We’ve actually gotten nearly all our tough games out of the way, so our expected points total for the season looks extremely likely to eclipse any season from the previous incumbent, whilst having silverware on top.

Now for some more context, in his first season Ole/Phelan managed a lowly 66 points and no trophies, it was his second season he managed 74 points and as I say, I’ll put my house on ETH beating that by at least 3 points.
All that after last season is frankly incredIble.

That second season for Ole by the way, even got a lot of serious doubters on side. But he followed that up with an absolute clusterfeck of a season and got himself fired.

Basically the main point here, is that in his first season here, ETH looks set to eclipse Ole/Phelan best ever season here. That’s why they have more support.
If ETH was looking like replicating Ole/Phelan’s first season, with no trophies and a shite 66 points, he’d have much less backing.

ha ha, I gave it to myself looking up the numbers again.
The car crash end of the caretaker/honeymoon period, the shite 66 point no trophy first full season, the ok 74 point no trophy 2nd full season, and then that fecking car crash of a final season.
feck me.
All the while being preached to that Ole needed time and was actually doing a good job.

I swear ETH could win 3 cups and get 80 points and some will still say, “well he only finished 3rd, Ole finished 2nd”.

 nice work @mav_9me

@Wishe this reflects badly on your credibility
I love how people keep bringing up that quote, which was merely a test to prove my point. I was banned for posting that, while we had people calling our previous manager much worse without any moderation. So no it does not reflect badly on me, it actually demonstrates my previous point very nicely.

Do you have a degree in talking bollocks?

The words PE Teacher were actually banned from the caf, you simply couldn’t post it as the site software prevented it.
Everything was moderated, even something as mild as that.

You're entitled to your opinion.

But you also have to take into consideration that one is a coach (ten Hag) with a proven method when it comes to implementing a play style that correlates to the present day and Solskjaer had never demonstrated that before he was given the United job. So imo, it's understandable why many fans were sceptical of Solskjaer and are more than willing to back ten Hag due to his success at Ajax where he implemented a proactive attacking play style, which helped Ajax punch above it's weight against some of the biggest teams in Europe and caught the eye of the neutral.

Both Klopp and Guardiola inherited teams that were coached by predecessors who almost won the league or won the league in Pellegrini's case. So when you inherit a team that's been coached to play high intensity front foot football, like Liverpool and Man City were before Klopp and Guardiola arrived, then it makes life easier for a new coach to build upon foundations that are already ingrained within the collective unit.

Erik ten Hag on the other hand inherited a team that had been coached to play transitional football. And considering he's having to build the foundations himself, where he's attempting to develop a Manchester United team that plays proactive attacking football with a proactive off the ball pressing game, he's doing remarkably well considering the shit show of last season.

I have a lot of faith in Erik ten Hag and his ideals. And I'm more than confident he will match up with Klopp and Guardiola in the long-run, if he and the football department are backed with significant funds. And a extremely poor second half against Liverpool shouldn't overshadow the many good things that are developing at the club and on the pitch.

Imagine realising after getting done over by Mendez Liang on the final game of the season this was a mistake. Then having to support this car crash for a further 3 years.

Whilst being called deluded

I promise I’m over it:lol:

Can't agree more. And in fact, it didnt overshadow anything. We are still third in PL and still in 2 other competitions.

Absolutely!

I actually felt most confident about an Ole-led future at the end of the shite 66 point season. The signing of Bruno had kicked off a good run in which we played some really nice football and got to two semis. There were obvious weaknesses like being over dependent on one player and Ole’s iffy game management in knockout games, but I hoped that lessons were being learned.

Despite the better points total and actually getting to a final, it was obvious to me from the awful start of the second full season that it wasn’t going to get better and lessons weren’t being learned.

It was also obvious to me that Ed Woodward’s patronage was a key ingredient in the whole rotten mix, and while I wanted Ole gone I held out no hope of any significant change while Woodward was still calling the shots.

If we could manage to win another cup, I’ll be fecking ecstatic.
Imagine getting top 4 and two trophies in your first season....in the PL, especially being on 0 points in gameweek 3. That's just mad!

My lord, so he’s even trying to bullshit me now?

The comment about it not being a season he’d look back on fondly is stark raving bonkers.

Were we to finish 3rd (and looking very likely with the 2nd best points total since SAF retired), and win 2 trophies, after the clusterfeck of last season, at the start of a new era, that would be a brilliant season to look back upon extremely fondly.
And make no mistake, he does mention fond times of the no trophies, top 4 days of Ole’a tenure.
He seems a bit confused bless him!

Bruno situation is a bit baffling. How is he literally undroppable doesn't matter how bad he plays? Is it the case of "my (vice)captain shall always play"? Is it a clause in Bruno's contract he extended end of last season? Does Bruno have something on ETH? I can't understand how he is the only one in the team who is immune.

I would like to see Bruno subbed from time to time, especially when he is playing shite. You know, just like everyone else in the team.
Ah yeah he should be subbed if being poor but you said undroppable which suggests he shouldnt start. That would maybe nice if the alternatives were actually any good.

It isn’t, though, is it? Unless you’re a bit dim.

Bruno stays on the pitch because this team is largely shite at scoring goals, and Bruno is the best player we have in the squad to help overcome this. Hence the best opportunities we had all game came through him. Just like they always do.

This isn’t rocket science.

Simply has to call out Taylor today. The man literally can't get worse reffing us, we've won 1 in last 9 with him

Who would you play instead? Bruno is our only creative player on that pitch.

And how did he do today? Created another 2 big chances and had a shot saved that not all GKs would have.

Think the first sub was a mistake. Weghorst actually at least presses from the front and gives a outlet . Having both sancho & Antony on the pitch was pointless

He tried his best to win the game today with his subs, unlucky that Garnacho got hurt

Onwards to the next.

Is that true? That's staggering. Reminds me of our record when Atkinson was the ref, we averaged less than half our usual PPG with him over almost a decade.

He’s Atkinson’s one true heir. Used to hate that prick back in the day and his love for pleasuring the Stanford Bridge crowd

As soon as he took Wout off and left Sancho, I thought it would probably make our lives a bit harder. That and playing Sancho alone ahead for another 15 minutes or so. It is not only a weird sub, but a weird tactic too. Sancho would never break out of the line and get the ball ahead of anyone, and we were not camping in their box.

Should have started both Fred and Tommy, with Bruno out wide in the second half.

But there wasn't going to be any pressing as a team. Him individually pressing is pretty pointless.

Agree on Sancho and Antony being pointless.

Hope he has the sense to play Martinez in midfield in the next few league games.

Can just see him sending out Bruno and Fred out in a midfield two and losing all of them.

Ya, quite unbelievable. Has also never red carded an opponent in 38 games and on average gives united double the number of yellows over the 38 games he's referred. Taylor that is

The club has to grow a pair and put this out in the press. I know how it looks. I know it should be beneath us. But we need an edge, and if that helps, go for it.

This game was influenced by the referee.

Good, call out VAR and the ref. Absolute sh*te performance from them.

Very happy about Ten Hag's comments on the referee. He has been way too timid so far and he better starts whining about this shit like Klopp and Guaridola. At least he has plenty of reasons to whine unlike the latter two.

I also hope we appeal to send a message. I don't care if Casemiro gets banned for another 3 games. If we just leave this be, the red cards and blatant ref corruption will just continue.
