What did the scouts see here? It must have been something because he was scouted over and over again.
I wouldn't say forlan adjusted 100%, he did get sold after all.Vidic did. Forlan did. Evra did.
Not all of those are relevant but Lindelof has the attributes. He's not exactly wrapping them all up and putting a bow on them at the moment though.
New country, new language, new home, new team mates. None of these should have an absolute impact on the basic things he's getting wrong but he needs to be given time.
If we'd made him a starter and had lost games already it would be a concern.
He cost in the same region as Sakho let's not forget. We can cut him some slack.
He wasn't an unqualified success, but we still sing about him. Good enough for me.I wouldn't say forlan adjusted 100%, he did get sold after all.
Because that game is worthy of a chant in itself. He wasn't an unqualified success, but we still sing about him. Good enough for me.
[The other players were better examples admittedly]
Everyone makes mistakes but Lindelof just looks poor. He is very poor one on one with an attacker, is poor in the air and looks like a red card or penalty waiting to happen. Compared with the CB Chelsea purchased or Spurs or looking at Laporte, Jonathan Tah, Kostas Manolas or any number of CBs in Europe Lindelof just looks poor. I understand taking time to settle but he simply doesn't even look like a decent defender let alone a great one. Imagine if we had signed a first-team defender instead of Lindelof then we wouldn't have to rely so much on Jones and Smalling and instead one of them could have been sold.Absolute jokers on here with the crap that people come out with sometimes. The lads just arrived and people have ended his career here already which is another level of stupidity. Jose's has said that this lads potential is high, so why we not trusting his judgement when he's brilliant at spotting defenders. I've watched him last season and he's a very classy player with the technical ability to play in midfield. He's going to be brill for us once he understands the PL better which we know takes time. Ok yesterday a couple of short passes but come on except Bailly.... Rojo, Smalling, Jones and Blind have been here considerable longer but still have their moments. Shall we at least give the lad a couple of seasons given he's only 23....
Indeed. But then we shouldn't be surprised. A lot of posters on here didn't want Matic. A lot thought Schneiderlin would be a great signing. Basically fans don't really know much about the game. Doesn't mean they're wrong in this case, but it's too early to judge a young defender coming into a different country, as you say.Absolute jokers on here with the crap that people come out with sometimes. Point very well made, especially regarding Matic. Seems like the majority where against his signing yet he's now probably our most important player. You'd think people here would start to question whether they have a clue but no, let's just get to our next target.Indeed. But then we shouldn't be surprised. I didn´t want to start a total beating of him yesterday but I feel that his heading ability is as poor as any player in the squad or there about. He just doesn´t win headers and times his jumps extremely badly. That aside he didn´t have a terrible game at all, had a few shocking passes but was ok for most of the time but that being against a very poor side.. He will need time but like Rojo he could still become good.I see this guy suffers Fellaini's fate now. Caf made up their mind already eh?
Yup, agree that for this height he's doing shit so far with his heading, one dodgy moment that I recall from yesterday was when there was some high ball and he turned the wrong way and lost the man with the ball, that's about it. You'd think he pulled off another Real Madrid by the looks of this thread though.I didn´t want to start a total beating of him yesterday but I feel that his heading ability is as poor as any player in the squad or there about. I'll hold my hands up, I was one of those people. I'm happy to wait and see when it comes to Lindelof, with the team on a flier at the moment it's the ideal opportunity to give him some minutes here and there to build up his confidence.Indeed. Key word.I want my defenders to be able to defend. Lindelof has not shown so far he can defend. Simple as that. Maybe a CDM position would suit him better.
No way. A poor defender wont make a good DM. Just compare him to Matic. If he's not good enough (well, it's too early to say) then he will never become a starter, simply as thatI want my defenders to be able to defend. Lindelof has not shown so far he can defend. Not surprising at all, footballers are some of the most vain people on earth. His gf has said on a podcast that the prices of renting a directors box is disgusting, but you're seen as a loser if you don't.
You do realize it's much easier to stand out (and perform at a higher level) in a team in Portugal that's been the champions four years in a row than it is in a team in one of the toughest and hardest league in the world, right?Do you fans actually believe he played like this in Benfica and still was bought to United?
Spoiler alert: Mourinho would obviously not buy Lindelof if he played like this in Benfica.
You guys need to start think.
What's this about? Do players sit in boxes when they're not in the match day squad? His gf has said on a podcast that the prices of renting a directors box is disgusting, but you're seen as a loser if you don't.
I don't think it's remotely similar. Rojo at least showed that he was determined, knew how to tackle even if he mis-timed some of them. He is also pretty athletic and is at least as good with the ball as the Swede. With Lindelöf, I can see no standout qualities. Smalling was the superior passer yesterday, and defender. Lindelöf seems average or below average at most things. Rojo always showed he was a warrior and the he enjoyed going into tackles.Main reason why I'm hopeful despite his run of dubious performances is Rojo. He looked like crap since he got here until last season where he finally showed his potential. I think the same can happen with Lindleof if we give him time. Besides, we are in no rush. We have 4 very good CB's to keep us satisfied in the meantime.
Friends and family can sit in vip box, special area for a price. They are treated well, have a waiter on stand-by for whatever they want etc. Get food and drinks and get to see the match from their own private box. What's this about? Do players sit in boxes when they're not in the match day squad?
David de Gea displayed exceptional physical qualities and could actually prevent the ball from going in amidst a bunch of mistakes ( mitigated by roughshod opposition actually fouling him on crosses and aerial balls coming in from the corner flag ).I was not here when we bought De Gea. I guess this place would have been similar believing all the nonsense that the media put out about him in his first season.
£82K apparently. His gf has said on a podcast that the prices of renting a directors box is disgusting, but you're seen as a loser if you don't.

Semedo was the full back and Lindelöf the CB that José wanted.Wow. That first half...
He looked better in the second half but Burton weren't pressing us at all. I do think he looks more comfortable in a back 3, for whatever reason.
I'm still wondering about this signing, because weren't we scouting him as a potential fullback in January? I know his primary position is CB but the reports I saw didn't make it look like we were interested in him for that position.
