My only defence for Sanchez is the way I see a January signing. I see the first six months as bedding in, getting used to the club and then hit the following season hard, playing well. So, in a way his form is a little bit understandable, even if he should be doing better. I'm willing to give him the chance to improve. If he can't be better than he was for Arsenal or at least a similar level next season, then serious questions would have to be asked.
However, what I can't defend is where he is playing. Rashford & Martial have, for the most-part, been better than they've ever been before this season, playing from the left. I said when we originally signed Sanchez that he should go and make the right forward position his own. He's a top talent, so why can't he go and play there? He is simply not doing enough to displace players who are playing well in a position, just because it's apparently his best position I don't mind seeing him at no.10 in some games, but the lack of a proper right forward / winger hurts us because Mata & Lingard are not it. I think Sanchez would be better than anyone else we have for that role, so why isn't it being tried in it?
