Bolt. Unbeatable.Bolt or Phelps?
Difficult to compare but I'm jut glad to witness them both at their peak. Two of the greatest to ever do it.

Yeah I know but you what I mean lolHe already has the best time ever. 9.58 he got in 2009 in his prime. We're not seeing that beaten for a very, very long time.
Both are amazing, but Phelps probably edges it for me just for the sheer number of medals he hasBolt or Phelps?

Yes, that was a class raceEverybody (bar Powell who got hurt) was sub-10 right? That was a mad race.
Yeah but if Usain had to run backwards or hop on one leg he'd have 23 gold medals too, probably. Both are amazing, but Phelps probably edges it for me just for the sheer number of medals he has
I don't know what's worse, you sat there at home drinking tins of Stella on a Sunday with work in the morning, or the late night bar scenarioMy local Sainsburys does pint cans of Stella. I may be over-egging it
If he is always proven to be clean that'll be enough. It's one of those things where his legend is going to become even more hyped because people think he never went all out, so speculation will always be rife about his 'real' ceiling.
That would be fun to watchYeah but if Usain had to run backwards or hop on one leg he'd have 23 gold medals too, probably.
I think he mightve shaved another few 100ths of a second off that time, but the fact there was absolutely nobody capable of pushing him meant he never really had to. But the sub 9.50 talk is insane, and that was never going to happenYeah I know but you what I mean lol
A little unfair to compare the two considering Phelps has many more opportunities to notch up medals. Both all time greats for sure though. Both are amazing, but Phelps probably edges it for me just for the sheer number of medals he has
I didn't know I wanted to see this until now.Yeah but if Usain had to run backwards or hop on one leg he'd have 23 gold medals too, probably.
Everyone runs. Not everyone swims.Bolt or Phelps?

Christ, I'm meant to have lunch with an old contact tomorrow. We do it once a quarter and it generally goes on to 7-8pm...I don't know what's worse, you sat there at home drinking tins of Stella on a Sunday with work in the morning, or the late night bar scenario
He seemed to slow down a bit at the end (last 5m), which is a bit scary.
That Beijing 08 run, forgot how ridiculous that was.
Insane and as Raoul just said he often slows down, he's just built to sprint.

Been through an injury nightmare including hamstring surgery which couldn't have helped.Sort of disappointed in Blake. Thought he would be Bolt's main rival for the rest of his career at one point.
Yeah I do agree its unfair too, just going on facts, even though they are skewed. Like you say, both all time greatsA little unfair to compare the two considering Phelps has many more opportunities to notch up medals. Both all time greats for sure though.
This is fabulous data, thanks. Quickest way to settle that debateBolt probably didn't lose that much time in 2009. His 9.58 is close to his limit, I reckon. Maybe he could have got down to 9.50 in his prime, but then I think his starts have got worse as he's bulked up.
0.81 is the fastest he's ever run 10m. He clearly lost a lot of time in 2008, but not as much when he ran the current WR.
He ran that 3rd insane leg in the 4x100m four years ago, to make sure they smashed that WR. He's the only one who's ever really come close to Bolt.Sort of disappointed in Blake. Thought he would be Bolt's main rival for the rest of his career at one point.
Yeah, I always wondered where the 'what if' people come from, he clearly raced through it in 2009 and was in his prime so I doubt he was able to beat that record.Bolt probably didn't lose that much time in 2009. Bolt because so far he, has won every Olympic final he's been involved in.Bolt or Phelps?

Bolt because jamaica is much cooler thanBolt or Phelps?

Weird thing to compare them by, Bolt doesn't have the same number of events to compete in.Both are amazing, but Phelps probably edges it for me just for the sheer number of medals he has
Well there's also 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, 10000m and marathon.Yeah but if Usain had to run backwards or hop on one leg he'd have 23 gold medals too, probably.
Phelps doesnt swim the 800m either.Well there's also 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, 10000m and marathon.
How so?Breaking the 400m WR from lane 8 is just crazy.
Its a blind lane, so you cannot see how everyone else is going. Very difficult to pace yourself then. How so?
