It's a thin difference. Kroos wasn't for sale and perhaps dont want to come here. Even if he wants to he wont come cheap and it'll be another pogba fee.

It's not that simple of who we want, but who wants us who we can afford and whose available
It's too late now but in May-early June, I would have gone for Kovacic and Krychowiak or Pjanic and Krychowiak.

Bayern turned down a "world record" bid for Müller, so I guess they would knock back 120 for Kroos too.
He plays for Madrid though.

I personally would prefer Pogba.

Kovacic kruchoowoworjr or pjanic aren't as good as pogba. They're not ready yet. What's wrong with buying a better player, a more proven player?

Seriously. We're buying a world's best midfielder (top 5 at least), why cant you be happy for a change?

You're one of those who complains that we're replacing ronaldo with valencia aren't you?

Well said. I would say the last time we signed a proper world class player who was good enough to play for any top side in the world was Di Maria. It's easy to forget him because he was underwhelming and left on a bad note but there's no denying he was a world class player when we signed him.
Imagine how fecking amazing our attack would look right now with Di Maria on the right, Martial on the left and our 3-4 summer signings playing as well.

Bloody Van Gaal!!

Pogba is so much better than Kroos and that's without even thinking about the fact that pogba is much more of a midfielder that we need compared to Kroos.

I can't help thinking that people who constantly say they want Kroos have not seen him play to much ... He is really overrated and would do very little to improve our midfield .

Schweinstiger in his prime is at least ten times better than Kroos will ever be.. Yes he can do the simple stuff and given time and space pick the odd through ball ala Carrick but a game changer he is not

No. Kroos and Verratti are in a league of their own as far as young midfielders are concerned. I am looking forward to seeing what Pogba can do but let's not inflate his achievements.

Don't need Damien for that. You can find it under thread tools above to the right of the first post on the page.
Wow, that makes for depressing reading. Sad thing is they probably feel they've achieved something!

Wonder how many of those posts repeat the same thing over and over? Thankfully the end is in sight.

I must have missed something, they were banging on about £120M on Talkshite earlier too.

When did the fee go up from £93M (€110M) to £120M?
You round up to £100m then convert it to €120m and convert back to £120m

It's a nice saga this one, for me, because he's not someone I'm personally that desperate for us to sign, but he is clearly a stunningly good player who it would be great to watch in a United shirt. So if we get him, great, I'll be chuffed. If we don't, we'll just have saved £100m+. And Herrera will get more game time (fanboi4eva etc).

Kroos is 26. Not sure he's in the "young midfielder" bracket anymore.

You see that's the problem that I have with you, you can't understand that debatting doesn't mean that I'm unhappy, I like Pogba and I'm glad that we are after him but it doesn't mean that I can't look at other options and wonder if the team can be improved with a different transfer window.
Personally I think that Krychowiak is the midfielder that we lack, someone that brings a lot of physicality in midfield and can switch the play with long passes, someone who is defensively sound and gives a lot of freedom to his teammates, Pjanic would have been our creative hub.

Now, if you don't rate them and think that these two players will provide less than Pogba, fair enough.

Kroos will be 27 next season. Hardly young.
Verratti has been nothing but potential for a while now. He's suffered from PSG underachieving in Europe and not stamping his authority on the national side. I don't think favourably comparing Pogba's achievements to Verratti's is anything close to inflation.
Also this forum has a terrible habit of lumping all midfielders into one category as if they're one in the same.

Herrera is crap. People need to realise.

Because my shit doesn't conform to the group think going on here, the herd mentality of all the guys talking about getting their cocks out and jizzing themselves over Paul Pogba? Yeah. You're right. My views on this transfer are very annoying for folks like that.
Yeah that's right. Muppets are very sensitive from June to end of August.

Kroos over Pogba? Kroos is an attacking midfielder whether Pogba is a box to box player. Pogba is younger, much more marketable, much more suitable for our needs and has more potential then Kroos. Can anyone see Kroos being a future Baloon Do'r winner? No. Can't say that about Pogba who hasn't even peaked yet.

Plus Pogba is physically much more suited to succeed in the PL.
