I like the fact that there's been more posters commenting about the Indian fans complaining about the world cup format rather than actual number of Indian fans complaining about the world cup format.

The above post really is a masterclass of selective reading.
You must admit that @Di Maria's angel is painting you(Indian Fans) in a really bad light. He's been nearly as funny as that Santi guy was in the F1 thread.

It was tight right to the end. India were undone by 2 extraordinary bits of fielding that should really be dominating the discussion.
I don't think that Dhoni would have won us the match even if Guptill hadn't run him out. The match was done when Jaddu was dismissed.

Question to indians, why does jadeja not play more often? Always does well with either the bat or ball when I see him play and fielding I'd always a bonus.

Honestly this is one of the stupidest arguments I've ever witnessed. You're embarrassing yourself here. Do you really fail to understand the significance of KO stages?
Are people ignoring the fecking fact that we played every team in the tournament and finished top? This format was shite and the KO stages are utterly pointless.

The whole idea of the KO stages is to bring together the best teams from different groups to face off. It didnt make sense here since all the teams had played each other.

Part of the reason is some weird obsession to prefer wrist spinners over finger spinners. Think @zing talked about this few pages back. Add to that, Chahal and Kuldeep have been regular wicket takers recently.

I'm not saying it's right though. As we've seen today the entire package that Jadeja brings is often better than a standalone spinner. He's a actual 3 dimensional player unlike the turd that got that title (Vijay Shankar).

The only thing that matters is how good you are on the day. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn’t matter how good you were before.

This holds true for football as well, which is why I like knockout competitions much more than league competitions. If you aren’t good enough to get a result on the day, then you don’t deserve anything, irrespective of what you did before.

Yeah like okay Vijay performed well against us but i was expecting jadeja to play instead. Can bat higher than 7 too.

Bit weird you guys spent two years prepping with two wrist spinners and dropped the idea after one bad match(england)

I also think the fact that none of our batters can even bowl part time and none of our bowlers can bat is another reason we have been trying to integrate players like Shankar. In fact @MJJ asks a valid question why couldn't the selectors show more trust in Jadeja. I for one have been very critical of Jadeja's batting but I will also say this had we actually groomed him properly as a batsmen and given him more opportunity he would have been an asset. This is where the selectors and Kohli have build this squad terribly. We need some batting all rounders, I am sure a country like India can easily produce some.

Some absolutely shocking man management decisions made by Kohli this tournament. Firstly he along with selectors picked Vijay Shankar and DK over Pant in the original squad . Explanation for DK given which made no sense was that his keeping was better than Rishabh. Then Rishabh gets into the squad & plays over DK as a pure batsman and finally they played DK as a pure batsman dropping Jadhav who had played virtually every Indian game over the last 2 years . I have still got no idea why Jadhav was dropped for DK but that is just classic Kohli captaincy, no one has a secure place apart from top 3 and Dhoni. Add to that the fact that Dhoni batted higher when you needed fast runs but batted lower today when you needed stability

I don't know if its the same video but these guys are clueless. They talked about how Pakistan made a bad decision dropping Malik

May as well add a knockout phase to PL. Man City face Chelsea and lose the PL based on one game having dominated the entire league.

It’s a World Cup mate, not a world league. Every significant football cup competition (WC, CL, Euros and all the euro equivalents around the world) consist of a group stage and a knockout stage.

The current tournament structure is good enough. A league phase where you collect points and build momentum and if you slip up you can recover. Followed by must win knockouts where if you lose you’re out, it tests your strength and character under different circumstances.

I’m very disappointed with what happened but there’s no way we can say India deserved to win the WC. In fact, whoever wins from here fully deserves it

Yes, but, as far as I know, no WC has one group.
