Those comparisons annoy me. We're not paying Everton £26 million each year, so if you break the fee down to a per-year thing we pay somewhere around £2-3 million a year for Rooney. Plus it does not take into account wages, which really should be if you're working out a striker's total cost per goal. Seems a bit of a pointless way of doing things to me
I included the money side of it because it's funny, not to make a serious point about goals scored per million.

Lemmy has forsaken us....
That would be Arsenal actually after Sundays result. Liverpool 26 points, Arsenal 27.
Of course if we beat them next weekend, we can go back to the top of the 2015 calendar year league table, that does not exist, nor is there a trophy for - which is a shame because we are the defending champs!
They'll do anything for a parade....

It's the start of season optimism that always kills you

Hard not to look past City & Chelsea fighting for the top 2 slots again. Such quality & depth in their squads. Chelsea only finished 2pts off 2nd & 4pts off first so the margins were pretty fine between them, City and ourselves. Even Arsenal were only a further 3 pts back to round out the top 4. You can't look further than these teams for a champion this year, the chasing pack will are just too far off squad-wise to make the jump.
Man Utd will need to adapt to a new style of play, again. I think they will struggle another season but be competitive again in a year.

Arsenal looks good on paper, as always, but with their injury record we will never see anything resembling their first 11.

It's gonna be a fun season.
That's where I think a lot of next season will be decided- head to head.
United would seem the worst of all in that respect and I think that might just hurt them.

That United squad will be tested and if its a case of winning games against the rest, I can see them faltering more than us or any of the other three- Chelsea, Arsenal and City(obviously). They've got a new manager- new ways of doing things and some of the players need to get used to the system, so their in transition.

Our ability to score goals and fashion chances are without question, so we're definitely ahead of United in that respect. It's our defense that will hopefully improve that will decide our fate.

On there I found a thread called "RAWK goes into meltdown" . . . . and guess what, I'm famous haha.

Haha, saw that one as well. He is a weird case, guy supports newcastle but was annoyed by Cantona winding up the pool fans there. Johnno supports United but has nothing good to say about thiss United side but is all praise for pool. Where do they find these guys?

I'm sure the chief exec would say the same about Liverpool if asked about it. Because LFC and MUFC are, and hopefully will always be, the 2 most storied and beloved "brands" in their "corporation", and so it is in their best interests for both us and them to be strong. Not that they want the others to be weak. But that they want us to be strong because we are such a strong and beloved part of their brand. So if there was any cheating going on, it would be to get both of us inside the top 4.

However sadly only 4 teams can get in the top 4.
I never cease to be amazed at the blind delusion some of them consistently come out with. it is actually very, very impressive and only comes from THAT football club

In the Premier League, Ronaldo used to annihilate the 6-20 teams and then look crap in comparison every time a big game came around. He was labelled a big game bottler for years because of this. Not that it mattered as he got a league title winners medal almost every season.

I´m not saying we need someone of Ronaldo´s quality here, before that gets twisted, merely pointing out that players that smash those mid-lower level teams are very valuable. to be honest - I had hoped Lambert or Baloteli would become that kind of player. Someone who would score regularly against those sides in the league while Sturridge was rested for the CL
Ronaldo. labelled a big game bottler, for years. Remember that?

I still have no idea why people would want to post on a forum of a football club they don't support.

Apparently Lovren was the third best CB in the league last year, just behind Kompany and Skrtel. Hmmmm.

From that Liverpool FC forum linked above.

That's an absolutely terrible idea. Unless the aim is to completely devalue the CL.
It wouldn't even work. Firstly that wouldn't be scrapping the EL, it would just be combined with the CL. Which is an awful idea.

And how does it help them win things? If you need your league to have 8 CL places to qualify, then you're not going to win that competition anyway. If he's talking about the league, then how does trying to win the league stop you from finishing in the top 4? I can only imagine he's talking about the cups. And European football is unlikely to be ruined so Liverpool can field a full strength aide against Championship opposition so they can win the League cup.

I see the issue here, you're trying to use standard logic, not dipper logic.

Whenever something happens where they cry conspiracy, particularly with United they always start making random threats about what they should do to make a stand, such as not releasing their players for the internationals or devaluing competitions.

Or as previously mentioned buy a giant projector and project a gif of Rooney "hacking down Mignolet" onto the FA headquarters on repeat. That'll show 'em.

I enjoyed Rodgers blaming Hodgson for injuring Sturridge and giving him a public lesson on fast twitch fibre players and how to treat them. For sturridge to recover and suffer a longer lay off due to Liverpool training. That was like, ironic

They are top of the 2015 league table, Rob. Who needs the August-May league when you can be top of the January to March league? If there weren't a massive conspiracy the league would run in the calendar year, and then everyone would see that Liverpool were the best. If there weren't a conspiracy, shots that hit the post/bar would count as goals, or the goals would be bigger, and then everyone would see that Liverpool were the best. If there weren't a conspiracy, finishing 8th would be rightfully rewarded with a CL spot, and then Liverpool would win the CL with ease. Everyone knows the only reason Liverpool didn't win the CL, and only managed to win one group game, at home, with a late penalty, against some dodgy Bulgarian side, is because Brendan Rodgers, being the tactical master he is, had to concentrate on the league so that they could get into the top 4 to again qualify for a CL that they weren't going to win because they'd have to focus on finishing top 4 to qualify for the CL. Again.

And it's clearly a massive conspiracy that Skrtel got banned for an obvious stamp on De Gea when Rooney didn't even get a ban for being pushed, by Skrtel, into Mignolet. Also, how do you explain that Herrera, who's Spanish, got stamped on by Gerrard, who isn't Spanish, and then De Gea, who's also Spanish, got 'stamped' on by Skrtel, who isn't Spanish, and Mata, who's also Spanish, scored both goals that made Liverpool, who aren't Spanish, lose, are all Spanish? And that Sterling, who isn't Spanish, might move to Real Madrid, who are Spanish? And that Sanchez, who moved from Barca, who are Spanish, chose not to go to Liverpool, who aren't Spanish, but chose to go to Arsenal, who are managed by a Frenchman, which is exactly what Michel Platini, head of UEFA is? And then how do you explain that Liverpool, greatest side in European history, get knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the group stage? And how do you explain that Sir Alex Ferguson, the perpetrator of this conspiracy, is an anagram of "Señor Fix Resulag" which is almost "Señor Fix Results" which is clearly what he is called in, you guessed it, Spain. His name literally tells us that he fixes results, and no one does anything about it.
