Nice. Rain lost us IMO. doesn't excuse the poor fielding at the end tho

That wasn't a choke. NZ have been the best team in this tournament so far and McCullum set the platform at the start.

Edit: And yeah the shit fielding.

Didn't have the bottle in that last two overs SA... enough catch and run-out opportunities for them.

Balls. :(

Unlucky SA, think people are being a bit harsh calling this choking. Great game for the neutral, shame about the rain but both teams had their chances heading into the final overs.

Agreed. This wasn't choking at all. Game could have gone either way and both teams had their hilarious moments in the field.

Hope Kiwis go all the way now. Terrific side & have played superbly throughout the tournament. NZ-Aussie final please!

One issue may be that the final is the first time they'll be playing in Aussie conditions. All other games have been in NZ. Will be interesting how they contend with the bigger grounds.

This was not choking but runout misses on key moments cost them in the end. That said, NZ dropped catches too earlier.

Not sure what Duminy did charging in like that. Some terrible terrible fielding, missed catches and run out opporunties in those last two overs. South Africa just couldnt hold their bottle there when it mattered, something they are normally good at.

SA threw it away from a good position. IMO, despite the rain, game was theirs to lose and they did.

Anyway, Congrats NZ. Batted well.

Dropping catches and missing run outs at important stages from a team that thrive on their fielding. What would you call it?

I can't think of a better one day world cup innings than that. Absolute top drawer from Elliot.

Delighted for them!

Calling them chokers for this performance is just being lazy. They absolutely gave it all and pushed NZ all the way. Unlike their previous performances, they didn't bottle this - NZ just held their nerves better I think. Both teams had their bad moments in the field - NZ dropped a couple catches too.

Exactly. These weren't 50-50 chances, these were decent chances but in high pressure situations. When you don't take those, you get called the C word.
