Personally I like Rangnick's pragmatism here. Might as well get a tune out of him even if he is leaving. He should bring his best form if he's looking for a contract elsewhere and we need all the help we can get at the moment.

Yeah I agree, also it means he can try him out in his new formation which can only help to give him a better understanding of the midfield reshuffle needed in the summer. Leave sentiment aside here, we need to do whatever is best for us to figure out how to best to improve the team. (I'm in the feck PP camp as well by the way)

Jeez RR basically said it doesn't matter that our long term goals may be different if our short term goals are the same. Logic over sentiment.

Have you ever had a colleague you don't personally like but is useful to the job? Treat it like that and don't moan because RR doesn't despise all the players you despise.
It's not like there's long term benefit from sidelining him anyway. If we want to play 3 in midfield we're short of numbers so we need him.

Best case scenario for us. We cannot afford to give him stupid money considering he hasn't performed consistently with us + he's been too injured.

If he performs well, let's use him to get top 4 (and a trophy hopefully) and if he doesn't he can sit next to Donny on the bench

In England, the worst he had to endure was some TV jibes from Souness. In Madrid, the fans are going to be brutal to him for his inconsistency.

Good bye and good riddance though. Always a show pony and never a workhorse.

Don't blame him really. He's at his prime, he wants to win trophies, we're not doing that any time soon.

Good luck to him at Madrid if that's what happens, hopefully he gives us a decent few months before he goes. Shame we didn't develop the midfield while he was here.

Was it really worth pricing him out of a move in the summer you wonder. If we'd have said 30 million clubs would have jumped at the chance.

We could have got a proper midfielder in on lower wages but no we get Pogba for half a season if we're lucky. He'll need to drag us to top 4 for it to have been worth it really.

Madrid set up is perfect for him. they actually have a functioning midfield that he can just slot straight into. plus he'll get to play with Mbappe.

Until I see him holding the Madrid shirt I won't believe it. Would be a massive step in the right direction to get rid of him.

Shame . Would have preferred him to stay but we aren't exactly flying at the moment.

If the report is actually true, then you're naïve not to think he hasn't already struck a verbal agreement with Madrid on the sly - that's how these things happen nowadays. Madrid will love to have him, this is no come and get me plea.

I mean he is on a free transfer in the summer so why would he need to be sly about it? Players are allowed to agree terms in the final 6 months.

This is actually a come get me plea because Real are focused on getting Mbappe and Haaland.

Shame we are clueless in contract renegotiations but it’s probably for the best that both parties move on. We will need to move on because we’ve all sen how absolutely tumescent our midfield is without Pogba. We’ve also had zero consistent players since sir Alex retired and celebrate decent performances in 2-2 draws with Villa as if they are great.

I think this is positive as it finally makes the position clear and allows us to plan going forward

Plus he either justifies his place in the team or gets benched. In normal World Cup years he would be highly motivated to put in top performances but he may just give the occasional teaser. I really do not care. Wrote him off months ago. Almost forgotten he was there.

Slower paced football, a proper midfield already in place and Vinicious and Mbappe to feed, feels almost too perfect for him

We bought him to be the star, but in the end he was just a sideshow.

Will do great at Madrid as the stars are clearly others.

Madrid have shut down going for him.

They're focused on Mbappe and Haaland.

Pogba doesn't start for Madrid either, Kroos and Modric are still fit and in superb form (still better than Pogba too) and Casemiro is their midfield 3.

On his day he is my favorite player in the squad. Since he's been here, taking away his price tag, he has been one of our best players (not saying much). Growing up being a fan of Ronaldinho, watching him play was fun and pogba is the only player in the united team since Ronaldo and Nani (yup, I loved Nani) who gives me that feeling, so on that level I'll miss him.

Regards to him and Raiola, we've seen people around players mouthing off before from Ronaldo (slavery comments), rooney (city debacle, which when you think about it is a bigger disrespect in my eyes), but in general I don't think Pogba has ever downed tools or can be accused of not giving 100%. He's had bad games, generally when the whole team has had bad games so it is what it is.

In the end, he came, won some minor trophies and will be gone. In context, when compared to our star signings since fergie left (Bruno, Sancho, Martial, Mhki, Lukaku, Zlatan, Mata, Depay) Only Bruno has had a better time here. Whilst I don't think it says a lot about pogba, I think it says a lot about all the other players that have been and currently are at United.

To be honest, knowing that Jesse is not playing because he wants to leave, same for Martial, I would say that this guy should not play again, or at least not being a starter.

I'd be happy for him to sit on the bench or in the stands, but don't want him starting even if we miss top 4 (which is very likely).

I can't stand this guy anymore.

No surprise really is it? He hasn't wanted to be here for the majority of the time he's been here. If he's professional, trains well and wants to play then he should get the chance, and that goes for all the wantaways. It's the moaning and the talking shit that's not helping. Just perform and get yourself a move instead, be a professional about it.

These type of comments are absolutely pathetic. So you'd rather the team do badly, miss on Champions league football next season (which would have massive consequences) rather than play Pogba? And you call yourself a Manchester United fan?

Yeah but there's upside to letting other players get more time. Of course he's demonstrably more talented than alternatives but there's evidence from earlier this season that playing him doesn't necessarily increase our odds of finishing top 4.

If you add up all his injury layoffs he's now missed the equivalent of two full seasons of football. Quite staggering that we still have some who want him to stay.

Not only is he over rated and not worth the big money, he's not reliable fitness wise either.

He could have been a world beater but he doesn't have the heart and drive to be one.

Rangnick basically answers the question that a lot of people have asked here: should we be playing him if he's leaving in the summer?

“Yes, of course. I also played Nemanja Matic in the last games, and his contract is also expiring. By the way, my contract as the manager is also expiring in the summer, so for us we have the same goal. We have the same ambition to be as successful as we can possibly be in the next three or four months. For me, it’s not a question if a player has an expiring contract. The question is: how much does he still want to be part of this group? How much does he still feel emotionally and physically on board? As long as this is the case, why should Paul Pogba, now, after two and a half months of injury, being fully fit again [not play]? He wants to show the fans of Manchester United, the board, the whole world, what kind of player he can be. Even if it’s for only showing up for a new contract elsewhere, he will be highly motivated to do that, so why should I then not play him? But as I said, there is a difference of: how do players deal with their current situation? How do they handle that? If they handle that in a professional way, in an ambitious way, of course I can and will play players, although they have a contract expiring in the summer.”

Very intelligent response
What? Matic's contract expires in 2023.
