There's really no need try and defend Rooney by comparing his level to the teams level. It's an odd comparison to draw anyway and it's not even accurate.

We've had nine games since Rooney was dropped. We were awful against Chelsea. Which other games were we as poor as Rooney in?

I don't know, lets just say you're right as the north London derby is about to start and I'm having a bit of this. Bit annoyed Ramsey isn't starting yet though.

You mean the talk that's intended to soften the blow of taking him out of the first XI? Besides it we all know that manager's words that find their way to the press regarding his players have hidden agenda.

Pay him off. We're not going anywhere with him in the dressing room.
:lol::lol::lol:

First it was, 'Drop him. We're not going anywhere with him on the pitch'.

Now it's, 'Pay him off. We're not going anywhere with him in the dressing room'.

He'll leave and some of you lot be still blaming him.

The fact he gets minutes every single game.
Yeah, you've got me convinced. It isn't in anyway connected to the fact that he's our captain, club's future all-time best goalscorer and most recognized striker in our squad ignoring recent developments ( and still he gets shunted about the pitch).

Nah, I'll be relieved when he goes. At least we'll have one less problem of catering to an overpaid has been who brings no leadership to the team.

Overpaid - Not your money.

No Leadership - What you see on the pitch is not everything. You have no fecking clue what happens in the dressing room or on the training pitch.

To be fair, you can hardly call him a good leader based on results for the last 3+ years of his captaincy.

He's lead the squad to mutiny under Moyes, Van Gaal and Hodgeson for England. All three managers lost the dressing room he was supposed to be in charge of. All three managers he has briefed the press on their questionable tactics and training techniques.

If I was a manager, I'd prefer my captain to be pulling in the same direction as me.

It's pretty bloody obvious the team lacks leadership and you have no fecking clue what happens in the dressing room or training pitch as well. But at least we can see the evidence on the pitch and there's nothing good about it. That's all the proof I need.

Thank you Pexbo. People letting their fanboyism get in the way of logic. It's pretty clear we have no leadership.
At the end of the day we all want what's best for the club - not what's best for an individual.

I have no clue, you're right, but I can only listen to what the players say, and they say he is very good around the club. That's all the proof I need.

Are you saying we've got no leadership period, or that when Rooney's in the team we lack leadership?

He's good at having a laugh with and being sociable. Leadership is more than that, and the whole thing needs to culminate on what we see on the pitch. How the players react to adversity etc etc. We've been lacking this, so it's reasonable to assume that he's not a good leader, as that person pushes you to the maximum.

We're talking about Rooney, it's his thread - he's the captain - and he's not shown any proper leadership qualities.

Na. I'd prefer to listen to our players.

The only thing I see him do as captain is argue with the ref which is obviously wasting time so he doesn't gave to try and control a football.
