Do you seriously think I would even try to argue a case for the unknown players that anto picks? I pick players I actually know about or have heard about atleast.
Never heard of Pierce, Ferreria, or whoever the other one was :p although there is always an anus on big name players.

Add me to the convo as well if you do this, sounds like fun to follow and a chance to learn about some new players.
Nah, sorry mate. @Aldo and I will surely enjoy arguing over what each and every one of you should be doing.

loving the current Draft so i was thinking of something of that mould but slightly different....
The best i came up was something like Muppet Chain. Would be based on transfer between leagues and you have to continue the chain from the person before you. Example:

A: 1. Ronaldo(Real)
B: 1. Mandzukic(Juventus)
C: 1. Darmian(United)

Player A picked Ronaldo from Real so player B needs to pick someone who left spanish league for any of the top 5 leagues. In the end we should have 2 players from each league + one player who played his whole career at one club.

The only problem with that is there's absolutely no forward planning whatsoever as you can't really do anything until the person before you picks.

in every draft you need to have few backup options and this one is no different, here you just need to have few more :D but it would be fun i guess, to see how people react and manage their picks.

What's the time line for the draft? Whoever picks first sets the transfer window?
thought about that and im not sure.....if he is having a free start he will have a big advantage but i dont know how to fix that. If there will be interest for the draft im sure we can think of something.

I personally loved the auction draft (although I sucked at it as was my first time). An all time Premier League Draft but with three block picks each before we start would be good as would clear out all the Henry's, Cantona's, Keane's, etc

We just played an all time EPL draft before this one. There was quite a bit of interest for the sheep draft on page 11 and Aldo is interested to run a 40s draft as well. The past 2 drafts, including the current one, have been snake drafting so hopefully the next one is different.

Four points for the next draft to consider:
  1. Keep the pool fresh. It's okay for us junkies to do the same thing all the time, but voters need to be kept engaged as well.
  2. Consider how to better value goalkeepers
  3. Consider how to introduce scorelines
  4. Keep it simple
2, 3 and 4 may all conflict with one another.

I think @Aldo was doing the 40s one next. Not sure how else it would work without the snake format though. Don't know if the auction format lends itself as well to that kind of draft criteria.

With keepers I think the best thing would be for an independent panel to determine whether keepers are good, very good or great (to some extent this would be draft dependent) Then for penalties (which I think you've suggested having Left Bottom, Left Top, Centre, Right Bottom and Right Top as scoring options) submit your keepers diving options but if the keeper is very good he has another randomised direction in which he dives (could be the same as was chosen by the manager); great keepers get two randomised options plus the original choice.

Obviously it doesn't follow that great keepers are great penalty savers but it would give a reason to pick a decent keeper.

My only suggestion is to have the poll so you can't see the score until you've voted. Think the score at that time is havin too much influence on voting. I'd b tempted to make it also that you can't change your vote
I like that although you'd want the managers to be able to see it so that they could make a change, otherwise we'd never have any subs which would be a bit dull

Sorry about not being involved in my second round match. I had some big things come up during that day that prevented me from discussing and posting in the thread. Still, though, I kept it really close without any discussions, which really surprised me.

Anyways, if there's another draft coming up, count me in on that. I look forward to getting involved.

The managers can just vote for themselves to be able to see the score. Although if people can't change votes. ...subs might not be necessary anyway. Although that would mean @Edgar Allan Pillow would be safe from himself.

Agreed Skizzo. An auction format, as enjoyable as it can be, is useless in terms of unearthing hidden gems.

Yeah, that's fair. Just wanted something different to shake things up a bit but for the 40s draft it has to be the snake.

We need more interest! Would be meh if the draft goes like his. Let's pick some steam!
Because of this arising for the '40's draft, I have come up with a couple of different ideas for the next draft.
  1. An all-time draft where each team must have a certain number of players from each confederation in their team. (ex. 4 from Europe, 3 from South America, 2 from Africa, 1 each from North America and Asia). The limits depend on the pool size for each confederation. This could be a snake, sheep, auction...whatever.
  2. This isn't a draft idea, but maybe we can have specific random situations come up in a match and have the managers convince us that they'll fare better in them. The situations could be set pieces for now, but they could also be something like a temporary injury, bookings, penalties, sending offs, etc. (as long as the situations are fair and not awkward). This idea could possibly bring keepers to the fore and make them more important to the draft.

mazhar is right, its because of the 40s draft.....
im a draft junkie and i enjoy reading through threads during both parts, drafting and games but this draft is first that i ignore all the threads as its the first time i dont know shit about majority of players and its impossible to judge the teams, at least for me. Its okay when you dont know about 2 or 3 players in the team, you can get the picture and you can do some research about unknowns but when you dont know shit about 6 or 7 players then there is no point in doing anything.

I basically had to find articles and youtube videos myself because both managers didn't provide enough info. Not necessary an 12,000-word essay, but something more to show us voters how good the players really are

If the 40s doesn't generate enough interest, we can forget about 30s, 20s and so on

30's and 20's would be very hard to do. Not as many GOATS and not as many quality players.

Sheep draft! Sheep draft!

Even though I couldn't post the last time you had one, was the most fun to follow by far. Poeple at my office wondered what I grinned at
