I can't believe a man touching a sign has caused this much hoo-ha.

Who feckin' cares.
I'm hoping it's not keeping anybody up at night, but I'm also not surprised it's rubbed people up the wrong way. I mean, seriously?! It obviously had no bearing on the result or performance, but what a weird thing to do.

He works his arse off, but I'll be very disappointed if he's starting tonight.

He is far from what we need at No 9. But if players like Antony passes more in the box, he would have added a few more goals.

Happy for him that he got a goal tonight.

Really happy for him and you could see how much it meant to him.

He might not be top tier quality but he loves playing for us and fights for everything. I said it before, but I’d happily take him as a back up striker / squad signing.

Pleased for him but a good striker walks off with the match ball. I’m not sure the work rate is worth the trade off.

Can only hope the goal gives him some confidence and he kicks on a bit

Says a lot that all the players were just as happy as he was that he bagged

Glad he got his goal and enjoyed that celebration. My opinion on him doesn't change though, and as I said previously it's not his fault.

But for the moment enjoy that goal, Wout.

I feel like people are too hard on Weghorst. He's obviously not a starter material for United, but he works his ass off every game, he takes the ball away constantly, he even has a good eye for passing. His finishing and acceleration are downright dogshit, but he was never meant to be a starter for us in the first place.

I feel like he does his job well and as a future reliable sub he's perfect.

He isn't good, but boy is he happy to play for us, and I was really happy for him when he scored as well. If only.

Clearly not the long term solution but as long as he keeps grafting it’s the very least he can offer. Got to laugh at some of the finishing or lack of runs but happy he got his goal.

Very pleased for him, manager and team appreciate what he brings to this squad currently so much. Yes, we can get a better player but, he is pulling on the famous red shirt right now and does everything he can to help this team towards their goals. It's 2.5 more months, just get behind him till then.

Why exactly is he a striker? He seems like he'd do fairly well in the midfield, but he's utterly inept up front. He's not a bad player as such, but in terms of being an actual striker, he's got to be the worst we've seen in a decade. He'd do quite nicely further back. Whoever scores the most goals for the youth team can probably do better as a striker than Weghorst does, though.

Under no circumstances should he be signed pernanently. There will be a new striker and probably a young backup in the Summer.

Fastest player on the pitch when the opposition have the ball, but a tractor when we have it  glad he scored.

Tbh I don't think anybody thinks it is, it's more a case of we don't have anybody else who can play there, and at least he's better for us than Ronaldo this season. So he plays of course. If Martial could stay fit, weghorst would go to the bench.

Has there ever been a player who is happier to be playing for United. Love the guy.

Falcao was much worse.

Lovely celebration, pleased for him.

I can’t tell if he’s had beyond bad luck in front of goal or he really is that bad with his finishing, but it has been borderline comical seeing all the different ways in which he’s been denied up until that goal.

Well the question is whether we would be better with Rashford up top and one of Sancho or Garnacho playing out wide. I don’t think he should be starting every game.

How would he do well as a midfielder? Just because he presses and has a good engine?

Good game. I don't think he's worth spending the money on in the summer but he's been a vital purchase. Gives his all as well.
