He was good today but not man of the match, for me Jones deserves that. His movement off the ball is excellent.

The commentator said he's grabbing at his hamstring just prior to getting subbed.
Anyone heard any more regarding an injury?

Just cramp I imagine, he's barely played this season and that match was a hectic PL game so he was bound to tire, looked fine when he walked off.

Think he was just tired, if he pulled anything he would have sat down.

He looked good, but i think he plays better with Rooney for some reason. Martial Rooney and Mkhitaryan behind Ibra would be what I'd like to see next. Maybe swap Martial for Ibra with Mata in there instead?

Hopefully not another injury set back. Will need him in good form going through December and New Year period

Our players need to find him a lot more, there were a lot of times today where he was on the half turn running into excellent positions but whoever was on the ball consistently ignored/didn't see the pass.

Yeah, that would be Pogba passing to Martial all the time. I hate to say but those two gave away so many free balls and opportunities that I dont want to start. He got tired of running for nothing. When u make a run u expect to get the pass.

The best player across the front 3. I feel he should be playing in a 4231 though as he looked better with a player next to him to link up to.

Still waiting for the day him and Mata play together, that would be a joy to watch.

Some of his through balls are lovely.

It was Hazard esque how many times he was hacked down by the opposition. It was quite difficult for them to contain him.

Yeah, he didn't do that much. But literally everyone was off the boil today and he was the only one with a spring in his step.

One of our better players yet again today even though he didn't have his best game, but he just adds that little bit of attacking intent. Signing him got me more excited than the signing of Paul Pogba. In my opinion he can be our star player. He needs another intelligent player beside him and Mata just fits the bill.

He tried, but his delivery is almost non-existent, he failed to create a thing chance a game, he had a couple of good episode like that pass to Carrick when Ander hit the bar, but that hardly surprising. Still a good player should do much better in terms of goals or at least goal chances a lot of good built-up and link-up play is a poor substitute for actually delivering goals.
You have a point but that's incredibly harsh imo. Not one person on the pitch consistently created an end product and that was due to the amount of pressing, high energy running and fast pace of the game.

His consistent first touch, turn of pace and ability on the ball helped maintain and contributed a lot to the status quo of our attacking game, which was controlled and fast/direct attacks.

There were a few times, he should have done better on the wing but you're expecting a bit too much imo. If anything you should be more angry at his team mates not finding him more or providing support (just like with Martial).

Going off on a tangent but I think we do a lot of the good stuff at the back and in the middle but we're not fast or commiting enough in the final third. It's why you often find Martial/Rashford/Zlatan so isolated and needing to dribble (from deep)/hold longer than neccessary. When we get the ball and move it to them, the whole team needs to press higher and contribute to the attack. Often I find we're in this weird middle-ground of trying to stay defensively disciplined/organised but not really commiting to attacking and in effect, you're not really poised to do either properly.

Today was frustrating but It's been steady progress. I can see the improvements, playing style and direction we're going, we're just missing that final push.

Perfectly put, its exactly how I feel. We are team that just needs to iron out the kinks.

Our best attacking player. Him and Valencia on the right are doing really well. I hope he sits out the Europa League game and plays on the weekend instead

Why?

Europa is just as important now with us dropping points in the league. We have a better chance of reaching the champions league via that rather than the league currently.

We should beat them without him, we have a good squad. He seemed tired after 75mins or so.

Give it a rest man. We looked most like creating something when Mkhi had the ball. Some people's standards in here are just ridiculous.

Yes the weight of his passing is superb. That move in the first half where Martial just strayed off was excelleny football and a real art to measure a pass when the ball is being pinged around quickly. I'm not sure there's room for both him and Mata to play though, one or the other for me.

Would link up beautifully with Mata.
Absolutely. Him, Mata and martial behind Ibra with Herrera and pogba in CM is what I want to see. 6 excellent technical players with the front 4 all capable goalscorers and adept in fluid systems.

Lemmy has forsaken us....
It's like he's two steps ahead of the rest of the game. There was one point two lads were within 3 feet of him, closing him down, a moment later they were both behind him looking confused while he's slipped a throughball with his "weak" foot to Carrick with the perfect weight and precision.

Would like to see him play with Mata more, Ibra's dropping deep leaves a lot of space for them to do their magic. Then again, angry beard Rooney is starting to look a player again.

Fantastic talent, joy to watch. He really is a fast thinker and accelerates things. There needw to be more movement around him, he often gets overlooked or there is no one to play with him on the same wavelength

the key point here. It is no coincidence that our attack has improved significantly and space it allows Zlatan to exploit and score 6 in 4 or whatever the stat is. Good players need good players to exploit their creativity. You can dribble past all the players you want and create great passing opportunities but if no one is fast or intelligent enough to exploit that or move into space then it is just pure frustration and people moan about how they didn't do anything with the ball.

Good first half, decent second. He should definitely be starting all games, the team looks much more fluid on the attack with him on the side, if Jose starts playing Miki & Mata, United will start winning games.

Good first half, disappeared quickly during the second. Is it wrong of me to think that if you can't be bothered to run anymore you should ask to come off?

Not impressed by this dude and I think he's mentally weak.

He was pretty tired I would say. Just came back into the squad and had a game a few days before.

I don't think he works as well in a 433, as he has no one to link up to. In a 4231 he has the striker and the attacking midfielder to try to link up with him, when he's on his own he's not as effective since there is no one to play the quick one twos. That's why I think we will do so much better if we carry on the season with a 4231.

Zlatan
Martial Mata Mkhitaryan
Pogba Herrera

Carrick can come in for Herrera in the tougher games but overall I think that's a well balanced and good enough team to take us forward.

Doesn't help when your centre forward insists on dropping deep, true.

No surprise to me that Zlatan scored when he decided to stay up top.

seeing him over the last couple of games has probably been my most enjoyable part of the season. A bit like DiMaria's first few games where he just looked a level above everyone

If he thought Jose was genuinely the problem, he would have just stayed quiet.

Him coming out and openly accepting the problem was on his side pretty much clears it up for everyone.

@Dave46 No. But I find it a bit of an odd trend, that people automatically doubt most things the players say in public. Or at least the ones that go against their argument.
