Even before that.

2015 was a good Summer. The double Schimfield deal were we only paid 24 mil for Morgan and just 6 for BFS. Signed Martial and got a decent deal for Memphis. The manager who signed them just had no clue how to use them. But Woody did his job well.
I don't think those were good signings at all(bar Martial). It's LVG's fault for wanting them imo, not for misusing them.

We paid £26m for him when he had 1 year left on his deal at Dortmund and that was 1.5 years ago. He is a good palyer with value to many teams. Surely his big salary and poor form reduce that value but I think £35m isn't that far off to be honest.
Coming off of a very season (he’s only one in the last 5 years...), looked like a player who could make a step up, presumably not on high wages. Compared to the current situation, I just can’t see why anyone would pay a lot of money for him. Let’s just be thankful for Asrenal! Now can we swap Fellaini for Ozil.

Funny you're saying we were robbed, but many Arsenal fans are happy with this. Some don't undertstand that he only have 6 months left on his contract. City wanted to pay 20£m for him, we could pay one leg from Mikhitaryan with these 20£m.

So happy you decided to go in into this deal. Good deal for you, good deal for us.

Wow that’s awesome, and he’s not a center forward.. oh and btw we have the one right above him too

I don’t want to get ahead of myself, I don’t want to believe it until I see him in a United jersey, but next year the epl will super interesting..

Are you watching closely?
Because we are the ones with most to gain from it.
We're not desperate, and could easily wait until summer. Mkhitaryan presumably wants to play regularly, which he won't if he were to stay here, and Arsenal want a replacement for Sanchez. Us paying up Mkhitaryan's contract makes zero sense. But hey, believe whatever you want.

You were losing him anyway and now you get to replace him with a player that might flourish in your system. It's a win for everyone except Pep and Ballague.

Mkhitaryan is a bench player for United and he is probably worth £20m max. He was bought for £27m.

Arsenal turned down £60m for Sanchez 6 months ago and now United are getting a world class player for the out of form Mkhitaryan, who doesn’t even make our bench. Great deal. Yeah you get a player to add to the Arsenal squad but at the minute he struggles to complete 5 yard passes.

Yea it is a bit ridiculous, we swapped Mkhi for Sanchez. Mkhi had 2.5 years left on his contract, his marketprice is surely around £35m, so we paid £35m (or whatever you would value Mkhi at) for Sanchez and not 0£. On top of that It seems that we had to also buy out Mkhi's contract to get him to agree to switch to Arsenal. I don't know what his salary is but I've been reading amounts between 140k and 200k per week so if it is true we bought his 2.5 year contract out than that would have cost us somewhere between £18m-£26m. That is not taking into account whatever amount we agreed to pay Sanchez as a signing fee, it is not taking into account how much money we are paying to Felicevich (Sanchez is agent) and it is also possible we are paying something to Railoa to make this swap deal happen. All that ofcourse on top of making Sanchez one of the best paid players in the world (his salary will be huge).

This deal is an absolute steal but to say we are getting Sanchez for free is really ridiculous.
That's a cool story and all, but it's already been stated that it was Arsenal who paid up Mkhitaryan's contract and not Utd. We'll have paid the £10m in agent fees to Felicivech, and Alexis's sign-on bonus of £7.5m during the course of his contract, but I doubt very highly, that we will be paying much more than that.

Yeah, Ed has done well when given achievable targets and time for the most part.
I love about Ed his willing to pay what is needed for the sake of the team. No chance a deal like Lukaku or Pogba would have been done under Gill, because he wouldn't have paid the agent like Ed.

It is a win win scenario, its Wenger who has robbed you by allowing this situation to happen in the first place. Still there's no guarantee you would have spent the 60mil any better than Mkhi

That honestly sums it up.

Micky would have barely played for the rest of the season and we would have had some Italian team or Dortmund trying to lowball us while they themselves charge obscene fees.

Aren't you angry that your biggest stars are allowed to run their contracts down?
That's poor management.

Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Lacazette and Aubameyang could be a decent combo. Going to be interesting if Arsenal can muscle into the top 4.

I can't get over how much we've fecked Arsenal over.
Wouldn't say you guys f'ed them over since Sanchez was always going to leave anyways. If Miki finds his form from Dortmund then Arsenal would of received more from a player than any money they would of got from selling a player with 6 months remaining on his contract. Wenger is the only one that F'd Arsenal buy not selling Sanchez last summer when it was obvious he wasn't going to renew his deal.

At least Mkhitaryan can console himself with the thought he won't now have to continuously supply passes to a striker who needs 19 first touches and 23 goal attempts before he scores.

I don't think we'd have gotten Sanchez under Gill either. Ed has learned we had to adapt to match the oil rich clubs and is competing now. He's had a learning curve, but he's nowhere near the clown he was painted as. We are still a bit behind in squad building, but you have to have faith that we will get it right.

We've twice now come from nowhere to sign two of the league's best players.

It is a good deal for both clubs.

Sanchez is a worldclass player who was on the verge of signing for City. To get him in a straight swap for a player we didn't need anymore and would have struggled to sell is a great piece of business for us.

Whilst Arsenal got a good replacement in exchange for Sanchez which you would have struggled to find for the £20m cash that City were offering. So this deal is better for Arsenal than the one City was offering and it is certainly alot better than losing Sanchez for free in the summer. But I do think you guys could have done a better deal in the summer with City, it was a bit daft Wenger didn't sell him back than for that £60m.

Honestly on paper yes but it looks devoid of running around in the midfield that Auba will suffer the same problems as Lacazette.

Exactly. That's what I love about Ed. He doesn't put any excuses or hid behind anything to just not pay and let the top players escape from our hands. He's willing anything and pay to anyone for the sake of the team.

I haven't seen these continous passes to our striker from Mkhi that you are refering to.

The Mkhi we've seen lately could have prime Batistuta infront of him and he still wouldn't be able to pick him out.

He had only one year contract at Dortmund, now he had one until summer 2020 with one possible extra year. He is in his prime age as Sanchez. You really think United/Mouriho would sell us £20m? Okay, than think its, your point of view, I'm sure it wouldn't be the case.

The same moment we would pay £100m for Lemar, because we wouldn't sell him without a replacement. There would be -£40m in this way and i don't care about the the fees to be honest, we need players and not money. We're selling / not spending enough money anyway.

It's not my problem Mikhitaryan can't complete a 5 yard pass for United, i'm sure he will be able to this for an Arsenal team ;)

I completely understand it's a great deal for you, you can pay the wage he wants easily. In the current situation Sanchez wasn't a help for us anymore.
