Not going to get into a discussion in this thread right now. A 34 year old moving from probably the slowest and least competitive of the major European leagues to the fastest/most competitive.
That's a different point entirely, but let's not go comparing a guy who's just scored 50 goals in the French league to a guy who scored 2 in the same league.

Amazing news!

Some people laugh about Zlatan being 34 (or Vardy 29)... But they are in good form and that's what some teams need. We already have talented young strikers in Rashford and Martial. Ibra offers something different. He could have good and average games for us, but overall, he is a fantastic signing. Now, I hope we sign 3 more quality players (CB, CM and RW) so we can be a force again.

Really seems the Glazers have abandoned their strategy of only signing players in or before their prime years with resale value. Even if he can't run that much, he'll score free kicks and penalties with how good Martial and Rashford are at winning them. I know he doesn't score many headers but Mourinho could use him like he did with Drogba in his latter years, his height will be useful for defending set pieces if we put him on to see out a game we're leading.
Yeah that happened about 4 years ago since then we've signed, Van Persie, Falcao, Valdes, Schweinsteiger.

Falcao is an easy story: very harsh injury in January 2014, 6 months out and no World Cup. A broken player if your prefer.

I am just saying our muppet signings over the last two years - Di Maria, Falcao and Schweinsteiger - have all failed to impress. I hope Zlatan bucks the trend, I really do, I just dont share the blind faith that the majority of the Caf tends to have in situations like this.
Di Maria hated Van Gaal, plus was often too physically weak. The other two have history of injury problems, plus surgery. Zlatan has no such issues.

Can't wait for Zlatan to prove all the doubters wrong. Obviously don't know much about him as a player.

I've got to ask.. Why are people taking this as oath?

Sky sources have been slated on here as of late haven't they? And it's only sky reporting it. Nothing on BBC etc..

9 in the league. And come on, he had a serious injury, Zlatan is as fit as ever
Falcao wasn't good before his injury. I always assumed that he wasn't motivated though.

that's still a 1 in 4 record in the big games. And he was always considered to have a poor record v English teams.

I wonder how our other strikers over time compared in the big games.
Our current forwards:

Career goals for all three, so Martial has the two games against Arsenal for Monaco added and Rooney has his games against the respective sides for Everton.

That's kind of his point.
You're right, I misread it completely

@Regulus Arcturus Black I missed the point, sorry! Although you're wrong regarding 9/2 goals. He scored 2 goals in 3 games in August of 2014/15 before moving to us at September the 1st. He scored 9 goals in his last full season in France.

If Giroud can get 20 goals. I have no doubts that Ibrahimovic can score as many considering he is technically miles better.

No more putting Fellaini up from because he is tall. We have a tall striker, who is technically good.

A high profile crock that had scored 11 goals in his "full" season in France, followed by a crock season and 2 goals. Not any comparison whatsoever. Just lazy.
Wasn't making any comparison whatsoever, I'm using Falcao as an example of a high profile striker that was shit for us. Ibra could go that way as could Messi or anyone else. It was more as a direct contrast to the impact Van Persie had for us, and it is very possible Ibra could have a similar impact.

Watching the video of his goals this season, it's interesting how often he ensures he strikes the ball downwards into the ground. Makes it look like scruffy finishing but I'd suspect it's a conscious decision to make sure he's hitting the target instead of skying over.

As said, he 'should' be perfectly suited for the Premiership. He's a very strong player who thrives on half chances. I hope he's in a side that can give him those at least.

As a player he has always been great. As a person, he has matured with age. I am very happy about this. Martial and Rashford will thrive next to him.

Di Maria didn't get on with Van Gaal and wasn't suited for his football
Falcao and Schweinsteiger both have had injury issues when coming

Lazy to compare the signings like that just because they are big names

Yeah but Falcao was already shit before coming here, the chances with Messi and Zlatan being a success next season are much greater because as with RVP when he joined us, they are currently at the top of their games. Falcao was simply blind hope that he would "rediscover" something he'd so obviously lost.

Don't see why that'll be an issue. The Philosophy is over.

A journalist at the Irish Independent did tweet earlier that there was going to be a bigger transfer story later than the Vardy story. I presumed it was going to be some shite that some other idiot journalist had joined the paper but it suggests that this isn't just Sky being crap as they often are.
If he had something surely he'd tweet it instead of tweeting that there'll be a bigger story than Vardy?
