Pique just landed a 4 games ban.

Barca shouldn't appeal, instead they should throw a massive fine on pique. I understand when a player gets a red for a mistimed tackle, but when you go out of your way to do something completely unnecessary and stupid like insulting a ref, you should pay for with your own money. Only in football people keep getting paid after pulling a stunt like this one.
Denied saying the words reported, consequently barca will appeal.

Real Betis V Villarreal 21:30

Monday 24th August 2015
Granada CF V Eibar 19:30

It's not hard to spot that the game of the weekend ought to be Athletic Vs Barcelona. Athletic will be buoyant after their Supercopa win (that included the 4-0 at the new San Mames). Barca will be looking for revenge. However, between Monday's Supercopa second leg and Sunday's Liga match, Athletic had a match to play in the Europa. They rested 8 of their Supercopa starters, were leading 0-2 at HT, but went on to lose 3-2 on the night. We wait and see.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be hoping someone has worked out how to score.

Atletico will be rolling out their new, improved?, version.

My personal "most intriguing" game of the weekend is Betis - Villareal. Betis have celebrated promotion by signing what looks like a new team. Villareal have signed 7 players including Soldado, but they sold Vietto, so that doesn't really look like an upgrade.

Krychowiak continues to play in defense. Sevilla's bench looks very strong.

Malaga with most of the possession. Sevilla mostly playing on the counter.

As expected, sevilla playing awful and even then creating two great chances that Gameiro missed. Will never understand managers when they sacrifice their best DM so they can put him on centerback position where he is just average. Even if you dont have a decent defender it makes more sense that you go with below average cb and great DM than to go with 2 average players on both positions, specially in the game where you are a much better team.

I have money for both teams to score, that looking likely or not?

Lol N'Zonzi. Not the best way to make your debut.
what an idiot....never mind the red card, he was awful the whole game. Decent player but not for possession based team.

Yeah didn't look good at all. Made a couple of poor challenges even before the sending off. He's a good player though. Will take some time to adjust.

Selfish from Amrabat. Sevilla were caught on the counter. Might come to regret that.

Tiempo de Juego is saying that Madrid will buy Ceballos , later will go on loan, but apparently Betis is disappointed with him and won´t accept a loan during this year. Odegaard stays in Castilla and Sporting has got Halilovic. I wonder if he´ll be against Madrid. Deportivo has got Jonathan Gutierrez, on loan from Benfica, our "top" striker

Yes, it is quite surprising but great. Madrid is making a restructuring of the academy. They have eliminated Madrid C and have signed Victor Fernandez , who was coach of Deportivo last year, to organize it. An odd decision because he was not a good scout when he was coach. Only four players from Madric C are still in the club, and one of them is Enzo Zidane, who has been named captain

Lemme guess Enzo isn't very good and has the captaincy because some strings were pulled, and not from his dad playing midfield. Obviously.

Looking forward to watching Atletico again. Oliver Torres and Koke playing as wide playmakers with Gabi and Tiago in the middle and Jackson upfront alongside Griezmann.

Familiar looking Atleti side, apart from Oliver starting and Jackson Martinez up top. Filipe too, but he was there before so should just slot right in. Vietto and Correa to hopefully get some time on the pitch later.

Atletico seem to have much more depth now. Vietto and Carrasco not even playing.

Some good stuff from Atletico near the end of the first half with Oliver and Griezmann in the midst of it all.

Oliver has quite some talent. Seems like a player Barcelona would buy ASAP.

How long until Griezmann leaves Atletico? Koke has stuck around after all, is Griezmann one of those guys who is gonna remain loyal to the club or is he gonna leave at some point? He sure has the ability to perform at any club in the world.

Yeah I think we might get prettier football from them this season.
Hope so.

I can see him leaving in 2 seasons time. Koke is an Atletico product so he's different. Griezmann has a bumper release clause though so they'll make good money. By that time Correa will be ready for first team, immense talent. Vietto himself is only 21. Atletico should continue to remain competitive.
