Bale always goes hiding against Atletico. He wouldn't have made any difference. Atletico were also missing Carrasco who has been on form this year.

It's great to have Atletico doing what they do under Simeone as it shows defending is an art. Their players are fine-tuned and on the same wavelength which is a manifestation of what goes on in training.

Atletico were superb. They're probably the best coached team around right now. Reduced a team littered with attacking talent to just a couple of chances. And they were really good on the ball too, for me. Felipe Luis is a beast of a left back. I have no idea why he didn't succeed at Chelsea. Griezmann carried their attackcs effortlessly. But the one that surprised me was Saul. You can see why we were interested. Has a bit of everything to his game. Energy, tackling and skill too.
He just never got a proper chance. He's much better than Ivanovic.

Mourinho insisted on playing Ivanovic so he had to play him on the right which means Azpilicueta, who is a RB, played LB. Azpi has been consistent so it would have been unfair to drop him. Ivanovic was terrible this year under Jose and second half of last season. Ideally it would be Azpi right and Felipe left.
If they're injured then you have to use them, and no other top level player will sign for Madrid knowing that he has to eat bench even when Cristiano plays like shit.

I think that the message is for the club, for the medical service and for the long preseason in Australia and China, according to the players the reason of the injuries, but the "I don´t want to underestimate my team mates but..." , he is an idiot, he is underestimating Jesé, Vázquez and Kovacic, those that probably will have to lie ten minutes later saying that he is the best in the world, playing in a system adapted to him.

From the interview i read, that statement was about the performance. He later also talks about the injuries. But that statement really is what it looks like. He was definitely talking about the performance when he said if everyone was at his level. I have not seen the video so i reserve the right to change my opinion.
