I've just watched the replay of Giroud's goal and I've never cringed so hard at a celebration before. You could see the other players, Ox in particular wanting to get the game restarted as quickly as possible while Giroud does his terrible preplanned celebration. It's obvious that he has been replaying his scorpion kick goal with his hand down his pants the past 2 days.

Sanchez

Wegner could steal all of Ty's food, furniture and money while leaving a pile of elephant crap in his house and Ty will still find a way to praise wegner.

That's the issue with Giroud. Yes he can score some key goals, but the problem is his mindset is quite Hollywood. When he was the undisputed starting striker for instance, he was spending 3am before match day in hotel room with a model. He should be doing that after a match he performed well like the best rather than before like a fool. Shows he is more focused on living like a 'star' than actually being the best he can be on the pitch. Giroud does well when he is second choice and has to fight his way in. When he is granted a starting role without merit he ultimately can't maintain the sustained discipline required to be a true top starter.

Its what separates Giroud from the top tier. Interesting contrast to someone like Icardi who seems to be able to maintain some constant chip on his shoulder which actually helps him on the pitch.

Given his quite phenomenal lack of pace, Giroud is doing remarkably well to be playing at the level he is.

And he is quite funny, :).

Wenger needs to hold on to players like Sanchez, bloody good hard working types. Giroud is a good footballer but a bit of a poser.

Sanchez is a goner. Can see him at Bayern or Chelsea now.

Yes he was furious after the last game. Plus he probably needs more in terms of wages. I think United would be willing to give him a meaty 250k per week. He's worth it.

Just don't see Wenger selling to Jose, but who knows!

What on earth was that celebration yesterday? They needed three points yet he pranced off in to the crowd with his Morcambe and Wise impression (?). I wonder what Wenger said to him after that, if anything.

I do believe that he wants trophies as well as money though. Arsenal can offer neither and I genuinely think under Mourinho we can.

Thing is - Bayern and Chelsea can too and he'd probably prefer one of them.

Wenger has said that the Giroud celebration made him smile & lauded the mental strength of his team <---- he does this after nearly every game, tbf.

hahah yeah man, he went on with a preplanned jig and it pissed Sanchez off. Some of the other players were scrambling for the ball to get back in play but he needed to bask in the moment.

He didn't say that did he?

well... 'smile' is the Mail interpretation - it was actually 'OG has great quality' or something, players showed 'resilience & strength' (Guardian).

and a bit of whingeing about the fixture schedule which the Telegraph reckons is jolly unfair & might have derailed the Title bid

Good lord Girouds celebration was stupid. I knew once they scored one that they would probably get a draw at least.

Wenger moaning about the fixture list is stupid as well, hasn't pretty much everyone had the same stupidly short turnaround time in between games? (Except Chelsea-they seem to have had all week off in my head for some reason).

There are never any actual quotes from Arsenal Mania in here - or is this the general Arsenal thread?

I had a look at their forum last night and what baffles me is that there are still lots of Wenger-In supporters.

Anyone with a brain can see that Wenger won't ever deliver another league title or CL because he is too stubborn and tactically inept over the long haul.

The best thing for Arsenal would be missing out on Top 4 this season, Wenger stepping down, a better manager taking over and drilling the team defensively for a season without European commitments to sidetrack them.

This current Arsenal setup from top to bottom is just a joke now amongst football fans across the land.

Oh god! Our fans already complaining about Preston's away. Play some first team->they run the risk of getting injured. Rest them->we run the risk of getting knocked out :wenger::lol::nervous:

Yeah complaining about team selection is 20/20 hindsight, but they're right that arsenal shouldn't have gone down 3-0 in the first place. I mean it's fecking bournemouth, they weren't playing at OT or ST or anfield ffs

Yeah Giroud's celebration was incredibly stupid. We had 4 minutes to try and get another, why waste an eighth of that prancing around. Despite his good work in the last 20 mins I hope he got an earful in the dressing room. Rambo too for spotting Daniels in acres of space prior to the first goal but choosing to ignore him in favour of a gentle jog back. Such an infuriating player, someone really needs to sit him down and explain he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

As for the fixture list, Wenger had every right to have a moan. Last night 3 teams had an extra 24 hours plus to recover from their previous fixtures compared to their opponents. Of those teams, Stoke and Swansea both won and Bournemouth were 3-0 up with 20 minutes to go. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Liverpool & City both had sub 48 hours recovery time before they played on the 2nd (which is nuts) but at least they were up against teams who had a similar recovery period (50 hours or so). United and Wham were both in the same boat in terms of recovery though your lot also had the bonus of Mike Dean's early intervention. Chelsea and Spurs were extremely fortunate with their schedules, the former especially so. Compare Chelsea's schedule with Southampton's - absolute pisstake.

It may be that Sky and BT ultimately decide these schedules and that it's impossible for parity across the board but the FA (or PFA if they have any kind of power) should be a little more forceful in ensuring at least a minimum break of 72 hours for teams during this period. I just don't see how clubs can be expected to perform to a high level with such short turnarounds.

Looking at next years planned fixtures I think premier league teams are going to have either promote a lot of youth players or buy another 11 just to get through them. 6 fixtures to be played in around 16 - 18 days. Utterly berserk.

Many people justifies Giroud celebration because it's only a couple of seconds, but I think it's not about the time spent on that celebration, it's about the mentality, you can see Sanchez and Chamberlain getting furious with him, and that's not good for the team, a draw can tell a lot about a team condition, when a team have a draw and they celebrate, you know it's a hard match and they feel draw is a good result, but last night only Giroud and Gabriel celebrate after the goal, you can see the other tried to pull those two back to start the game as soon as possible, and that shows different mentality or mindset within the team, I would have understand if they faced Chelsea or Liverpool, but it's Bournemouth

If Barca/Bayern/Real/Chelsea went 3-0 down and have a comeback in injury time against mid-table team, you know every player in the team will not have a celebration like that, they all will just run back to their own half, trying to start the game as soon as possible, and that shows mental strength, the believe that the game is not over yet and a win is reachable, but you see Giroud and Gabriel doing that thing and you wonder what their teammates think about them now

Its a crazy idea, and next season looks almost as daft. Chelsea did seem to be the fortunate ones this year thanks to the wizardry of the TV gods. I agree fully, you cant expect teams that play 2 games within 72 hours to provide much of a spectacle, and could lead to more injuries etc.

I found this rather amusing:

Ramsey slated
GettyImages-514346996.jpg

Ramsey !Ramsey !Ramsey! Why is he still at the club let alone starting or playing at all?

Ok Bellerin had his worse game ever, then there is Xhaka who just showed why he can’t be trusted with constant rash decisions. Then there is Cech who has no reason to be number one. Generally the worst we have played all season but my word Ramsey is suppose to be five star player, he was played in his favourite position and a two year old would have done better than him yesterday!

He has no business on the bench let alone the team and just like Wenger we would never win anything of significance as long as Ramsey is in the team. Complete and utter useless player. He is a fraud of a player and has no place in any top team. Waste of space, garbage, useless, complete trash.

Jeff Adelaide would have done better than Ramsey and perhaps we would have won with him and Iwobi changing position upfront.

nah, coming from 3-0 down to level it 3-3 you're going to celebrate it, we would have celebrated it. It's a great comeback. After the match they'll think its points lost, but at that moment you've snatched a point from nothing.
4 minutes left against 10 men. His team-mates were shouting for him to move back and he was doing a daft celebration.

This whole celebration discussion has reminded me of one of my favourite United moment. Ronaldo had just coolly slotted home a penalty, celebrated it with barely a shrug with his team mates running back towards the centre circle because there's a game to be won. Look at Rooney, scrambling to get the ball and Rio, telling his team mates to get back. Good times.

Hargreaves brilliant freekick after that just felt inevitable.

Anderson giving the death stares to the keepers for those freekicks

Arsenal can offer as much money as any other proper football club.

You don't even need to go that far back. Look at Martial's equalizer against Middlesbrough.

They can't offer him 200k a week, which is what we or PSG would offer him. Not sure about the Bayern/Chelsea flexibility but I can see Abramovic pushing the boat out for him more than Gazidi's currently are.

They recently said they can't afford mammoth bids for example, whereas Chelsea apparently offered a sizeable sum for Pogba a year ago.

Sanchez deserves far better. He has a real winning mentality that just doesn't align with that of the other players at the club as well as the manager. He should be at one of the best clubs in Europe and competing for all honours, without question. After recently turning 28, he'll be on the decline before you know it and it'd be a shame for him to spend the rest of his best years at Arsenal where the ending is always so predictable. If I was him I'd use the leverage over his contract to get out of there. He'd have a million clubs interested, would probably end up at Chelsea.

Financially, Arsenal can easily afford to give Sanchez 200K a week if they wanted. Its more the subjective wage model that holds back the board. They have been overpaying squad players and complete dross for years. Just sell Oxlade-Chamberlain and you already have plenty to pay Sanchez 250K a week if they wanted. Its the 'philosophy' of overpaying mediocre squad players and underpaying the super stars that's holding back the board from being more ruthless and practical. Arsenal has long been famous for a socialist wage structure and even though thats been somewhat broken, its specter remains to haunt us gooners.

I still cant understand what the feck kind of defending and Goal keeping that was for the first goal. Dear me

When you have a player so much better than his teammates (Sanchez) - you just don't argue about money. Arsenal should praise the lord that he can be bothered to play for them.

Yeah, I was more eluding to a lack of will rather than ability - should have worded it better in hindsight.
